Market sentiment rules. It may all be well but if the market does not have the perk of excitement it does not push the price up.

That's the smart decision for the bonus issue.
To increase the stakes of the retail investors.
BRAVO!!!

TA Securities’ analyst Li Hsia Wong said in a report today the firm had an "overweight" call on the banking sector underpinned by a more positive outlook in domestic economic activities, some uplift in net interest margin on the back of the gradual unwinding of modification loss and more stable interest rates environment, concerted stimulus measures by governments globally to protect businesses and individuals from economic disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, and potential reopening of borders as countries look into a mass vaccine rollout.
“Despite uncertainties in terms of the credit outlook, especially post the loan moratorium, we believe that the continued repayment and debt rehabilitation support for targeted borrowers should help address earlier concerns over the broader impact from a potential cliff effect,” said Li.
Coming from a low base, Li forecast banking sector profit growth of 17.7% and 18% in 2021 and 2022 respectively.
“We expect the sector to register a 27.7% year-on-year decline in 2020 net profit. With that, we lower our market risk premium assumption to 5.5% from 6.5%,” said Li.
Li has "buy" calls on Malayan Banking Bhd (target price: RM10.80), Public Bank (TP: RM25.10), CIMB (TP: RM5.10), Hong Leong Bank (TP: RM23), RHB Bank Bhd (TP: RM7), AMMB Holdings Bhd (TP: RM4.50), Alliance Bank Malaysia Bhd (TP: RM3.70) and Affin Bank Bhd (TP: RM2.50).

If everything goes well, Hibi should be near RM1 by end of 2021.
2020-12-17 20:47 | Report Abuse
I think Hibi is not alone. All O&G counters are alike. The heat is not on yet due to 2 main factors. The Covid-19 cases are not going down. The boarders aren't open.
So, my prediction is another 3 to 6 months before O&G gets alive and kicking.

NEW YORK, Dec 16 — Oil prices rose yesterday as investors focused on the rollout of Covid-19 vaccines, looking past tightening lockdowns in Europe and forecasts for a slower-than-expected recovery in fuel demand.

EPF will have less cash to invest in the stock market after cashing out i-sinar. The influence of the retail investors grows proportionally.
But slow and steady is still better than fast and furious. 5, 10 or 20 years, slowly but surely.

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) - AirAsia Group Bhd, Eco World Development Group Bhd, Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd and KLCC Property Holdings Bhd and KLCC Real Estate Investment Trust-stapled securities have been added to the constituents of the FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia (F4GBM) Index.
In a statement today, Bursa Malaysia said the F4GBM Index measured the performance of public-listed companies demonstrating strong environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices and was launched in December 2014 with a total of 24 constituents.
It said besides the four additions, there were two deletions from the index constituents namely Bumi Armada Bhd and Sunway Construction Group Bhd, bringing the total number of constituents to 75 as at the latest review period of December 2020.
"All constituent changes take effect at the start of business on Monday, Dec 21, 2020,” it added.

After going through the political happenings in the past 10 months, any political issues will be much expected. Most of us are so used to it and become less emotionally involved.
If you have bought pbb at 16 and below, what's there to worry about? Just wait until your desired exit price. For long term investment, just ignore and enjoy the show(s).
You will never get to buy at 16 again.
My target price is RM10 (RM50) , 10 or 20 years from now.

Public Bank bonus issue
PUBLIC Bank on Tuesday (8/12) announced it would issue four new shares for every one existing share, increasing the total number of shares from 3.9 billion currently to 19.4 billion after the bonus issue.
Analysts said the exercise would increase the trading liquidity of Public Bank shares, and the lower share price post-bonus issue would be perceived by retail investors as being more affordable.
CGS CIMB Research, in a note on Wednesday (9/12) raised its target price for the bank from RM20.50 to RM25 a share, citing the bank’s defensive qualities amid the pandemic and improved trading liquidity as key drivers for the upgrade.
Public Bank had a one-for-two stock split in 2004 and its last bonus issue was in 2003.
