AIZO GROUP BERHAD PARTICIPATES IN MOU SIGNING TO JOINTLY DEVELOP A TIER 4 DATA CENTRES PARK IN SARAWAK

A Strategic Collaboration with Sarawak Government and Netrunner, a Maiden Venture into Data Centre

KUALA LUMPUR, 16 OCTOBER 2024 AIZO Group Berhad ("AIZO" or the "Company"), formerly known as Minetech Resources Berhad, is pleased to announce its signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) with Netrunner Sdn. Bhd. (“Netrunner”) to explore the development of a state-of-the-art Tier 4 data centres park in Sarawak.

Earlier in the day, Netrunner also signed a separate MoU with MUT and Syarikat SESCO Berhad (“SESCO”) during the IDECS 2024 event, reinforcing the importance of this collaboration in aligning Sarawak’s digital infrastructure with the state's vision for technological advancement.

The MoU will bring together the strengths of each party to ensure the successful development of the data centres. Netrunner, a Special Purpose Vehicle focused on attracting investments for a state-of-the-art data centres park in Sarawak, will lead the technical development and design of the Tier 4 Data Centres Park, ensuring it meets global standards in security, energy efficiency, and reliability. Subsequently, AIZO will play a key role by providing infrastructure support, including the development of clean energy solutions and water treatment facilities to ensure the sustainability of the data centres’ operations.

Witnessed by Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari, the Premier of Sarawak along with the representative of The Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak (“MUT”) which will provide regulatory guidance and facilitate the approvals necessary to align the project with Sarawak’s digital economy goals. This collaboration marks a significant step in Sarawak’s digital transformation, with the development of the Tier 4 Data Centre Park serving as a key infrastructure piece to enhance the state’s digital economy. By delivering secure, high-performance data management capabilities, the project is set to drive technological innovation, attract new investments, and bolster economic growth in the region.

Dato Abang Abdillah Izzarim, the Executive Chairman of AIZO, expressed his excitement for the project, stating: "This MoU is a significant milestone for all parties involved, and we are excited to contribute to Sarawak’s advancement into the digital age. Working alongside the Sarawak Government and Netrunner, we believe that the Tier 4 Data Centres Park will become a cornerstone for the region’s digital infrastructure. The signing of this MoU also represents AIZO’s maiden venture into the data centre industry. By entering the data centre market, AIZO is positioning itself to meet the rising demand for secure and efficient data management solutions, while reinforcing its commitment to innovation and sustainable development in Sarawak.
