Not sure how IB does their analysis, reduced profit by the quarter. But it is still a profit. Show us one company that every quarter perpetually increase in profit or revenue for unlimited quarters or financial years.

When the market tanks, never afraid to top up or average down this counter. Rest of counters need to think twice.

Did not managed to sell all due to greed + dividend factor when it was RM6 a piece.
Wont mind buying more if it reaches RM2 a piece and wait again for the next cycle in 10 years time.

@BLee: agreed is half the truth based on adjusted share price once it goes EX. Just finding some comfort based on the recent sharp drop in KLCI. Using leverage at the moment and at times, dividends received used to cover a portion of amount owed to investment bank. I just have to cover the monthly interest payments until amount owed is fully repaid by dividends + certain amount of cash top ups.

Nice article on the concept of dividends leading to cheaper holding costs. Had never look at it this way before.

Thanks Johnzhang. How would we know TAAN is selling at spot or at forward? Disclosure in annual report?

To add, there is a regulatory cap on the supply side (MY government imposed a limit of 6.5 million hectares in terms of size for palm oil) and on the demand side - dont think there is a limit...

Valuvestor, thank you. Based on TAAN's quarterly disclosure, its retained earnings is at RM1.1 b.
After some thinking and your explanation, i dont think retained earnings would be a good indicator for "potential" handsome dividend payouts. Dividend payments still need to come from cash, net of liabilities. Its cash net of liabilities doubled.
On its huge accumulated retained earnings, can only speculate here what TAAN would do with it, acquire more palm oil companies other than the already acquired Sarawak Plantation. This one maybe need to wait for another few more years when CPO price drop to its lowest or otherwise acquire inefficient planters that is currently cheap vs current CPO price.

Does accumulated retained earnings indicate a possibility of higher dividends payout? assuming other factors remains constant (cash, borrowings, profitability, etc). Still learning haha

Hi peeps, can share which source you track palm oil price? today i try to search, market insider says RM7,715. Then MPOB showing RM6,961. Confused.

Congrats sifu calvin!
Just curious who is buying them at the high? E.g. today i buy RM3. if i want to make RM3 profit, which rational/ irrational investor would want to buy them from me at RM6?

For stocks like TAAN, what goes up must come down, vice versa, at least prefer it that way. Sustainable fluctuations and hopefully inches up to RM4 and beyond and just stay there. Not like those "goreng" stocks.

KYY mentioned palm oil price will not sustain and hinted it will drop, asking readers to take appropriate action.
Humble opinion, if palm oil price drop, drop lar, it is cyclical. Does not matter, just stay invested.

"When Top gloves was trading at RM30 some IBs gave the TP of RM50 when it was trading around RM35 the IBs said it will go to RM80 only to see it fall like a deflated parachutte and now all IBs have downgraded the gloves counters hurting everyone !"
Titan, that statement is accurate and yet funny at the same time. LOL. Just saw TOP GLOVE's dividend yield, 20% dividend yield. seems tempting to buy plus its at its lowest.

ah yeah, TAAN is one of the rare few stocks at BURSA that is safe to average down without losing sleep.

Calvin sifu, regardless even if CPO hits RM5,000-RM6,000 or when listed companies posted high/ increased profits/ special dividends, the stock prices of these listed companies wont increase unless a swarm of big fish/ whale come and buy all the way limit up. Example, uncle KYY has been silent on palm oil stocks =)
Can only just enjoy dividends, thats about it.

Sifu,
Some unrealized gains, some unrealized loss. Overall unrealized gains.
The unrealized losses some up to -55%, heart pain. Of course got one unrealized gains of 70%, happy with this.

not sure why KYY is silent on palm oil. I recalled in the past, cant recall exactly when but i think it was 2 years ago, he was bullish on Jaya Tiasa or WTK and palm oil in general.

Just try not to think TAAN or other plantation stocks will fly like gloves last year + goreng stocks. Otherwise you will be disappointed. Just sit back and enjoy the dividends.

well justified Calvin. Got to ignore those bullish plays and stay invested for their dividends.

sifu calvin, now days ppl goreng tech stock. avoiding palm oil stocks like a plague.....Chin Teck, even with special dividend announced, ytd up alot but then today went south.
I guess those experienced investors would have silently bought palm oil stocks 2-3 years back, anticipating this bull run in CPO. 2-3 years back some palm oil stocks did went up when price was around RM2-3k per tonne. but now RM4k per tonne, went down.

EPF buys and sells everyday on many counters. They play a different ball game from us.
Not a concern if they are selling a few days or weeks, the main concern is when they mass sell en bloc (re: serba) that is when we should start to panic.
Flip side, even when EPF was buying, you wont see any increase in price at all, if yes, only a little.

Calvin sifu, have to wait they declare bonus dividend then only this counter will have wings. other than this counter wont budge regardless of increased profit.

Calvin sifu, this industry requires alot of foreign labour, for many years they are struggling to get labour to harvest palm oil..in addition to this, the recent US ban on TOP Glove on allegations of force labour. On top of these, EU ban on Palm Oil.
I think these are the downside factors why no one wants to goreng palm oil stocks, yet. Need to mention another two downside:
- "silent" bio diesel mandate by the Gov of the day.
- The hype on EV and solar projects, this two would affect demand for bio diesel.
Not trying to bash your post but just frustrated, comparing with how ppl goreng glove counters but not palm oil counters LOL
Big fan of your articles thou, last time made money from dutaland after reading your posts =)
