JOHOR BARU: The state will introduce a framework to pave a path towards a more sustainable, greener future in November, says Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

He said the Johor Green Deal will be launched in conjunction with the Asia Pacific Climate Week (APCW) hosted by the state from Nov 13 to 17.

“The issue of climate change is something that is becoming more dangerous for the world as a whole. We are going to take the opportunity of the event, which involves participants from 150 countries, to launch the Johor Green Deal.

“It is a framework for the future - a plan for us to implement for the state’s greener future,” he said in a press conference about APCW at Persada Johor International Convention Centre here on Sunday (Aug 13).

When asked about the duration of the plan and execution, Onn Hafiz said he did not want to reveal it just yet, adding that the details would be announced during the launch.

He added that the state government was currently working closely with Johor Economic, Tourism and Cultural Office chairman Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad to establish the Johor Centre for Sustainability.

On Aug 10, Hasni in a Facebook post said the centre would become a main platform for the public, private sectors and academia to work together to achieve the state’s agendas related to sustainability.
