Buying is Easy, Selling is Hard.
I wonder why the statement, ‘90% Traders/Investors/Speculators lose Money’? Knowing the odds, why Trade/Invest/Speculate? Who's the 10% who make a profit? All these questions linger in my mind whether I am a Trader, Investor or Speculator? I am neither one; I am a Trader, Investor and Speculator (TIS) all roll into one..
As the title suggests, Buying is Easy if willing to Buy at whatever price on Seller Queue. A Trader will buy at moderate Quantity for Quick Gain. An investor will Buy at the Lowest Price possible for Long Term and Speculator will Buy at Large Quantity with Margin, intention of Pushing up prices to Sell with Big Margin..IMHO.
On the other hand, Selling is Hard to make a profit, Selling Price must be Higher than the Buying Price Earlier…Logically. A Trader is willing to Sell at a small Margin as the intention is to make a Quick Gain. An Investor will Hold for Long Term, only will Sell if Target Price (TP) met. A Speculator will NOT have any control on the Selling Price if prices fall below Buying Price and on Margin Call…Force Selling.
Most of us would rather be a Trader than a Speculator, if possible on Contra Trade. As the settlement period has shortened to 3 days (some with longer privilege); Contra Trade becomes harder.
There is no Right or Wrong for the way to Trade/Invest/Speculate; ALL depends on Individual Capacity.
Take my recent GenM Trade/Invest (Not Speculate) for example, my first purchase at RM2.20 is a Trade for short term Gain; Hard to Sell at RM2.48. Detail at: https://klse.i3investor.com/web/blog/detail/BLeeGenting/2025-03-01-story-h498649855-GenM_A_Billion_Questions
After Dec24QR, it is not conducive to Trade Stock; therefore turned to as an Invest stock. Bought twice to average down the holding cost at RM1.70 and RM1.50, planned to buy more if drops further..
After Mar25QR, managed to sell the RM1.50 tranche at RM1.92. On the same day, trying to sell the RM1.70 tranche at RM2.05; unsuccessful. See snapshot below:-
Snapshot of my recent GenM Trade/Invest
I reserved my Speculate Stocks Details as I can hardly claim I am in the 10% Gainer..

Haha, ‘师爷’ (Grand Master) should also follow Market Trend; the Turtle and Rabbit story is only for certain circumstances, like it takes nine months to have a BB, it can't have Nine Women to have Nine BB in one month!! Waiting is the most patient reward in the Market. I prefer to Buy and Sell in Tranches, Not Show Wealth and Buy Like No Tomorrow. Happy Father's Day to All Caring Fathers and TradeAtYourOwnRisk

The happening in the Middle East has obscured the recent announcements on SST.
What will be the additional SST impact on the Property/Construction Industrial? A good read article link:
https://www.nst.com.my/property/2025/06/1231152/revised-sst-could-push-property-prices-higher?utm_source=WA-NST&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=WATraffic
“Although residential properties are exempt from SST, Tan noted that indirect effects, such as shared infrastructure costs and inflation across a developer's portfolio, could still impact pricing in the housing segment.
Under the revised SST framework, selected non-essential goods will be taxed at 5 per cent to 10 per cent, while construction services related to infrastructure, commercial, and industrial buildings, where taxable value exceeds RM1.5 million annually, will face a 6 per cent service tax.”

You really wondered if Nga understand the property industry or just follow the "barks" of his boss or both. Workers staying in PBWA -contractors/factories must pay rents and now plus SST. Lorries that deliver cement, sand, materials etc must pay SST too as normally it is outsourced to transportation companies.Foreign workers have minimum wages and now EPF too. Residential developments nowadays are more than 20 storeys. Contractors need to rent tower cranes and temporary lifts, gen set and all these have to pay SST.REHDA and industry players are right, costs will definately go up across the board, only the Govt is not telling the full truth to its target voters ( we know who). PMX said avocado is for rich people, yet does he know that you can get 3 Australian avocados for RM10 at supermarkets and probably cheaper at roadside stores? Compared that with local papayas or mangoes .Thai mangoes are going even as low as RM4 per kg now, while local solo papaya can costs up to RM10 per kg. Look at service charge at restaurants, most are charging on top of 6% SST but where do that 10% go? It is definately not going to the Revenue as the 6% SST does not apply to the 10% and doesnt need to declare as restaurants' incomes. Why dont the Govt regularise that? I dont mind paying 10% service charge at a hotel as I can also enjoy the aircon and better toilet facilities too. But definately not in some restaurants that have stinking toilets and dirty floors and 6.30 waiting staff. What the Govt is doing is "machine gun policies" and it hit everybody even though it said it is only aiming at the culprits in an open area. Stop the politicking and do some real analysis.Dont just keep trying blindly to get the "votes" you are begging for and disregard those that supported you in the past as it will be gone by GE16.

“KH6996 > You really wondered … Dont just keep trying blindly to get the "votes" you are begging for and disregard those that supported you in the past as it will be gone by GE16.”
Noted on the grievances, there are 2 sides of a coin, looking at the SARA/e-Kasih queues at most Supermarkets; tells a different story.
I am apolitical, the concern is on the Market rather than ‘gone by GE16’..
The next concern will be on ‘RON95’ pricing; will get the special price provided ‘Open your Net Worth’ to qualify??

RON95 Rationalisation.
Just wonder why the hoo-ha if how much can ‘recovered’ from only 10 to 15% usage from the rich? Most of them chauffeur driven and fuelling by the driver, most likely qualified for the subsidized RON95? Latest detail as reported in Link:
https://www.nst.com.my/news/nation/2025/06/1231318/updated-ron95-subsidy-rationalisation-proceed-says-anwar
“..there's no issue of the RON95 increase affecting 85 to 90 per cent of our people.”
The promotion of Renewable Energy (RE) could be more beneficial as a way to cut down RON95 usage, IMHO.

Safe Haven?
https://www.nst.com.my/opinion/columnists/2025/06/1231764/israel-iran-conflict-highlights-dollars-tarnished-safe-haven
“The dollar has historically been one of the best hedges against short-term volatility sparked by geopolitical risk, behind gold and on a par with oil, according to research published last year by Joe Seydl, senior markets economist at JP Morgan Private Bank.
Indeed, a Journal of Monetary Economics paper from last year stated plainly, "The dollar is a safe-haven currency and appreciates when global risk goes up," a trend resulting from the "fundamental asymmetry in a global financial system centred around the dollar" built up over the course of several decades.
That latter part of that argument hasn't changed.”

My few doors away neighbour told me his planning:
He planned to sell his corner unit house (empty nest) for RM1.3 mil, apply for RM0.3 mil Prima Apartment, balance RM1 mil investment in EPF, and will get roughly RM5k per month, enough spending $ for 2.. Is it Good Planning?
There is a limit you can invest in EPF.I think the limit now is RM100,000. He can get auctioned Prima or other affordable homes below RM300,000 if he is patient.Problem is nowadays there are many sellers but virtually demand have dried up for certain price range properties as everybody is waiting and want a cheap sale as many unsure where the economX is heading.

“KH6996 > There is a limit you can invest in EPF. I think the limit now is RM100,000..”
@KH6996, you are right, it is RM100,000 per annum. Details as below:
“AI Overview
The maximum amount an individual can contribute to their Employees Provident Fund (EPF) account in Malaysia, through voluntary contributions, is RM100,000 per year, according to KWSP Malaysia. This limit applies to self-contributions, i-Saraan, i-Suri, and top-up savings. There is no strict upper limit for voluntary contributions beyond this RM100,000 cap.
Here's a breakdown:
Voluntary Contributions: Individuals can choose to contribute more to their EPF accounts on top of their mandatory deductions.
Maximum Annual Limit:
The maximum amount for voluntary contributions, including self-contributions, is RM100,000 per year.
Multiple Channels:
This limit applies across all payment channels used for voluntary contributions.
No Upper Limit (Beyond RM100,000):
There's no specific upper limit for how much can be contributed, but the annual limit is RM100,000.”

“KH6996 > … He can get auctioned Prima or other affordable homes below RM300,000 if he is patient …”
He told me he has spent more than RM10k to re-pipe, change a new water tank and some minor renovation works for a 30 year old house. Recently, I have spent RM2k for re-pipe and RM50k for kitchen and toilet renovation 5 years ago. Living in an old house is not cheap for maintenance compared with a Strata Title unit even though it requires paying monthly charges. He preferred a totally new Prima, distance is not a problem as he seldom travels locally, frequent children visiting oversea .. Empty Nest which most of us will face later.
