It expects to sign the agreement with a Japanese partner later this year
GEORGE TOWN: Precision tooling component maker AT Systematisation Bhd (ATS) expects to seal an automation equipment deal with a Japanese partner later this year.
Group executive director Mak Siew Wei hopes to close the deal so that production could start in 2018.
“A joint-venture company will be formed to focus on making automated equipment such as pick and place machines for both local and export markets,” he said.
ATS expects the new venture to generate a sizeable contribution to group revenue in the near future, Mak told StarBiz.
According to Mak, the demand for global automation systems is expected to exceed US$350bil in 2020.
“From 2015 to 2020, the focus of the automation industry is on factory automation, flexible factory robots, automated industrial vehicles and three-dimensional prototyping.
“During this period, the automation industry is projected to grow at 22.5%.
“Beyond 2020, the focus of automation will be on healthcare monitoring, automated cars, intelligent homes and three-dimensional product printing,” he said.
He said ATS would also start a sheet metal slitting business on the island soon to service the domestic market.
“The sheet metal business will be located in one of our three plants in Bayan Lepas. Some RM4mil will be allocated to start this business later this year,” he added.
ATS also expects to start production of high-value precision tooling components in third quarter 2017 for a Swiss-based company – a new venture that would help return the group to the black this year.
ATS is currently finalising the design of the components for Rieter, a leading supplier of systems for short-staple fibre spinning based in Switzerland.
“For the first year, orders from Rieter should contribute about 30% or RM10mil to the company’s revenue, which would lead us back to the black.
“We also expect orders from Rieter to grow in volume and value, and by 2019 the contribution to the group should be around 50%,” said Mak.
The group also recently obtained the ISO13485 certification, which gave international recognition to its ability to provide medical devices and related services that consistently meet customer and regulatory requirements.
“Now we are working with a Taiwanese medical care company to produce the components and production should go into full swing next year,” he added.

KUALA LUMPUR (April 12): NetX Holdings Bhd has teamed up with XOX Bhd to develop an electronic payment mobile exchange that enables XOX subscribers to be e-commerce merchants and have interconnectivity with both local and international payment gateways.
NetX’s subsidiary PayAllz Sdn Bhd and XOX’s unit XOXWallet Sdn Bhd signed a technology collaboration agreement today to facilitate the collaboration, ACE Market-listed NetX said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.
The agreement is valid for one year and can be renewed annually, NetX said, adding that the project is expected to contribute positively to its earnings for the financial year ending June 30, 2018 onwards.
In a separate statement, NetX said PayAllZ will work to get its nationwide network of merchants on board as support, via its ability to conduct e-kiosk services for every XOX subscriber.
PayAllZ will also enable links with multi-platform payment gateways such as Alipay, Wepay, Apple Pay and Samsung Pay.
“With this technology and PayAllZ’s unique expertise in payment infrastructure, soon all mobile subscribers can participate in this electronic payment mobile exchange as an option for their e-commerce transactions,” said NetX executive director Steve Tan.
“This will also empower every XOX subscriber in urban or rural areas to participate and be a part of our country’s new Digital Free Trade Zone.
“I foresee true empowerment for every mobile subscriber and this is in line with our Prime Minister’s vision for a truly digital-forward country. All we need is to set the correct foundation and infrastructure that will allow for such global connectivity,” Tan said.
As for project development cost, NetX said the detailed investment terms for each available site “shall be determined on a case-to-case basis.”
Last week, loss-making NetX announced that it is venturing into Cambodia, through its subsidiary Ariantec Sdn Bhd which signed a licensing agreement with Payallz International Ltd to license four electronic payment products that will be based on a 50:50 revenue-sharing model.
Payallz International, meanwhile, signed a partnership agreement with Cambodia’s Hello Digital Co Ltd in financial technology for mobile payment, electronic wallet and loyalty programme solutions.
NetX shares closed down 0.5 sen or 11.1% at four sen today, valuing the company at RM50.04 million.

ARIANTEC Sdn Bhd, through its international affiliate, PayAllZ International Limited, announces its partnership agreement with Cambodia’s Hello Digital Co Ltd.
Ariantec enters into a distribution offering fintech for mobile payment, e-wallet and loyalty programme solutions, while Hello Digital brings to the table tech resolutions and digital marketing services.
The partnership sees Hello Digital including PayAllZ solutions to their portfolio of products.
“The current market in Cambodia currently lacks a KyC (Know Your Customer) service, thus allowing the adaptation of this market to the latest technology platform. There is a huge demand in the market to understand, and know their target markets better. This in turn builds better services, for more targeted results and service-oriented provisions,” says PayAllZ general manager Alvin Ng.
The partnership includes all PayAllZ’s proprietary systems AllZ mPOS, AllZ+, AllZ 360 ° and AllZ Wallet.
“AllZ mPOS is our EMV Chip & PCI-compliant terminal that takes card payments to the next level for the growing of a business. AllZ+ feeds accurate insights into a business and card payment transactions with real-time information via a mobile application and/or web portal, while AllZ 360 ° is an easy-to- use, end-to- end tool that allows merchants to build rewards and loyalty programmes.
“AllZ 360° also opens up a new world of creative marketing opportunities for merchants to validate and reward customers for in-store loyalty with a web portal linked to smartphones and tablets. This ranges from reward vouchers, coupons, discounts, profit and exclusive offers, and last but not least, AllZ Wallet provides customers the ability and flexibility to pay without the hassle of a bulky wallet,” Ng says.
“Our target was always fast-growing countries and we believe that Cambodia is poised to leap-frog us in terms of technology adoption. Effective today, our system will be applied throughout Cambodia, with a focus on Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, to start,” says NetX Holdings Bhd executive director Steve Tan. PayAllZ is a subsidiary of NetX Holdings.
With a background in total systems integration and network infrastructure, NetX expanded into electronic payment solutions since acquiring PayAllZ.
It has moved forward in the development of total payment solutions starting with EFTPOS (Electronic Funds Transfer at Point of Sale), terminal and accessories (digital signature pad, near field communication adaptors and etc), software and other component subsystems, to systematically merge them into one system.

HUBLine has reversed losses of a year ago to move into profit in the third thanks to a lack of write-downs.
HUBLine CEO Dennis Ling
The Malaysian shipowner made a profit of just over MYR 2m ($630,000) against a loss of MYR 163.2m in the same quarter of 2013.
The year ago period was impacted by provisions for impairment of MYR 154.2m.
Revenue for the quarter was up 3% to MYR 92.1m, while expenses for the same period were down 6.5% to MYR 82m.
“The dry bulk shipping sector continues to look promising with our year to date fleet enjoying full capacity. This demand is expected to continue for the remaining part of this year,” said HUBLine.
“However, the container shipping division though filled with steady demand still faces over supply resulting in stiff competition and freight stagnation.”
It said it will continue to focus on productivity, cost efficiencies and prudent capital management while maintaining its leverage to any improvement in the external business environment.
