BEIJING: Bank Negara Malaysia has opened a representative office here to promote bilateral trade and investment between Malaysia and China.
The office will serve as an important liaison point with China's regulators and financial market participants to support a deeper understanding of both countries' economic and financial developments.
The establishment of the office here marked another milestone in bilateral ties between Malaysia and China, said Bank Negara Malaysia Governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz in her opening remarks today.
"This also reflected the deepening financial and economic linkages between the two countries," she said.
The Beijing office is the third overseas representative office established by Bank Negara Malaysia in addition to its offices in London and New York.
Also present was International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.-- Bernama
