good explanation kcchongnz.
Guys, wait till before CNY. The company has been doing well all the while, so if there's good news in near future, a good news supported by its profitable track record. Hold and reap.
Thanks

well personally, the fundamental is okay, profit making with uptrend. Thought the price-earnings ratio not attractive. Now the price is same as Pelikan (which is loss-marking for few millions), so the share price is definitely abnormal. Just like Airasia, panic sell-down. One point to learn is, unless there are bad news taking place within a company, no reason for a people who's holdings shares to dispose at a lower price and continuously doing that with their volume in hands creating depressed sell-down. So if a drop is "abnormal",meaning when the trading price recovers to "normal", it will be above the trading price when it is "abnormal".I look at it, good news all the while for CSL yet sharp drop in price, therefore I foresee a rebound.
Well,i might follow the old China-man style by waiting until Chinese New Year, when the Chinese bosses wanna make a quick bucks for their ang pau money.
Good luck in the bull fight!

i'm in the industry where i see the owners of the company practically coming up to the my office and i see it in front of me, my boss advising to push up or down.
For non-blue chip with owner controlling, alot of times, really depend on whether or not the owner wanna flip the finger or not.

the stock market is shit now, except for blue chip and speculative counter. this stock is damaged, although fundamental is very strong (provided the financial statements are audited properly).
you can opt to sell, keep ur cash to lick ur wound and stop ur panic, but don't think of jumping the wagon straight away unless u have strong insider tips. but sell higher price yah cause i'm still holding hahaha

Quoted ,
"Almost all the time I come across players who allow rear to grip them once a big bet goes against them.. More often than not this fear phenomena is a result of overtrading ie buying beyond one's means and holding power...this "uneasy " fear factor feeds on itself and may sometimes result in irrational actions like selling off everything ( including good shares ) just to feel at ease again...It is this panic selling phenomena that a trained investor or player should avoid...question is how ? My thoughts are these...
A) Don't buy beyond one's comfort zone no matter how tempted you are for quick profits
B) For speculative ( and hence normally poor quality ) stocks buy with an eye to sell almost immediately if it goes against you...the more you buy the quicker you should exit ,either way
C) For quality stocks practise the art of cost averaging .possibly with wider bid spread for each entry level.
( provided you didnt use up all the funds from start ) ...A good stock will always rebound from its low ...it is a question of when , not whether it will or not, all unit trust and fund managers do that...
D) resist the thought that by selling a good loss making stock ,you can hitch a ride on another stock ...chances are the one you are selling may rebound and the "exciting " stock you now buy may be under "distribution " pattern by operators...in which case you will suffer a double loss !
E) Be patient...Broad market forces cannot be controlled...relax and wait it out!"

Good advice.
I'm currently holding a damaged China based Bursa-listed stock. The fundamental is strong, however, it is general perception that accounting fraud is a norm for oversea-listed China based companies. Therefore, fundamental strong or not remains a question.
Anyway, i shall wait for the next bull market and not cutting loss as of now.
Thank you.

May i note u that HSBC and Maybank nominees do not mean that HSBC and Maybank are investing. It's people buying the shares through a bank nominee, so it's not HSBC and Maybank investing.

1. If you are looking at short-term, maybe need to cut loss now and look for other alternatives. However, considering the current market condition, unless u have strong insider tips (directly from owners of the listed companies, but a lot of times even if u know the owner they might not share true news also),and unless it's a blue chip stock, touch the market again after the Malaysia election outcome is certain.
2.Pray hard, wait for favourable election outcome to CSL, and hopefully CSL will come back and goreng during the bull market.
2012-11-07 22:39 | Report Abuse
The market sentiment is equally crucial as well. Based on technical analysis which takes into consideration the daily market sentiment (which is why u receive daily newsletter from your investment bank's analyst team every morning, which was done in less than 2 hours time every morning). Therefore, technical analysis would have good perception on this stock in short term, and by looking at the chart it's already broken the support, not to mentioned already trading below the IPO offer price. Technical analyst would most likely advise to cut-loss at this point. Fundamentalist such as professionals who work in corporate finance would take into account many items in the financial statement, because the shareholder circular that they have drafted is very much directing to long term investing decision. However, like in our case, CSL is fundamentally fairly strong (at least much stronger than its listed peers in Bursa Malaysia), but the market perception and the panic created in the share slip would not attract investors. Therefore, to those who still wanna hold on, you may combine technical analaysis + fundamental analysis
2012-11-07 22:38 | Report Abuse
3.Based on 2011 annual report, 75% of the shareholding is held by the director of CSL through a related company incorporated in HK. Therefore, i would say China economy and Malaysia's political condition are major factor in the eyes of CSL's management. But from what i learned from equity analyst, foreign investors are concerned in their investment's political stability. Before the election outcome is certain, foreign investors would normally pull out their investment and place back after the political condition is stable. Therefore, it's normal for CSL to temporarily sell off their stake and hopefully press down the price to collect at a lower price, and hopefully to make a profit by jacking up the price again later. So let's wait after the Malaysia election, and hopefully it's being goreng again.
4. Public release of its attempt to build a production plant in Malaysia. Early in the year, the company has said that they intend to utilise the proceeds received from IPO to build a plant in Malaysia. However, how true is that story is unknown. Referring to the above, hopefully after election and CSL's confidence in Malaysia's political stability is regained, they will embark on their plan to build a plan.
5. It has declared interim dividend. If there's an interim declared, most likely there will be a final. And it shows a good sign. Meaning the company has actual cash, and is committed to give out to investors.
There are also some risk factors we need to consider. Firstly, there are alot of doubts over China based companies over the globe as several exchanges in different countries discovered accounting fraud fro China based companies. Therefore, the general perception over here in Malaysia towards China based stocks are reserved, eventhough the fundamental is performing strong. Secondly, the company does not have a concrete operation in Malaysia. Companies get listed because they want money from the public, and it will lead to why they want t raise money from Malaysia, which most of the time they will answer that they wanna explore east Asian market, prefer Bursa Malaysia and blablabla. It could be indicating that the company wants to shift wealth from China to Malaysia, we don't know. Thirdly, based on Dec 2011's annual report, major shareholder of 75% is held by own people, therefore they have strong manipulation power over the price. In a way, they can easily jack up the price and we can faster cabut after taking profit. Conversely, a small click can create a depress sell down of the price. Thirdly, the current share market is currently bearish for every stock.

Let me share some view to my fellow investors.
1. CSL is fundamentally healthy, and some other counters with less profit earned compared to CSL is having a higher share price.
2. Warrants are issued with an exercise price of RM1.15. Other Bursa listed China-based companies did not issue warrant, only CSL.Companies issued warrant in order to raise cash (company doesn't get cash from bonus share, please google for the difference in raising bonus share vs. warrant). Therefore, the best scenario for all companies is that all warrant holders exercise their warrants so that the company will get cash by exercising at RM1.15. In order to make holders exercise, their share price wou ld have to be at least above RM1.15 before the expired period of 5 years. Look at the recent announcement of Glomac, their warrants exercise price is RM0.50 (if i have read carefully) and they have just expired, their current share price is RM0.84. Of course, i doubt a loss making company's share price is capable of performing above the issued warrants' exercise price. Thus, let's hope no major accident happened to the company and continue to be profit making, so that the company can commit to make the share price perform above the exercise price

bird_81, your link doesn't show me anything. Why don't u type out what it is so that i know what figure it represents? Any financial result posted will be announced. The only financial result we can expect is 30 September 2012 which will be announced before end of this month

sotsot1986 : based on my rough calculation, this counter previously declared the 1.8 sen dividend, with an approximately 1bil shares currently, the dividend is amounting to RM18 mil. Therefore, RM18 mil over it's 6-months profit of RM123 mil is about 15%. So another 5% also not significant at all. Moreover, any promise made by the Company, if it's not official means it's not a promise, unless you are certain with the owner's intention. China's election? I thought it's already past.

Let me answer the question from bird_81 first.
I have the impression that you do not really read financial statements well. Please be detailed of the "RMB" financial section. Income statement? Balance sheet? and which financial year end.
Whether a company is making profit or loss, we need to look at the "statement of comprehensive income". Please go to Bursa website and look at the annual report of this counter. The company is making profit at uptrend since 5 years ago. The 6-months result to 30 June 2012 can also be seen here http://www.bursamalaysia.com/market/listed-companies/company-announcements/1045537 . It's clear that the net profit is positive, but I'm not sure if it's in RMB, and it's only half year result.
But then again, whether a company making alot of profit or not doesn't matter. I'll give my view in detail in next post.

bird_81, what negative? the profit is still there.
juggernault, you are right. The no. of shares are just too huge, more than 1 billion. Very low EPS. I wonder how did the ppl come out with 5 to 6 price-to-earning ratio during the IPO.
Should there is no accounting fraud with the company, this counter is fundamentally strong. But then again, we need to look out for some factors commonly took place in koyak oversea listed China-based companies. There were cases where China companies list in outside China to transfer wealth or just to get away from China authorities' scrutiny.
Anyway, i'm so emo now. Dunno whether to cut loss or not. Depress sell down right now.

has to be end of this month. listed company must submit their quarterly financial results to the Exchange not later than 2 months of the quarter end. So septermber result should be announced before end of Nov. The profit might be hit by the economy crisis took place in Western countries in my view, considering that CSL has bigger market shares in foreign countries.

the payout date doesn't matter at all...even selling the shares now also can get dividend. Probably just wait for the 3rd quarter financial result
