The upcoming recession could be a great opportunity for bargain hunters. Analysts are positive on Bank Islam and 6 other stocks as mentioned in the link below:

From our sensitivity analysis, we estimated that every 25bps OPR hike would expand sector net interest margin (NIM) by 5-6bps which in turn, bump up earnings forecast by 4-5% (on a full year basis, without taking into account of potential market-to-market losses and higher defaults); Alliance and BIMB would gain most

Dakewlest Anyone buying?
25/07/2022 5:21 AM

Yes !

Mabel bought much earlier in 2020. This is one of the counter that Mabel just buy and forget.

Now Mabel did even better. Early this month, Mabel bought BIMB Perpetual Sukuk Al Wakalah. Mabel's Tiger Bank Premier Club made an attractive offer that Mabel cannot refuse..

Looking forward for another Yum Yum Yummy soon from this bank..

Yum Yum Yum so Yummy

The bank declared a first interim dividend of 28 sen per share. It is to be accompanied by an applicable dividend reinvestment plan — whereby seven sen can be elected to be reinvested in new shares.

Profit getting less for every quarter now. No dividend also. Not sure if divestment of STAMB a good move.

No wonder market price keep on sliding ..... bcos earning also sliding ......

For the second quarter ended 30 June 2022 (“2Q2022”), Bank Islam Group achieved a profit before zakat and tax (“PBZT”) of RM181.2 million, a decrease of RM79.3 million or 30.4% over the PBZT of the
corresponding quarter last year (“2Q2021”) of RM260.5 million. The decrease in PBZT was mainly due to lower net income and higher total overheads.

On the good side, revenue is resilient. I think EPF dumping shares slowly for sometime now.

Dividend 10 cents become big news, comon it was down from RM3.00 just 7 months ago. Earn 10c dividend not even enough to cover the capital losses. What a joke

hi long-term holders of Bank Islam. During the corporate exercise last year - from BHB to Bank Islam - Bank Islam assumed the listing status right? The 1 for 1 shares of Bank Islam that you guys got was adjusted to lower price? Cause i remember BHB traded upwards of rm4 one time, now i look at price chart, highest is like 3.30 level only.

sorry noob question, recently relooking this counter

Anybody got answer?

Posted by NoTimeToTrade > 2023-01-30 17:26 | Report Abuse

BIMB's gross impaired financing (GIF), meaning the average % of customers that are unable to pay their loans, is very very high, from end of 2021 to end of 2022, that percentage jumped up to 32%, compared to other banks only with only 12%. Meaning 1/3 of their customers unable to pay their loans. So if recession come, BIMB is a gone case already. The only reason i see people continuing to support this counter is because the bank's name is related to one's religion.

Looking at charts for all banks, most of them are looking like they will have a correction soon. Its your money, you do some more research and decide.

@NoTimeToTrade, i think u got comprehension problem..jump to 32% is not the same with jump by 32% hahaha..

And from that u implying that 1/3 of loan are not paid? Without BNM intervention?seriously?

BI's Dec 2021 GIF only 0.96%. How the hell it jump to 32%? Where u got that 1/3 figure?
Here i copied Aminvestment Dec 2022 on BIMB GIF in Dec 2022.
"BI’s gross impaired financing (GIF) ratio increased slightly to 1.2% in 3QFY22 from 1.14% in 2QFY22."

risiko dah cukup rendah... kadar pulangan agak lumayan... ok ok add lah.

We continue to believe that the banking sector has a balanced risk-reward profile. Tailwinds which were supposed to be enjoyed by banks (like big NIM expansion, strong credit growth) over FY22-23 have instead been frontloaded to last year, turning the next 10 months to be less exciting. Furthermore, banks may now have to grapple with possibly steeper cost of funds, smaller NOII, and loans growth. However, undemanding sector valuations and decent dividend yield of 5% are solaces that would provide downside support to share prices. Regardless, we have four BUY calls under our coverage, namely: (i) RHB (TP: RM6.60), (ii) AMMB (TP: RM4.35), (iii) Alliance (TP: RM4.15), and (iv) BIMB (TP: RM3.00). The quartet share a common trait of inexpensive valuations and recent price weakness turned their risk-reward profile to become more favourable than the other banks we follow.
