In fact most banks margins are hit by covid but being the largest bank will definitely be dragged down far worse than its peers. Expect the unexpected coming..maybe a surprising big fall in profits or even losses in next quarter

Banks are very calculative. With all SME and corporations suffer losses, banks will not give out dividends during recession. Maybank is no different

Don't be so optimistic that banks are sure win or profits guaranteed. This pandemic may cause banks to post huge losses and dividend payouts not sustainable

So those who goreng properties like using compressed loan tactics alike cheating banks in order to hold multiple properties will survive nowadays? Supply gluts and lack of demands due to loss of jobs and businesses. You've seen how these properties goreng kakis especially the sifus nowadays suddenly revealing their trade secrets by having many sohai subscribe to their advice classes seminars forums to learn a few things. Too late into the games after property bull run. Maybank sure will have more Non-Performing-Loans writedown. Good luck for those who invest into Maybank. Hope this warn u all better before collapse.

HP loans accounted for RM49.9 billion or 9.5 per cent of Maybank's total outstanding loans in Malaysia of RM523.49 billion as at end-2019, Affin Hwang said.

Yesterday BNM cut OPR 50 basis points. Banks' earnings guarantee will fall like waterfall because they rely on higher interests to charge on loans to customers. If all banks follow instructions of FM Zafrul's suggestion to not charge on accrued interests on Hire Purchase loans, it will hit banks' earnings even further. Banking sector will be downgraded considerably. Maybank is one of them....

See the above. Completed and unsold properties hitting RM 41.5 billions! No joke! So Maybank being the largest bank in Malaysia...for sure it has large exposure to the local housing market in loans...be it loans to developers or buyers. That should point to Non Performing Loans are rising among Malaysian banks.

stocksyndicate, do u understand any of the above?

For sure BNM will continue with more OPR cuts to shore up the economy and SMEs. Do u know what OPR reduction means to all banks in Malaysia? That means banks will earn a lot less on interests income. That is just one reason why banks will suffer more.

How about Non Performing Loans (NPL), personal or business mortgage/loan defaults, bank industry's profit margin compression? To add matters worse, banks could reduce dividends or cancelled all dividends to preserve their capitals. Do u not know in Europe they passed the law to forbid banks to give out dividends? In Australia, NAB also does the same. U think Maybank the highest capped listed company in Bursa will not mitigate their own risks which are obvious already? Think carefully.

Stock

Some sohhai think banks sure safe? All banks suffer profit margin compression, increasing NPL and risks of more defaults. These are already enough to send banking stocks downward. Go google around the web also u can see that more & more banks have cut their dividends payout while some have cancelled dividend altogether.
