So many "if". So let's say none of that happened, can mbb rally to rm12.40? If not, then is not worth the risk.

Even if Le Pen is selected as one of the president candidates, the stock price is not like to plummet. it has been already priced in. Her support rate has been always in the 2nd place.
Due to tax cut expectation in the US, the stock price may consolidate further.

I am just wondering what exactly is driving up the price this round .....etiqa potential listing? Election? Crossing key resistance 1750? Dividend 32c? The high volume that is moving the price has to be smart money/big boys most probably foreign investors.....

@bsngpg I didn't mention MBB price....I said broader market will pull back (after last weeks run) and close down by 30pts this week!
Read carefully then comment.

Not dumping ... rather accumulating for the medium-term as they see Maybank climbing to RM10 and beyond (I know because my wife is one of the ESOS beneficiaries).

Hi sifu here, Maybank latest Dividend Ex 4-May, if take the DRS rights, then can opt to use the div to buy at RM8.25. Buy today at big discount at current price of 9.65 and good profit already?! Is this correct? then everyone will want to buy today?! http://www.maybank.com/en/investor-relations/dividends/dividend-reinvestment-plan/Current_DRP.page

Unless you can buy in big qty, else you do not ready get much from the discount after transactions and handling fee.

If you have just 1000 units, must as well opt for cash div rather than DRP to avoid expensive bank charge and odd lot.

@bsngpg hi thanks comments, you are right. I did a calculation, if buy 1000 shares @9.65 = cost RM9,650; Div 22c => RM220 to buy at 8.25 => 22 shares The difference in price 9.65 - 8.25 = 1.40; 1.40 gain x 22 shares = RM30.80 after deduct RM10 LHDN stamp & 0.80 postage, = RM20 *Therefor is only a gain of RM20 or 0.2% by putting in RM9,650; not worth it ..... Hhh

Posted by riddler2k84 > 2017-05-03 22:43 | Report Abuse

@remus, I think your calculation is wrong. should be 26.66 shares.

I thought the share price usually will drop by 32cents right after the market open at dividend-ex date. You may not earn that much, right?

Why drop so much? Dividend-ex date is today.

what meaning for entitlement date & Ex Date?

ZeaXG

303 posts

Posted by ZeaXG > 2017-05-04 11:36 | Report Abuse

Anyone correct me if I am wrong but this is my understanding about entitlement date & Ex-date.

Basically if you want to receive the dividend, you have to buy the shares at least 1 day before ex-date. Entitlement date is usually 2 working days after ex-date, in order to give the company time to update its shareholder list. If you buy the shares after ex-date and sell it before entitlement date, you will not be eligible to receive dividend.

In short, buy the shares before ex-date if you want dividend. Ignore entitlement date, it's not important to you.

Posted by Wendy Chua > 2017-05-04 12:08 | Report Abuse

@ZeaXG Let's say I bought the shares 1days before ex-date and will sell at ex-date. I will get the dividend? or must sell after entitlement date?

Posted by Mary Tan Ling > 2017-05-04 12:12 | Report Abuse

@ZeaXG, like maybank exdate is 4May, if sell maybank b4 4May or on 4May then NOT entitled for the 6June dividend. right?

Another important note to consider: as long as you purchase a stock prior to the ex-dividend date, you can then sell the stock any time on or after the ex-dividend date and still receive the dividend. A common misconception is that investors need to hold the stock through the record date or pay date
