Asian markets have been buffeted by the on-off expectations of Fed tapering over the past six months, and are down 7 percent on the year, underperforming developed markets. The Fed's stimulus has generally pumped world markets with cheap cash, particularly driving emerging markets.
Currency trading, India and Indonesia are two of the "fragile five" economies seen most vulnerable to higher U.S. Treasury yields. "Investor concern about macro-fundamental deterioration ... and pressure on emerging market external accounts in the midst of U.S. removal of policy accommodation continue to provide headwinds," said Morgan Stanley analysts in a client note.
Will the Fed taper in december 2013? Another selldown in the making? Careful now!

Indonesia’s economy grew at its weakest pace in nearly four years in the third quarter, throttled by weak exports and slowing consumption as higher fuel prices bite. Southeast Asia’s largest economy faces challenges from a widening current account deficit, which has made it a target of portfolio investors shifting funds out of emerging markets and knocked the rupiah to 4-1/2-year lows.
The pressure on the rupiah has eased somewhat as the Federal Reserve delayed winding down monetary stimulus, but a renewed attack on Asia’s worst performing currency could resume with speculation over the timing of US tapering.
Will the Fed taper in December 2013? Will there be another selldown in Asian markets? Will the ringgit weaken again? The investor of today does not profit from yesterday's growth. careful now!

World Bank President Jim Yong Kim predicted another wave of higher global interest rates that could hurt emerging markets when the U.S. Federal Reserve starts tapering its $85 billion-a-month asset-purchase program.
Bond prices slumped internationally and emerging-market stocks plunged after May 22, when Fed Chairman Ben S. Bernanke said for the first time the central bank could withdraw stimulus, also called quantitative easing. While those market movements were partly reversed after the Fed maintained its policy, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank have urged nations from Turkey to Indonesia to strengthen their economies in preparation for the reduction.
Will the rally continue? Will Q3 earnings be good, bad or ugly? Will 2.55 hold for today? Investors have short memories!!

The Fed plan to curb stimulus actions has raised concerns over its impact on Southeast Asia. The growth story in Southeast Asia appears "less shiny and glossy in bright daylight" since talk of the Fed’s tapering began, said Leif Eskesen, HSBC's chief economist for the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) in a note.
The ASEAN-five, or Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam, need to do the "heavy lifting" of economic reforms to make the region "the serious alternative to China and India that we think it deserves to be," he said, adding that it is important to start reforms soon as it will take time for their positive impact on growth to be felt.
So how then? Will the weak rally continue? Will the selling momentum stop?

Folks, probably more money has been lost pursuing the "darling" stock than in any other area of investing. The price of any stock is determined by tomorrow's news. Since no one knows what tomorrow's news will be, picking a stock based on your instinct about its future price is simply gambling & what to a stock on a downtrend.
Remember folks, the stock-pickers graveyard is littered with bad choices that once looked great: Lehman Brothers, Worldcom, Enron, Refco and General Motors are just some examples.
