@InvestWin Concerning AAX loss, I have queries but i usually cannot find time to attend the AGM and some more the venue is around KLIa area, so far away : 1) Why is it that after disposal of aircraft, AirAsia made so much money; but AAX suffered great loss ? 2) Is there some accounting gimmick where AAX is made to bear the bad disposals & AirAsia bear the good ones ? 3) With AirAsia making profit every year & gave good dividends; and AAX losing big money most years, no dividends since listing, Is AAX made the whipping boy every year by the parents ( like the step father who dislike the step son AAX born by the previous father) ? 4) Meaning, all bad loss in the AirAsia Group is transferred to AAX and made AirAsia looks good & gave handsome dividend but AAX to bleed to death ?
--------------------------------------
AAX is doing badly because they operate in the mid to long distance environment, which, due to strict & highly politicised regulations, is hard to scale up for them to be profitable, YET. The key to low cost air business, is all about turnaround time. AAX simply do not have the scale like AA does, FOR NOW. Think about it, their capacity is about 35% more than traditional full service carriers, yet charge only about 50-70% of the price of full service airline does. But the cost to fly is roughly about the same. So, each AAX plane will need to be in the air more/carry more passengers compared to a full service carrier.
The ideal scenario for AAX is for example, from KUL to TOKYO, then TOKYO to HK, then HK to KUL, and KUL back to TOKYO again. Unlike short haul flights, that flies back & forth, back & forth(example KUL-BANGKOK) in a day. You simply can't do that for long haul flights from the same cities, for one, there simply isn't that big of a market, secondly, the time constraint, it's hard to sell a flight that arrives/depart in odd hour(some airport have curfew too). So until AAX have that scale, it will be a rough ride.

TF said they have hedged their fuel 70% for this and next year, and 20% for 2021. And he gave guidance that the coming QR would not be good, due to the new accounting provision, and, Q3 & Q4 would be better. Indonesia & Philippines would grow their capacities faster than Malaysia & Thailand.

pang72, that's because contribution from First Solar to its revenue has risen from 27% to 87% over the years. But during the same period, First Solar's own revenue has halfed. If Greatech's main customer that contribute almost 90% of its revenue is suffering from selling their solar panel, what is the prospect of Greatech in maintaining the same growth that they had enjoy in the coming 3-5 yrs?

June 19 for GENM, June 20 for GENTING. That Alan Wong said 20/6 because he said he has switched from GENM to GENTING.

The CAGR of Greatech in the last 4 yrs are definitely eye catching. However, with their main customer First Solar accounted to >87% of the revenue, what is the prospect of it maintaining the current CAGR? First Solar sales are shrinking year by year, and their solar panel isn't the most efficient in the market either compared the its peers. Greatech's 2nd major customer is Panasonic, and their sales to Panasonic has been stagnant for yr 2017 & 2018. And Greatech does not have any long term contract with either customer. Maybe someone can enlighten me any future prospects of Greatech that is on their pipeline that could provide additional growth?

my average 2.76, plus the special dividend of 0.9, already earn 1.42 in dividends. Reinvest all dividends proceeds when the price adjusted lower each time. Hold long enough the returns gonna be great. haha

Don’t simply mislead ppl la. The company only sought authorization from shareholders on the recent concluded EGM to approve the company for share buy back. This does not mean they must buy back any shares, it merely announce to Bursa their intention. Also 10% is the limit a company’s treasury can hold any outstanding shares as per regulation of bursa.

lol HIBISCS is not a speculative stock, because of how transparent the company's financial is, everyone can easily forecast its profit and so it lack the surprise element. If u chase high recently thinking it can return u high return in DAYS then ur definitely in the wrong stock. Only QR can push up this stock, therefore if u hold it long enough u will be rewarded.

From press release "The Board of Directors (Board) has declared a special single-tier dividend of 8.0 sen per ordinary share.
The Board has also recommended a final single-tier dividend of 5.0 sen per ordinary share. If approved,
total dividend for FY18 would amount to 19.0 sen per ordinary share, comprising an interim single-tier
dividend of 6.0 sen per ordinary share, a special single-tier dividend and a proposed final single-tier
dividend mentioned above. This represents a 12% increase from the previous year."

FY2019, they have hedge 52% of Brent at USD63. In the case if fuel price were to spike up like 2018, the impact to earnings will be much smaller. Also, some future maintenance cost of leasing planes has been accrued in Q4 2018. So the cost side is better manage for FY2019. Presumably, if the load factors increase back to 2017 levels, and with the air freight service taking off, FY2019 indeed could be an interesting year. 2019Q1 result will show if this is true or not.

I think they misjudged their fuel hedging strategy big time in 2018 in both AA & AAX. 2019 will show the true colors for both. On paper, the strategy onward are sound and hopefully the management are able to execute it. Correction in the share price in AA is inevitable, for mid to long term investor this may present a great opportunity to buy.

price could trade around 2.60 or below for some time. This could trigger weak holders & retailers to dump the shares. While those that truly recognize the prospect and value of the company would chip in to invest, rather than speculators that bought expecting x amount or y amount of special dividend, this maybe the necessary catalyst to support and drive the price upward in the long term. But with the uncertain global economies and expected volatility of fuel price in the near term, this stock is definitely not for the faint of heart.
