All i know is NBAL is a private company that ceased to be Maybulk's subsidiary in 2009

glad to hear that. I was worried for a bit. I know that previously they did the same thing back in 2005 when the charter rate was all-time high, but it was understandable since they have so many vessels back then. But now, it's kind of different. No doubt, they will definitely benefit hugely at the moment. Hopefully, they will be getting some young vessels moving forward.

Is there any possibility that they want to exit out of the business?

Agree with Lawman and batu88. I didn't like the fact that they are disposing of another 2 vessels at the current moment. They missing out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. But then again, if it's for the mid-term I'm ok with it, the long term might not be a good place to park your capital.

pacific basin share price rose from 2.90 to 3.40 per share. Meanwhile Maybulk only dropped from 70+ sen to 66 sen hmm

The only risk I can think of for Maybulk is China and/or US slowdown in their infrastructure spending (or they used their reserves eg China used it to cooldown steel price). Are there anything else that I may missed?

wallstreetrookie maybe you want to study more about the dry shipping industry before commenting on their ESG. There's a regulation by International Maritime Organization 2020 on a certain amount of sulphur content in marine fuels, which is a maximum sulphur content of 0.5% in marine fuels globally. This is to reduce air pollution created by the dry bulk ships.
In the case of Maybulk, all their ships had already use exhaust gas cleaning systems or “scrubbers”, which “clean” the emissions before they are released into the atmosphere.
Plus, they sold all of their old fleets, and only kept ships that are younger and more eco-friendly.

pacific basin is trading at a super premium PE, 77.05x (but of course they have way more ships than maybulk so that's understandable).

PE 9 (during their hay days 10-15x)

export value data is out too, so far manufacture of metals is rising, while most product segments are incurring drop in export. Wondering what category is coal and grains are in the product segment, can they be agriculture product?

EPF still got another 200 mil shares to dispose entirely, so those want to buy, feel free to collect tickets from them

hit 40 sen, another round of margin call. Not even RSS is shorting this counter but already dropping like waterfall.

@invest_malaysia EPF allocated about 3.5% to invest in Serbadk of their total equity porftolio of RM 14.5 bil (assuming they spent RM 500 mil, currently they have about RM 200 mil)..It's akin to, investing RM 3.50, out of their RM 100 savings. So, I think other investment portfolio like other stocks, money market fund, property can easily cover the losses

wallstreetrookie mind sharing why it's not a healthy sign for the market?

@pharker great question. I heard from someone that they are internally corrupted, their MD got arrested by MACC, so lots of hanky panky going on but good thing they have exited majority of the shares, though there still little shares remaining.

Assuming average PE for Maybulk is 9x (bear in mind during the haydays, their PE is 12-15x)
For share price to be at RM 1.44, earnings per share needs to be 16 sen for the year.
For share price to be at RM 2.10, earnings per share needs to be 23 sen for the year.
For share price to be at RM 2.80, earnings per share needs to be 31 sen for the year.
And it goes on. So adjust your prediction accordingly.

as long as this corporate governance issue continues to prolong, EPF will keep dumping. Same like CMSB

Positive sign ahead. Pacific Basin is the closest competitor to Maybulk, plus their share price had increased more than 120% in the 6 month period, while Maybulk only rose 29%
