Key drivers

1. Fundamentally, DNeX stands to benefit from the government’s plan to roll out vehicle entry permit and road charges (VEP & RC) at Malaysian borders.

As Budget 2018 draws closer, there could be potentially rollout for 2nd phase of VEP project as the allocation for this project could be revealed in this upcoming Budget or if not, it would be the government's off-balance sheet. The commencement of 2nd phase of VEP project (Malaysia-Thailand border) is expected to begin in 2018.

To recap, the company was awarded an RM45mil contract to install the 1st phase of the VEP at the Malaysia-Singapore border in Johor this year. The government plans to implement the VEP project at the other 12 road entry points in Malaysia in stages. The second phase will cover Malaysia’s border with Thailand and the third phase, the Malaysian borders with Brunei and Indonesia.

There is also potential for a recurring annual maintenance contract with regards to the VEP system.
2. DNEX is the exclusive operator of the National Single Window (NSW) platform, which provides trade facilitation services to the Customs Department for over 25 years. NSW services contributed the bulk of its earnings in FY12-15.
In September 2016, the government awarded DNEX a two-year extension on its contract, which will end next year. As DNEX is the exclusive operator of NSW, the contract could potentially be renewed.
Evidently, EDARAN Bhd yesterday bagged its second contract extension from the Customs Department to maintain the Customs Information Systems (SMK), along with upgrading work.
Of course, the SMK work by EDARAN is TOTALLY DIFFERENT with NSW work by DNEX, BUT this could hint DNEX would also bag contract extension from the same party, Customs Department for its NSW work. This will provide a guaranteed earnings visibility to DNEX after 2018 and reduce downside risk to its earnings.
Look at EDARAN's share price today after getting extension contract for its SMK work, LIMIT UP, so, I hope DNEX's share price could also do the same once they secure contract extension for its NSW work! It doesnt make sense to see LIMIT UP in EDARAN, a loss making company that would see turnaround. DNEX should be deserved more as the Company is profitable and expanding.
