Air Asia suffered major losses moving from subang to KLIA, then to LCCT. They were so small that time. Now AA has grown so big that they cant move in a day like Malindo or Cebu which has a tiny office and few planes.

Air Asia India, on the other hand, had been paying gaji buta since March 2013 with no end in sight. 7 pilots left and now they are looking for ATR pilots,..... First time I heard AA buying turbo props ATR instead of jets.

There is another news showing added routes for Malindo. KB-Penang, Subang-Batam, KLIA-Ahmandabad, etc. but dont know how good are the returns. I think Malindo is the ONLY airline in Malaysia that can START and STOP a route within 5 months. Miri started June, stopped Oct. Jb-KK started Oct, stop in Feb..etc. What is DCA doing? Hands tied?

Malindo's Chandran refutted the claims that Nadi is pulling out. He said they will add 15 more planes for 2014. On the other hand, flight attendants seem to be moving to greener pastures after "training" with malindo. Negative views are blocked by Malindo admin so you could hardly get updates from the FB anymore.

MAS has full govt, epf and taxpayers money at their disposal. Nothing we can do about that. Lost Rm350mil a quarter also no problem, how do you fight an airline who has the country GDP behind it?

LION just need to sign someone else if NADI exists, so unless the govt revoke the AOC or Service Licence there should be no impact to AA. AA stock not moving at all with this news....

NADI is unhappy that Lion is calling all the shots now? They had said they were only interested in maintenance and servicing, giving LION full control of management and flights. Either LION is making too much money or they keep asking for more money from NADI without letting NADI in the game.
Some analysts gave Malindo a year before it exists. Has the show began?

Why Kamaruddin has to remind Malaysians and the govt that AA is a Malaysian company? Dont they know? Just because Tony is not Malay, does not means he is not malaysian... Why are they supporting Indonesian company and sacrificing MAS and AA? MAS, has improved their sales but lost RM350mil in just a quarter.... that is our tax payer money! AA also suffered through drop in profit and now share price. No window dressing seems to be working..crawled up to 2.47, then back to 2.42 again...

AirAsia India is likely to secure a scheduled air operator’s permit (AOP) in January, after officials from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) visit the company’s training centre in Malaysia to certify operations.
A senior DGCA official said, “AirAsia will import aircraft into the country after it receives the no-objection certificate. We have to send our officials to Malaysia to certify operations at its training centre in Malaysia. We may be able to issue an AOP sometime in January.” AirAsia India had approached DGCA for the permit on October 4, two weeks after it received a no-objection certificate from the civil aviation ministry.
The official added the procedure for awarding an AOP was being conducted in accordance with CAP3100, which involves a checklist of 36 items. “DGCA has to scrutinise the airworthiness of the aircraft and the preparedness of crew to commence operations. Unless the recruitments are completed, we cannot go ahead with all the checks,” the official said. After receiving the permit, AirAsia India will have to apply to airport operators and DGCA for approval of routes and network, before launching the airline. According to latest available information, AirAsia India has 200 employees, including pilots, engineers and ground staff. In an interview with Business Standard earlier this year, AirAsia India Chief Executive Mittu Chandilya had said the airline would begin operations with 80-100 employees an aircraft, which would be reduced to 60-65 in a year.
The DGCA grants AOPs after assessing the preparedness of a start-up airline. For this, it examines issues such as availability of aircraft, manpower to operate flights and handle ground facilities, aircraft parking at airports and engineering facilities. AirAsia India is a joint venture between Malaysian airline AirAsia (which would own 49 per cent stake in the carrier), the Tatas (30 per cent) and Arun Bhatia-owned Telstra Tradeplace (21 per cent).

PETALING JAYA (Nov 24, 2013): Malindo Air will start thrice-weekly from Kuala Lumpur to Chittagong from Jan 2, 2014, marking its second route to Bangladesh.
The new flights will be operated by a new Boeing 737-900ER, said the hybrid airline in a statement last Friday.
Bookings are available now. The all-inclusive one-way fare starts from RM455 to Chittagong from Kuala Lumpur, and the all-in return fare is RM955.
Malindo Air CEO Chandran Rama Muthy said the new flights are the latest addition to the airline's long-term plan to convert Kuala Lumpur into its regional transit hub.
