Crude oil price is so low at 50. what is the motivation for people to go for alternative energy ? cost effective ?

in this coming 10 years , the world still need crude... when oil at 150 USD . tom and harry will come develop alternative energy la.. remember last time when oil at 150 during abdullah time .
everyone talk about hybrid cars...now how many hybrid cars on the road ?
