Weird. The AGM terminated even before the results were finalised. Now cannot log back in. Anyone have the same issue?
2021-05-10 11:48 | Report Abuse
No. It was the 40 sen special dividend declared as part of their FY2020 final dividend. I wish the interim is that high lol

True. One shareholder even asked about it. Can consider voucher? The Cosec say, regret to say cannot give, but we give you all 40 sen special dividend instead

Anybody know how did Bank Pembangunan ended up with so many shares in Maybulk. They don't look like a bank that would buy quoted shares like investment bank so what gives?

At this rate, any plantation stock is probably in danger of being banned by the US kek

Why the steel counters suddenly got so much interest? And why the TP is RM 2.50? Seems a bit excessive.

@Maxpowar Thanks for the info. I had a hunch it was them. But needed to confirm it.

Also, does anyone happen to know who is the big customer of Magni? The one that gives them 90% of its revenue. It seems like a big global company of some sort, but I have no idea who.
2020-11-15 23:22 | Report Abuse
One interesting thing I find about this company is how the executive directors are rewarded. Unlike the companies I've seen, the directors of Magni-Tech are paid mostly via bonuses or incentives. About 70% of the executive director's remuneration are from bonuses and incentives, with the rest being the standard fixed salary and BIK. Most companies I've seen only have tiny bonuses, maybe around 10% only.
This seems to have driven the executive directors to deliver, and they indeed have done so over the years. A sign of a very good company imo

@AllanTingAS The figures I put in are the emoluments (with some EPF put in but that's not very significant). The shares owned by the directors have not been taken into account.
Another thing, unlike most other companies I've seen, KSL doesn't breakdown the director's emoluments into executive and non executive. They just amalgamated all the emoluments into a single category, Director's remuneration with just 3 categories, salary, SOCSO and EPF. They don't even break down the BIK.

I initially thought this was a bargain counter...until I saw their director remuneration policies. For some reason, after 2009 when Haji Ishak was replaced as chairman by Ku Hwa Seng, the director's salary started increasing like crazy. The other directors had no change.
I present the 10 year history of their remuneration of their executive directors based on their Annual reports (in RM '000)
2008: 3,920 (Dividend: 5 sen)
2009: 3,913 (Dividend: 5 sen)
2010: 3,890 (This is the year Ku Hwa Seng takes over as Chairman. Dividend: 5 sen)
2011: 5,559 (No dividend)
2012: 22,551 (No dividend)
2013: 34,437 (No dividend)
2014: 34,890 (Dividend: 10 sen)
2015: 37,569 (Dividend: 2 sen)
2016: 38,41 (No dividend)
2017: 38,43 (No dividend)
2018: 38,45 (No dividend)
2019: 38,67 (No dividend)
Why are their salaries growing at CAGR of 25% a year? When their revenue has only grown by CAGR 14% p.a?
Plus, I noticed they had been doing share buybacks over the past 10 years. They didn't do any in from 2019 onwards. I feel like the management of this company is more interested in helping themselves then the shareholders.

Oh nice. I was wondering when they were finally going to get rid of this useless vacant building. Hopefully they use this money to pay down on their borrowings or give to us unit holders

Company is in net cash position. Net current asset per share around RM 1.08 - RM 1.14. Historically profitable, but net margins quite thin (NPM around 2% - 4%). Still, quite a worthy buy. The only major issue with this stock is the recurring loss-making associate, Hanwa Steel. Don't know when the turn around is gonna work.

This counter looks good. Loss making for one or two year sure, but historically very high ROE >12%. It also has no debt and selling incredibly cheap currently compared to its net current assets of around RM 1.08 per share. Seems to stand out from the other lumber or plywood manufacturers imho.

Why is the annual report for this company report using RMB currency instead of MYR? This is allowed meh?

Nice analysis. Am looking at this stock too.
I have another candidate. Focus Lumber Berhad. It also has been undervalued by the market and it also produces plywood and venner in Sabah like Eksons. My back of the envelope calculation says Focus Lumber Net Cash per share should be around RM 1.08 compare with its current price of RM 0.77 now.
Would be interesting to know what you think about this particular stock as well.
