I mean if they win it then it would just be a one off. Nothing much affecting the long term prospect.

I wouldn't count on it. Lawsuits are know to drag on for years..... . Even if they won the suit it would only be a one off. Doesn't affect much on the long term prospect of the company.

Well there's another side to that argument that hedging full would come with a hefty premium. In instances that the hedging might not be use at all until it expires.

Please do .... I think the last point is going to be quite important as I don’t see much catalyst for further growth in the economy nowadays. Debt is at an all time high across household in both the US and China

I would agree with Sheldon with C. We seen a drastic drop in crude oil price the past month. It would hit profits for sure. D might be a bit too optimistic. Hopefully next quater it would achieve D.

In my opinion i think throughout the years of volatility, they should have some sort of mechanism to hedge againts oil price volatility. Like maybe entering some sort of futures contract. If oil price lowers then their cost of production would be lower. Then i belive oil price will eventually rise back. However I hope that the volume that is sold would increase.

I mean as in the tax they implement would be reasonable and would not scare off away current or potential future businesses from investing more in Malaysia

You’re right . I feel that the new PH government would be business friendly and implement tax in a way that would encourage more business to invest. Business friendly government = more jobs and opportunists for people and the economy

Hearing those words from you sheldon remind me of the time when PH won and there were rumours on electricity tax on TNB

With the tax holiday there have been a record number of new vehicle purchase. Hence would there be an noticable increase in demand for petrol? Next quater volume to increase?

From multiple websites that states the fuels lighter hydrocarbon would rise and evaporate. But I think that is stating the oil that have been mixed with detergent. Which is why I ask to be corrected if I am wrong .

Can I ask any Sifu here if Heng Yuan plant maintainance would mean that they might need to count on other sources such as PETRON for refining oil. Correct me if I am wrong but I heard that refined oil only have a shelf live of a month or so before the solution and detergent degrades?

Hence the opposition party leverage on that misunderstanding and is trying to mislead people while also making a big deal out of it.
2018-09-01 19:53 | Report Abuse
It's a good deal but comes with a bit of a bad PR (public relation). News outlet did not help in clarifying the issue as when it was initially released, there were misunderstanding that Petron was going to be the solo supplier. A lot of people missed the sentence saying "one of".

Euro 4 is the regulation standard that is set by european on the sulphur produced by the vechicle. If you went to petron and other petrol stations theres a Euro 4 logo located next to the Ron 97 and Ron 100 also.

Guys can anyone here help answer a few of my questions? Is it mandatory for RON 95 to have Euro 4 certified by the end of this year? If so then what happens to refinery that are unable to comply to that standard?

@john0909 do you think that because government cap the oil price at RM2.20 while global oil price increase is a huge contributing factor to this result?

@newbie8080 well at least its already a better deal than last year in which they experience growth. I hope that subsidies for pumps would increase volume therefore decreasing any losses at the reserve.
2018-05-20 15:13 | Report Abuse
Probably next quarter when subsidies kick in then it should be excellent. Can expect the consumption of petrol to increase.

So far this month has worked out well for us.
Increase in world crude oil price therefore increase in revenue.
Introduction of subsidies would stimulate oil demand and consumption.
The future so far is looking bright ahead.

Now oil price is going up to more than 70 per barrel in the US, 76 in UK but the market is shifting towards more big vehicles like SUVS. Ford has phase out a lot of their sedans and hot hatch. Is this a very good sign for O&G industry ?

Well buying and selling it on the same week or day isn’t called investing anyways. It’s called speculating . Investing is mostly talking about long term. A wise man once said that you can allocate 10% of your money into such things and consider it as mad money . Because it’s human nature to gamble

Now very curious to look at the outcome of election. Oil price are sure to sour up around 20 cents.
i wonder how would the govmen react to it. Will they give subsidies or change the fuel price system whoever the government is.
