More profit to the bank, that's for sure but on the hind side, less people can afford to get a loan. At the same time, more people will hv to fork out more for repayment. With GST at the door, only the richest and stable rules...

Hi invmudah, what was ideal for long term back then I really didn't know but for me I just invested what I could afford n invested 10,000 shares at the average price of RM4.52 which during that time was quite high.

Just read AMMB's latest report on Maybank, the general sentiment sounds very pessimistic on Q2 performance, wonder what the analyst already know.. Anyway, Maybank is still my top pick amongst banks. Would think the stiff competition and NIM compression is an industry-wide issue not just for Maybank

I would think may bank would start to consider acquiring one of the smaller banks as they have been #1 since I can remember.. So Ambank ? Alliance ? Or Affin ?

I think depends on the CIMB-RHB-MBSB deal is on or not. Read some research analysis, if the mega deal did not pass through, Maybank may consider counterbid on RHB. IF the merger happened.. perhaps Ambank or Alliance may be the next target. Then again that's all just market's guess, who knows

firstly, please understand that everyone can make a comment here. it's up to you to believe it or not. if you find a comment hard to believe, its best to ignore or challenge/seek clarification.getting personal does not help.

as for my RM8.8 comment - it's based on my macro view of the broad market. i opine that anytime from now, bursa will go start to south and definately Maybank will drop.

another basis of my comment comes from "sources" which i cant reveal too much. of course my "source's" source could change their plan....right?

wait and watch; let's see how the Index looks like in Jan'15

myshare - i have been owning Maybank since 2009 when it was RM4.8...and yes, also enjoying the DRP which they offered a few times at RM8.8 and more recently RM9.2

well let's wait and watch, RM11 or RM8.8 by Jan'15 - Happy investing.

to me, either ways is a reason to celebrate, right?
