Enning22, you are probably right but we can do nothing much about it... Buying ta ann is one of the hedge that i use
2016-11-24 12:10 | Report Abuse
Ta Ann starts to move, collect now before it cross RM4 soon.
Three catalysts are:
i) CPO price surge RM100 today to above RM3000 per tonne.
ii) Still under the radar of many investors as YTD return is still negative 10%
iii) Timber division will benefit from strong USD now at 4.4+ almost record high in two years.

probability, fertilizer cost go up yes... but the selling price also go up.
Let say you have a product selling at USD100 and the fertilizer cost is USD60.
Previously you earn USD40 or RM160 per unit when USD at 4.00
Now you earn USD40 or RM176 when USD at 4.40
The earnings jump is 10%....
Bottom line TAANN will benefit from stronger USD

Shaun Loong, the mother shares is listed at Nikkei which is a very liquid stock market with extreme volatility.
The target market is also different (Japan + global market) vs PANAMY's mainly Malaysia market.
As a result, I believe you can't really compare between these two

Superstock...
1. Shh cash is >30% market cap? It is clearly stated there 21.5%, I don't know where you get your 30%.
2. Larger market cap is better? Of course larger market cap is better. It provides higher liquidity and attracts fund manager, not just retailer.
3. Which school you went? I don't need to answer you on this.

henry, check the line properly. for Balance Sheet, I put NA for the winner which means no winner. That line is only stating fact. To adjust for size, I come out with the "% of cash / market cap".
I don't know what you are talking about external and internal strength. So can't really answer you on that.

This blog is only half the truth. Qoq, liihen earnings continue to grow. But shh earnings has declined. On liihen PE higher than shh, it is natural bcos liihen market cap is much bigger and its dividend payment is very frequent at every quarter. Shh pays only once a year

Calvin, Malaysian don't have alternative bcos the public transport system sucks. Only in KL and Klang Valley you can depend on Monorail, LRT + Monorail.
And do you know usually how many years loan people take to pay for the car? It's 9 years... it's ALMOST A LOST DECADE just to own a car

aidwiz,
After witnessing the volatile USDMYR movement in the past one year, I have learned to have a view longer than one year. And my view is now stronger USD is the trend for the next 3 years. Historically, we can see that despite the volatility, long term trend is for USD to appreciate against Ringgit.

Calvin, there are two more by elections in Malaysia
- Sungai Besar (Previous BN win was by 399 votes)
- Kuala Kangsar (Previous BN win was by 1082 votes)
we should track these as well for near term risk/reward

U are right on the lower competition from soybean oil. But not from corn oil and peanut oil. These are too small oil to compete with palm oil in terms of volume.

newbird and SALAM,
My assessment is made purely from the Annual Report and their quarterly result...
As a result, I can only provide the reasons for the profit increase in 1H17 as quoted from their quarterly disclosure as below.
*************BEGIN*************
Palm Oil Products
The palm oil products segment remained the Group’s main source of revenue, which
contributed 98.03% of the revenue of the Group in the current quarter.
For the quarter under review, revenue for this segment increased to RM94.15 million
from RM65.16 million in the preceding year corresponding quarter. The increase was
mainly attributed to the increase in selling price, sales volume and favourable
exchange rate.
The operating profit for the current quarter increased to RM8.93 million from RM4.81
million in the preceding year corresponding quarter. The increase was mainly
attributed to the increase in selling price, sales volume and favourable exchange rate.
*************END*************
