As I said before Najib got a big headache from 1MDB and come Sept first loan repayment to
foreign banks is Due. But I heard these foreign banks are pushing for Early repayment.
Azmin knew this and he twisting the rope tighter. The chances of Najib snapping is greater
now. Maybe a compromise is in making.

Well, with less water consumption per capita, whether by choice or by force, the scenario does suggest a relative advanced economy, haha...

Water restructuring: CM & Minister meeting next week

SHAH ALAM, 13 May: A meeting between the Chief Minister and the Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) will be held next week to find a solution regarding the Selangor water industry restructuring issue.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that the meeting is expected to resolve some issues, ultimately benefiting the people.

“Yesterday, I received a short message on the meeting with the minister in the next few days.

“I have prepared the arguments to be discussed with the Minister early next week and we hope that this discussion will lead to a solution,” said Mohamed Azmin.

He said this to reporters after launching the “Khalifah Umar Abdul Aziz” book by Dr Ali Muhammad As-Shallabi at the Concorde Hotel today.

When touching on the construction of the Langat 2 Project, Mohamed Azmin said that the state government will continue to provide support towards the project.

“We agreed in principle that we should support the construction of Langat 2, as I previously said before the application was reviewed by the local authority and they need to meet the requirements set by the local authority and we will approve it.

“There is no problem because we need Langat 2 and we hope that it will be completed according to schedule,” added Mohamed Azmin.

Prior to this, the water restructuring agreement expired after KeTTHA violated the terms of the agreement by requesting a postponement for the third time.

Both Azmi and Ongkili must settle their dispute over syabas land ownership and 2 treatment plant, bukit nanas and semenyih in the next week meeting. Another thing is to discuss possible request of Puncak to increase take over price, which still pending Puncak board decision.

Think puncak raising price is to only facilitate quicker resolution, at least that's how azmin sees it. Another possibility, ongkili will use wasia to compel azmin if he didn't compromise by then citing supply concern n high potential of much higher cost

I have little faith in Azmin on the water restructuring too. Either he's truly loyal to Selangor people and deem the deal too bad for Selangor or he's real crook sabotaging a deal to benefit himself or PKR. I can only hope for a more decisive Ongkili to push through this deal to take Puncak shareholders off the responsibility to serve water to Selangor for humiliation.

hmm... the best would be to lock Azmin and Ongkili into a room without washroom and deny release until a deal is sealed (by Selangor people?).

NGO push for faster water industry restructuring

PETALING JAYA: The water industry in Selangor ought to be finally restructured, and the Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant project completed as soon as possible, a prominent water NGO has urged.

In a press statement, Aldric Loong, president of the Water Association of Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya (Swan) questioned the recent statement by Selangor Mentri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali, who claimed the water reserves and water levels at all dams are sufficient.

“This is ironic, as various incidents of raw water contamination since the beginning of 2015 has caused treatment plants to temporarily close, leading to water disruptions in many areas throughout Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.”

Loong stated if the water reserves were enough as Azmin claimed, why were disruptions still occurring, with no contingency plan in sight to resolve it.

Additionally, said Loong, Swan felt that Azmin had taken Syabas CEO Tan Sri Rozali Ismail’s statement out of context, noting water usage demand throughout the state increased by 3.5% annually, with the 34 treatment plants working at maximum capacity and close to overloading to meet the demand.

Loong emphasised for the restructuring and Langat 2 project to be ready as soon as possible so as to meet rising demands and avoid similar water crises in the near future.

Why the company haven't announce the timeline for the next deadline? Is't the notice from the gov to ask for the extension haven't been receive? Is't all too familiar with the last time which azmin said that the agreement are lapse and void? With ongkili said the water deal must quickly seal and the ball now is in azmin court, is azmin still interested?Recent comment from him offer mixed view. On one hand he said he wish the water restructuring can realize but on the other he said the water reserved is not in crisis and he will stick with the term of the agreement which according to his term the land is not the part of the asset to be transfer and the semenyih and bukit nanas water asset is belong to selangor. Ongkili already explain on March that they only want the access to the land and explain the ownership problem of the mention water asset is the misinterpretation of the officer involved and so they'll seek other water plant or asset as pawn for the rm 2 billion given to state gov to seal the deal but i must ask since then why there is hardly any progress have been made ? Even Sultan Selangor also say must solved quickly but after more than 2 month, it's still stagnate. My personal view is i think next week meeting is very important and reflect whether azmin is interested.

Remember last time the state gov n fed both also say will very fast to seal the deal . But until today the water restructuring still pending . I rather buy higher also not to give them trap me in this lower price. For my opinion the deal can't be done at this meeting .

To me, Azmin is not interested at all, otherwise, he would have called to make appointment, rather than WRITTING A LETTER. Though, like it or not, should there be a drought and water rationing become serious, they will move faster while claiming the other side is causing the delay... Sigh!

Everything so difficult why Puncak cannot straight away increase water tariff? Perhaps Puncak management learn from TNB how to tackle rising cost as both are utilities company.

if I were not wrong, water tariff should be much higher should contracts are enforced. Think its because water is state issue

buying more puncak. Regardless with the deal o not, it is undervalue now. If the deal is call off, puncak should be able to reinstate all the profit into the account. The only thing I'm not sure is wasia but in this case, it is not puncak not willing to sell. So I guess federal government can't take it without paying.

If opposition state Penang can raise water tariff why Puncak(Selangor also opposition state) cannot?
