Hahahaha. Nampaknya samseng besar nak turunkan bursa sampai 1700 mata. Yang berani jadi takut, yang takut sampai mati. Yang separuh mati masuk parit. Begitulah kitaran hidup, saham oh saham. Tapi yang sabar dapat duit besar, yang tak sabar pun dapat ang pow kaw kaw. Asal beli murah jual mahal.

when Malaysia increase interest rates? Our weak ringgit causing imported goods to be very expensive. Causing high inflation.

Because of the publicity it is getting, kangkung is getting more expensive. Soon it will be out of reach for the poor to be able even to eat kangkung.

The worst isn’t over for emerging markets after the benchmark stock index sank to a five-month low and the nations’ currencies tumbled, said Templeton Emerging Markets Group’s Mark Mobius. “The negative sentiment is pretty much in place so you can expect a lot of selling in the coming weeks, especially companies that have high foreign exposures"

if u want to invest in maybank, u need to always accumulate from their DRP. thus hold the share for few years will found the maybank dividend is actually increased. the dividend lesser might due to the share quantity increased on previous DRP. by right the dividend is more than expected. you can refer to RHB lately research, their estimation only around 28.5 sen

here is what i referred, i notice maybank actually hit 2014 target somehow, but if u all read the latest accounts book i notice a -1bil in cash flows.. not sure what happend.. it is a huge money lost that we should understand :

http://klse.i3investor.com/servlets/ptres/20989.jsp

Dividends. We expect a final net DPS of 28.5 sen (4Q12: 28.5 sen net), bringing the full-year net DPS to 51 sen (FY12: net DPS of 52.5 sen). This assumes a net payout ratio of 70%, which is likely to be on the
conservative side given that Maybank has been paying out 74-80% of its earnings in the last four financial years/period.

Maybank actually payout more dividends in FY13 compared to FY12.

Interim FY12: 32sen 25% tax. {net=24sen}
Final FY12: 33sen (ie 18sen 25% tax + 15sen ST) {net=28.5sen}
(ST = single-tier)
Total FY12: 65sen gross, 52.5sen net.

Interim FY13: 22.5sen ST {net: 22.5sen}
Final FY13: 31sen ST {net: 31 sen}
Total FY13: 53.5sen net.

Hence FY13 has higher net dividends.

For those who don’t know the difference between franked dividend (with tax) & single-tier dividend (without tax):

For franked dividend, the company transfers their tax credit (tax paid) to the shareholders & the gross dividend amount is added to the taxable income of the shareholder & is taxed according to the tax rate of the shareholder. For shareholders with little or no taxable income, they can claim back most or all the tax.

For single-tier dividend, the company cannot transfer their tax credit to the shareholders & government pockets all the tax. From 2014, all dividends are single-tier.

for small invester like me,i submitted income tax yearly and are able to claim back the 25% of tax which paid by the company to LHDN,thus for 2012 i obtained all the RM650,but for year 2013,only RM535,so that's why i said maybank paid lesser dividend.

Any recommendations on Maybank? it continued to prove to be the best in SEA, but it does not have a good steward to bring it to further heights. Im afraid that it may not perform well in FY 15. Whats ur opinion? I intend to hv a banking stocks in my portfolio, which do u recommend?>

Just wondering guys. When does a company decide to give single tier dividend and when do they decide if they wanna give franked dividends? Is it just based on their good mood and financials? (what i always assume la) Or is there some sort of mechanism to it? Thanks.

It has to do with the tax credit a company accumulated before 2008. From 2008, government allows a 6 years transition period where a company may pay franked dividend using the tax credit available in their section 108 account. After they finished their balance, they will have to go to single-tier dividends.
