JAKARTA (Sept 26): Malaysian palm oil futures fell nearly 7% on Monday (Sept 26), tracking weakness in rival edible oils amid recession fears, and after a leading analyst warned prices would plunge by more than 30% by the end of this year due to ample supply and weaker demand.
The benchmark palm oil contract for December delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange dropped 6.85% to trade at RM3,480 a tonne in early session, down for a third straight session.

KUALA LUMPUR (July 16): Malaysia will hold bilateral talks with Thailand to seek assurances there will be no disruption to the supply of AstraZeneca vaccines manufactured in its Southeast Asian neighbour, a Malaysian minister said on Friday.
Malaysia will also consider ramping up the supply of vaccines developed by China's Sinovac if there are shortages of the AstraZeneca vaccine, Science Minister Khairy Jamaluddin told a news conference.

TECHNOLOGY stocks may be taking a breather but that does not seem to be stopping a decent flow of new listings from this sector.
Yesterday, a company that makes Internet of Things (IoT)-based products got listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange with a market value of just under S$1bil (RM3.7bil).
The Singapore firm, with one of its operations in Johor, had attracted some Malaysian funds as cornerstone investors. These included the likes of the Employees Provident Fund, Affin Hwang Asset Management and Hong Long Assurance.

Bursa said that for companies with a market capitalisation of at least RM1 billion but less than RM3 billion, the acceptable minimum lower public shareholding spread is 20%.
For companies with a market capitalisation of RM3 billion and above, the acceptable minimum lower public shareholding spread is 15%, according to Bursa.
Bursa said that under its public spread amendments, which will take effect from Monday (March 1, 2021), the quantitative and qualitative criteria include "the appropriateness and rationale of the application, including if there is sufficiency of liquidity, orderliness of trading of the securities, good corporate governance conduct and compliance records of the listed issuer/applicant and its directors, as well as reasonable justification necessitating the lower public spread".

1. 33% - threshold for triggering the mandatory offer;
2. Over 50% - a mandatory offer ceases to be conditional;
3. 75% - holder can ensure special resolutions are passed;
4. Over 75% - the minimum public floating required for companies listed on the stock exchange may not be satisfied;
5. 90% - generally, confers the ability to compulsorily acquire the remaining shares in the target company;
6. 90% - trading of the shares may be suspended by the stock exchange. The shares may also be de-listed by the stock exchange.

If more than 75% but less than 90% of the FGV shares are held by the offeror and the person acting in concert with him pursuant to offer, the offeror will not be taking steps to address any shortfall in the Public Spread Requirement and request FGV to make the necessary application to withdraw its listing status from the official list via a general meeting to be convened to obtain approval from the majority shareholders of FGV in accordance with Paragraph 16.06 of the Listing Requirement.
