newbie here, have a question to ask on what affects the queue position during non-market hours. is it the time of queue? quantity amount? do different brokerage firms have higher priority?
example if I queue buy 10 lots @ 3.00 airasia after market close, at 6pm lets say. another person queue 1000 lots @ 3.00 at 6.01 pm, do I have priority in the queue(as in do I get the stock first when it drop to 3.00 the following day) over the person with more lots? if in another situation me and another person also purchase same amount at same price at 6pm, but the person use another brokerage firm, will there be a priority for certain firms?

In my opinion, is not advisable to start with 1k, your brokerage fee will eat up a few % of your investment. Unless you are confident that you can make much more from it. Moreover, if you are trading or speculating, any wrong decision will make you stuck and in a paper loss, forcing you to either stop loss or you could just wait till it recovers, who knows when.
Advisable to start with 5k or more, split it such that you could purchase 3 or 4 times with the 5k.
Moreover, as a newbie, is best to practice with a virtual account, and not put your 1k at risk.
