KUALA LUMPUR (May 4): Protasco Bhd will commence work on Phase 4 of the civil servants' headquarters in Putrajaya, which entails the construction of 1,681 residential units, in the third quarter of the year.

Phase 4 is a part of the Perumahan Penjawat Awam 1Malaysia (PPA1M) project and will be developed at an estimated gross development value of RM356 million on 11.2 acres of land in Precinct 19. It is expected to be completed in 36 months.

“We are confident that this project will contribute positively to the Group’s future earnings,” Protasco managing director Datuk Seri Chong Ket Pen said in a statement, following a groundbreaking ceremony officiated by chief secretary to the government, Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa, today.

To be known as PPA1M Kenanga, Protasco said the smaller residential PPA1M units, measuring 850 sq ft, will be priced from RM120,000, and the larger units of 1,000 sq ft, from RM220,000.

Phase 4 is a joint-venture development project between Protasco's wholly-owned subsidiary Protasco Development Sdn Bhd, and Kop Mantap Bhd — a wholly-owned subsidiary of Koperasi Polis Diraja Malaysia Bhd.

Protasco has 51% in the JV and Kop Mantap, the remaining 49%.

The Main Market-listed company had received a RM443 million contract to build Phase 4 in December 2017.

Protasco fell 2.5 sen or 3.23% to close at 75 sen today, with 1.16 million shares done. Its market capitalisation was some RM372 million.
