KUALA LUMPUR: The oil and gas sector is to emerge as the "rising star" and significantly drive the Malaysian economy forward this year, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said today.

He said the expectation was based on the number of oil and gas projects that would be awarded when the massive RM61 billion Refinery and Petrochemicals Integrated Development (RAPID) project in Pengerang, Johor, gets off the ground by year-end.

"This will have a major impact on the economy. I'm also hoping for some recovery in other commodity prices as well this year.

"I think the commodity (crude palm oil) price, according to a recent forecast made at the just-ended Palm Oil and Lauric Conference, is also expected to spiral.

"CPO prices will hover between RM2,500 and RM3,000 per tonne in the near-term," he said, adding that if the price of the golden crop were to reach RM3,000 per tonne, the commodity's performance and that the industry would be far better," he said. -- Bernama

Why volume spike today ? Something happening ?

Because SES has already been goreng before, the upside is not as huge as the parent which is largely untouched for the past few months.

Based on the current SOP valuation, the parent looks deeply undervalued.

Why are you guys worried about the diluted EPS?

EPS is a function of Earnings divided by no. of Shares. Yes, no doubt the share base will be increased as a result of the placement, but you must bear in mind that the 100++mil proceeds raised to carry out the massive order book may also potentially contribute to much larger earnings in the near future. If both the numerator and denominator increases at the same time, wouldn't it net off each other. Or better still if the numerator increases at larger scale than the denominator, wouldn't it contribute to a higher EPS?

And c'mon, Datuk Tay is not so stupid to dilute his stake without thinking about the overall benefits. If these investors are strategic investors that may generate more business for IRIS in the near future, ain't it worth thinking ?

And besides, 8/10 private placements has historically resulted in a price uptrend.

tchaipeng: IRIS just signed a MOU with Australian Federal University to provide Agro based certifications via Stamford college today. The partnership will see expansion of iris into education in Asian and African countries in very near future.

Trust me, Russia won't risk attacking Ukraine. If Russia attacks, they will risk the whole world putting economic sanctions on them. Their currency will drop to the lowest point, Inflation kicks in, shortage of raw materials etc. Now, whose on the losing end ?
