一代糖王郭鹤年出走引起诸多揣测，早前网络更谣传郭鹤年不满马来西亚政府，并以其影响力导致我国油棕出口滞销。不过，工业、园丘和原产业部今日否认此事，并强调政府不曾亏待郭鹤年。
民主行动党木歪国会议员倪可汉今午在国会引述这则网络谣言，向原产部副部长韩查求证，我国油棕出口价下滑，是否因为郭鹤年影响了中国政府，以致中国减少入口大马油棕。
他声称，根据网上的消息，郭鹤年受到我国政府亏待，被迫把糖业生意让给企业大亨赛莫达；但由于郭鹤年控制了40%的中国食油市场，在郭鹤年拒绝使用我国棕油生产食油后，我国油棕出口价也不断下滑。
