BANGKOK (Sept 30): The number of people dead due to the
flood, which battered 32 of 77 provinces in Thailand, now
stands at 22.
There are about 2.789 million people affected by the flood. Of
the number, 1.69 million are from the Surin, Srisaket and
Ubon Racha Thani provinces, according to the country’s
Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department.
The flood situation in Surin has not improved and it still faces
high water level, while the situation in Srisaket is improving.
The water level is rising in the Ubon Rathcha Thani province.
Meanwhile, the Thai Meteorological Department today, issued an advisory on Typhoon Wutip, which is
expected to reach Nakorn Pranom, northeast of Thailand.
Heavy rainfall is expected at adjoining provinces in the country's northeast and northern region, tomorrow.
The provinces expected to be affected are Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Kalasin, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan,
Sakon Nakhon, Udon Thani, Nong Bua Lamphu, Loei, Khon Kaen and Chaiyaphum — all of which are
located in the northeast, while in the north, are the Phitsanulok and Phetchabun provinces.
