Morning all. X'mas sales seems to have started at Bursa.

Connie, I think it's more of a causation than correlation.

Morning all. Lacklustre market again. Probably the reason everyone is flirting with the "dark side".

Morning all and happy trading. Market seems listless though.

A belated good morning to everyone. Just finished a meeting and noticed Hume inexorable march towards the "promised land".

Don't use ew on this stock for the time being. There are other things at play.

Just know that it won't drop below 4 and is likely to breach 4.50 should be sufficient.

Connie, check out the 450-lots of Hume done at 4.28-4.30 at 15:08:11. If that's not support, I don't know what is. And it's definitely not your regular Joe doing it.

Connie, you may be the numero uno mouse but you are forgetting the cats. The fat cats.

Wow! Novice, you are probably more knowledgeable than me with all the time you spend on your research. You should be extremely competent in your macro over-view. I only have a cursory interest in that area and am more focused on local development. No, I don't blog much. cskek81, everyone has their own investment strategy and there's no one-size fits all. But generally if you can identify a stock with good consistent dividend yield and in an industry with steady growth and if you chose to re-invest your dividend back into the stock, the multiplier effect is pretty significant over a period of a few years. I am in front of my computer most of the time so it's easier for me to monitor my shares.

Connie, can't afford that luxury cos' am still a participant in the rat race. That's why I envy your life-style of sandwiches, banana and chilled beer. Ha ha.

Hi, everyone. Slow day at the Bursa office. Time to take a siesta for those liberated souls (liberated from work).

Bearguy, no, HLI did not receive any contributions from the cement business in the past. The dividends for the past couple of years were from their earnings from the Yamaha, fibre board, tiles, newsprint business and about 10M from the concrete business which is now with Hume.

Novice, I don't really like to offer any stock picks as I believe that everyone should do some homework and make their own decision as at the end of the day it's their hard earned money they are parting with. However I will offer my opinion and my take on stocks that I am familiar with. I was invested in HLI since the beginning of the year. The major component of my portfolio are in stocks like DIGI (2009) and Maybank (2008). I also held LPI (2007), Sime (2007), Panasonic (2007) and Maxis (2008)which I have sold this year. Most of these stocks have pretty decent dividend yield which I normally plough back into the counter. Some of them have given me returns of more than 200%. If you have time on your side and the patience to go with it, such a strategy can be very rewarding. I do also dabble in speculative counters for some fast gains.
2014-11-06 10:55 | Report Abuse
Novice, what you heard is probably correct. We converted HLI at 4.31 to Hume at 3.51 on 24/10 and HLI price is now 4.77 (+10%) vs Hume 4.25 (+20%). HLI is a good stock with decent dividend yield and the expected dividend announcement in the later part of this month will probably give the price a boost. However for those with longer investment horizon, Hume will become the most exciting cement play once the capacity expansion comes on stream by 2H 2016. In the near term though, it will have limited upside as it is already trading at 20x PE akin to it's peers in the industry. Having said that I am still expecting it to break 4.50 soon.

Thanks but did not really gained cos averaged PJD WC down to be able to come out unscathed. Guess that still calls for a few rounds of beer.

Sorry for the late response. Penned the following more than an hour ago but was unable to post it as the connection was dodgy. Was using explorer but have now switched to Google chrome. Yes, was a bit tied up yesterday. Disposed of my PJD WC yesterday. Latest write up from UOB Kayhian indicates that Hume may have limited upside in the near term as it is already trading at 20X PE akin to it's peers. However they opined (for those with a longer investment horizon) that it will be the most exciting cement counter once the capacity expansion comes on stream in 2H 2016.

Hi, 82wpw. Yes, I will be holding it long term. In fact have been adding to my holding. Happyman is correct, the combined value is now more than 9.30. You can't go wrong with Quek's counter. The fact that they are going for capacity expansion after only 1 full year of operation indicates he has confidence in the industry and the company. Ignore the unnecessary noise, it sdds no value to the discussion.

100-lots taken from the sellers at 4.10 at 11:46:49. Indicative of some serious accumulation cum support?

Morning all and hi Connie. Was at a cosy birthday gathering last nite where we had a bottle of single malt Dalmore costing RM700+ (duty free) and a single malt Singleton bought from a liquor shop for RM305 and guess what? The Singleton beats the much more expensive Dalmore hands down. Goes to show that "expensive" doesn't necessarily equates to "good". Am monitoring Hume and believe that it will not fall below 4 again barring any unforeseen development. If you observe last Friday's transaction, you will notice that a few transactions of 50 and 100 lots were taken from the sellers at the 3.95/3.96 level. Average retailers will only nibble 5 or 10 lots, so these are big guns supporting the price.
2014-10-31 17:34 | Report Abuse
8wpw, should not be a concern. If you observe the transaction done at price 3.95 and above, 50 to 100 lots were taken from the sellers at one go. It's not the type of retail buying of a few lots here and there. Big guns are supporting it.

Kenneth, it's a different company altogether. It was formerly known as Narra but they effect a name change to Hume Industries from yesterday. It bears no similarity to the previous Hume.

Yes, connie, let's rock. Glad you are on board. 4 should be assured and I am looking at 4.50 optimistically. Happy hours today will be with a 18-yrs Glen Livet.

Yes, Connie. It seems to be moving up in tandem with HLI. Guess the selling pressure have largely dissipated and we will be seeing it's inexorable march uphill. Similary HLI after the massive sell off after the ex-date is finding it's footing and will be strengthening along with the market. If past record is anything to go by, HLI should be announcing an interim dividend (was 10 cents over the last few years)during the third week of next month which should give an impetus to it's price.

Koyak, not just possible but quite likely. With an eps of 0.54 it's just a matter of time and if past history is anything to go by, HLI is expected to announce an interim dividend (probably 10 cents) late next month which should give the price a boost.

Novice, am out of Inari after making some gains. Wish you luck. Will be converting more of my HLI to Narra if price drops further. Am extremely confident that it will rebound to above 4.

Connie, won't mind if it dropped to your "buy" level. Will just join you to buy a bit more. Am confident it will rebound to above 4 once the selling pressure ebbs.
