The more you think of it, some of these jokers could be the syndicate trying to get retail to sell back to them cheap. Everyone knows market was down yesterday and most counters were down, some even more than mui in terms of percentage. Someone said got a lot of better counters with better returns but cannot quote here or share. Either he has none or born selfish

Why worry so much on a daily basis when ur holding long term, already have a margin of profit and got no gearing on your investment ( as I don't believe in share margin, I buy less but sleep Better ).

Back to what I was saying on the real Pauline Chai. All she has to do is ask for half or even some of her awardment in MUI Shares.

Then all she has to do is ask her rich friends or friend in PE funds to support her and buy MUI as KKP can possibility lose majority stake.

Hopefully, KKP appeals on the judgement. Coz if he does, Pauline can now say previously he declared his networth based on MUI with market cap of 200-300m. Look at it what it is now.

For all those that are convinced MUI is a crap share, go back and continue buying your DNEX, Pworth, Anzo. Hope you sleep well with those 'story companies' with no 'real business' that most of us will have problem explaining what they do or why they are even worth a cent.

The argument u raise is the same as any shares your holding. Else please share better counters to hold to share with the rest of us here

As I said earlier please raise the bar can give specific reasons on why u think MUI is such bad buy instead of any reason which I poise to any of the counters you are holding

ran777rpt : When WCT hit 2.14, WCT-WE was stuck at 39 or 39.5 if i remember correctly. Then when you analyze the other warrants you realized those 'in the money' warrants even have negative premium where WE has a big premium

anticonman : This is the same case for a lot of undervalued illiquid stocks where alot of people got stuck with the past 2-3 years since the market came down. Its a waiting game to see how cheap you want to sell back to owner.

MUI has already rewarded us handsomely if you had followed Calvin recommendation. Thats better than any dividend ive gotten in terms of % of investment. If you had old stock and didnt not average, then perhaps you should have.

Mr Pauline Chai ( cuz everyone know its a he ) : If you want to be credible, use your main account. Why so shy ? Then your comments will carry more weight.

I seriously dont understand why so many sour grape punters. If you miss, find others. Why waste time actively commenting in the forum with no substantial arguments. We welcome constructive criticism and contrarian views but give us more than just ' con man, die, sure down, value trap, etc'. Im sure you can use your time more productivity to go and study more stocks.

On the argument on why KKP will reward shareholders of MUI. This is same argument for most owner based counters, so maybe you should also review all your stocks that are owner controlled. Tell me which owner controlled counter has investors as first priority. I will buy tomorrow

On unlocking value of assets. Asssuming KKP doesnt want to sell anything nor give any new substantial shareholder a board seat. I will just throw this argument. If today i had enough PE fund influence, i would just called the real Pauline Chai and tell her your divorce settlement is severely undervalued. Lets do a deal. Lets push MUI to RM1 and you give us a share of the proceeds with a duly signed agreement. Its a win-win deal.

What do you think would happen then ?

Dont forget KKP can use all his business associates like Quek and Dr Yu to help buy shares on his behalf.

WCT WE is not cheap actually, if u compare with the other warrants. Of coz other warrants have very short expiry left but look at the premium at exercise price of WE. Even when mother was 2.08, movement of WE couldn't move much. So the question is, how much does mother need to rise to break 39 for WE

I was considering buying some

Speak up, I only have this to share, especially if you have stocks with high costs. Either cut or buy more. If u think it's a hopeless counter, sell at loss and use the funds for other opportunities. If u choose to keep, your hoping for a miracle to happen and should average if u really believe there is a chance to recover.

Some people cant differentiate between value investing and speculative stocks. Perhaps he is the syndicate hoping retail investors sell to them.

Tan Sri definitely not selling, maybe he could be buying too if he has plans to sell some assets or give some dividends especially after the past 10 years making everyone to sell back to him at a ridiculously cheap price.

If this counter could gain enough attention, big PE funds might even try to buy up enough shares to get a.board seat then guess what would likely happen

Those who critized Calvin was not because his analysis was wrong, just that there is a difference in value of company and demand for shares. You can buy undervalued companies shares but it doesnt guarantee share prices will go up.

They are so many many more factors to consider. Kudos to Calvin for sharing his info on MUI group. It is a large group and not simple to grasp at just once glance

With all due respect, uncle Koon has an impressive CV building businesses and identifying value. If u wanna criticize, anyone can be put in a bad light.

Instead of personal attacks which is of no value to the rest of the forum, why not share more views of what each and everyone thinks of different counters.

As for jaks, this company so definitely worth more than its current price but that doesn't mean share price will rise in tandem right now. After all, aren't we investing in future value? Comparison of jaks vs Mudajaya. I have seen the IRR > 10% ( if I recall correctly ) for jaks power plant project and also how they will also get portion of epc profits and they have backing of experienced china power party. Do they have assets that are undervalued ? I believe so too. Biggest issue would be their evolve mall dragging it down.

Mudajaya to me is a blast from the past. They have plenty of slow trade receivAbles, no mention of future order book ( that I recall) and I was told they had contra some property assets from client who could not pay. They also recently refinance their bond via 'other means' if I got my facts right. As for their power plant project, I have no idea what their IRR for the project and whatever it is, it has taken a huge discount on the delay not to mention cost overruns

Its not their dont have money. You look at what prices the current key shareholders bought in the past 3-4 years. Its much higher than the current level. When they submit RI approval, it was 1.05 and assumption was 80 cents i think for rights ( 20% discount ).

Now at current level, they have to give an even bigger discount and the man of the street will be buying in even cheaper than the main shareholders bought in. So either they have to play up or delay like what they have doing and submit for further extension.

KWAP entry doesnt really tell you anything, not saying that they are not good at what they do but public funds / pe funds that are managed by 'professionals', can 'do deals' with companies. Now if it was someone like a reputed businessman / investor buying in, now that would be a different story completely.. then their buy in price would have value to in my honest opinion.

Anyway funds like KWAP can afford to screw up and buy stocks expensive, as they have the long term holding power and also sufficient financial strength to 'double up' if prices do drop.

In a nutshell, i think that the large drop on Friday was telling us is that some shareholders are probably pissed off that the company decided to reduce their future profits by giving a piece of the profit cake to KWAP on subsidiary level instead of getting them to buy mothershare directly ( where in this case KWAP upside is the same as any other shareholder ).

I dont have all the details but if company doesnt put shareholders first, you sure you want to put your money there

I dont know much about this counter but based on what i can see is

1) Management stigma. So current shareholders should be happy their got rid of the previous CEO Eric who did nothing for share prices the past 2-3 years ? Now this tells me 2 things. Most funds would be unlikely to participate / continue investing given that they have shown they don't really care about shareholders. Now your last line of defense should would be the man of the street ( some of us in these forums ) to invest, but these appears to have also given up hope on this stock. So you buy cheap now but who you plan to sell to ? Has new mgmt done anything spectacular since ?

2) STP2. If this is so profitable, why sell 20% was it to KWAP. How much funds is KWAP going to help with 20% anyway. This group is not heavily geared ( less than 1x gearing ) and should have capacity to borrow more instead of going to equity for funding. Btw new CEO is supposedly well connected in the finance and property market but doesnt seem to adding any value here in my honest opinion. If STP2 was a good deal, and in the best interest for the shareholders, shouldnt mgmt convince KWAP take a larger shareholding at holding level instead of taking some equity at subsidiary.

Someone made a reference to JAKS. That to me seems an entirety different case as its depreciation and impairment provisions ( not going to be there every quarter ) and these are all non-cash items. So no change to baseline recurring cashflows.

Exit of Mr Goh ( singaporean tycoon ). I dont know much about him but let me say this. Tycoons dont like to lose money and have the ability to identify opportunities, probably due to their army of advisors and analyst.

I thought of jumping in as well but the discount doesnt appear large enough for the risk that potentially i might have to hold this long term on a negative position. It has only fallen 10% ?

Stock

2017-03-31 17:59 | Report Abuse

There is some truth iphone7 comments but some are arguably, not accurate.

If you take away eastern steel, the group makes something like 50m+ from operations YTD 6 mths based on segmental reporting ?

If you're in the steel hardware market, you would know this is a real business that makes money, though i wont defend reputation of owner.

But know this, why keep things private when you can increase your networth via injection to a PLC with PE ratio of higher than 1 ? So to me it is in their best interest to increase valuation of this company and yes they are not doing it for us as we are small insignificant shareholders like us here, because they are the main shareholders last i checked.

As for their business management / acumen, they have a couple of businesses under their private side which is obviously profitable ( you can verify this with bankers you know ).

What would most likely happen ? Change of shareholder and renegotiation of debt to shareholders from ShouGang to Angang seems positive to me for 1 very simple reason. Angang will be holding majority and Eastern Steel performance will no longer be consolidated under this Group. Also, the USD loans from shareholder would be probability renegotiated.

My cost for WB is 10.5 cents and im stilll ok to hold despite watching it drop.

So why is this coming down ? To me this group will only get support from people who understand their business and from the smaller funds. large funds will unlikely buy in and you can forget about the foreign funds. People have been burnt and tired of waiting for a lot of stocks to 'undervalued' stocks to recover so there will be downward pressure. This applies to a lot of stocks in the market now.

Stock

2017-03-31 17:22 | Report Abuse

Could go either ways. If you have your ears on the ground there are too many brokers pushing Malton wb. I like this group but should be some consolidation after the big push yesterday. If you are really buying in the company, would you buy all the way up straight up or let it consolidate and flush out sellers at every level.

Now keep in mind there is no new news since warrant was 8.5 cents, though I'll say this group has fundamentals, but even with that you have to decide on the valuation

If you check the share prices where substantial shareholders have bought the last 10 years, current prices are low. My take the reason they are not proceeding with rights is coz share price too low and they want to sell too cheap. Main shareholders like Dato Sri thong, MSK, etc are people who don't like to lose money. Look at their track record.

If u hold hohup, be prepared to subscribe to rights which is quite substantial.
