kcchongnz, keep strong my friend. Your intentions are known only to you and your Maker. As I shared with Mr Ooi last week: when you get caustic and negative comments, that is the time to be most grateful for your own spirit of generosity. People like yourself, Mr Ooi, etc are generous by nature and that is why you will always be successful.
Know that there are many, many forumers like myself who are grateful for your unconditional contributions.
May I wish you, your loved ones (and those who oppose you) all the very best of positivity, health, happiness and success in this year and the years to come. Salam

tptan45, atrophy of the brain is a process where the number of brain cells being generated is less than the number of cells that are dying. Modern neuroscience has proven that this is not true because no matter how old we are, our brain is capable of growing and developing as long as we keep ourselves mentally and physically active

Dear Mr Ooi, as I've said in a previous thread: the unconditional generosity of people like yourself and kcchongnz is what makes you a success. There will always be people in this world who are addicted to misery and who lack the capacity to take responsibility for the decisions that they make. That is why they look to blame others when they have made a bad decision. Be grateful when you come across people like this because they should remind you that you are the exact opposite of them!
May you prosper greatly in this year

hng33, I've followed a number of your posts - not just in connection with TMS. You always seem to comment with a good deal of research and fact. People like you are successful because you have an in-born spirit of generosity. I wish you a fabulous and prosperous year ahead

tony, it's a free on-line course that's delivered through video lectures and assignments. Go to this site: www.coursera.org and you'll find a whole lot of free courses that are really fascinating. Sigh....so many exciting new things to learn, so little time...

kcchongnz, I did buy the Dorsey book but my interest was 'hijacked' at the same time by another book titled 'Your Money and Your Brain' by Jason Zweig. This really appealed to my interest in investing from the perspective of neuroscience and human behaviour. So, I'm reading that now. There's an on-line course that I'm following as well currently called 'Think Again:How to Reason and Argue'. I'm mentioning this because much of it deals with the type of language that typical con-men and spin doctors use. It is very interesting especially when I see it in the context of some posts on the i3 forum. Let's just say that not everyone is driven by altruistic intentions!

kcchongnz, you must be a mind reader! I was going to ask your help with understanding ROE ratios before deciding to invest in a couple of counters but your 10.08pm post of 25/1 answered before I could ask.
Thank you for that

A bit difficult for parliament to be dissolved when the PM is not in the country, don't you think?

Dear kcchongnz, teik bee, NIS, tony lim, reyes, et al,
I am a complete newbie to investing and have been following this forum (which I found completely by chance, btw) for the past few weeks.
My interest is mainly in mid to long-term investments and I did not realize that there's so much to learn!
I am bowled over by the generosity of spirit that you guys show in your sharing. Sure, I think you have a great deal of interest and passion in investing, but it takes a fundamentally generous spirit to share with the effort and depth that someone like kcchongnz does.
This may not have occurred to you guys before, but it is your generosity of spirit that makes you guys a success. I do not have quantitative data to support this assertion but I do have years of experience in seeing how this comes to fruition in people around me.
I'm afraid that I cannot reciprocate with analysis and contribution of a similar kind to you guys. However, I do have a fair degree of competence in understanding and interpreting human behaviour, individually and in groups. I'll be very pleased to extend any insights and sharing with the same degree of generosity that you guys continue to show. You can reach me at petepereira19@gmail.com.
May you be blessed abundantly this 2013.
Best Regards
Pete

kcchongnz, there is a rule I live by: "if someone gives you a recommendation and it goes well, hold the person responsible and express your gratitude...if it does not go well, hold yourself responsible, learn from it and then let go"
I think this helps to cultivate personal responsibility for our decisions and from a psychological perspective, is a much healthier and happier way to live
