Total term loan and short term borrowings as at Sep 2018 was RM9.192M
Total borrowings has shot up to RM78.393M as at June 2023, an increase of RM69.201M from Sep 2018
If those borrowings were used to purchase energy producing assets, the interests ought to be charged to the energy segment
The entities that are currently producing energy now are Kiev CRG and Dynagen Power
The revenue and PAT for both entities were RM7M and RM1M for the whole year in 2022.
Kiev CRG SB FYE 31-12-2022
Revenue: RM1.161M
PAT: -0.124M
Dynagen Power SB FYE 31-12-2022
Revenue: RM5.843M
PBT: RM1.153M
Is the current energy-producing segment result of RM7.653M revenue and RM3.697M result for 3 months believable?

After that, 360M shares will be under moratorium for another 6 months.
When SFP Tech's share price hits RM2.00, the majority shareholder's block of shares will be worth RM1.1B.
Hopefully, he will just sell 25M shares or so and let the balance grow in value.
At RM3.8, he will be sitting on RM2B+

There is a big issue with Pentamaster. It hardly pay any taxes. As such, the company can have fake customers, fake revenue and fake profits.
And C B Chuah's story is getting inconsistent.
Q1 2022 financial results stated that EV market have fuelled the demand for the Group’s automotive test solutions. However, the company's website at https://pentamaster.com.my does not have any information on EV automotive test solutions.
And out-of-the-blue, the company releases a PR statement that it has 300 semiconductor test equipment and 20 robotic production lines orders.
Suddenly, no more customers for EV automotive test solutions. Who are the customers for the EV automotive and semiconductor test equipment?
"In 1Q2022, revenue from the ATE segment increased by RM43.5 million to RM130.5 million (4Q2021: RM87.0 million), representing an increase of 50.1%.
The increase was largely driven by the demand from the automotive segment given the global momentum in structurally shifting towards EV. Such resilience and growth in the EV market have fuelled the demand for the Group’s automotive test solutions entailing a full range of assembly and test technologies from front-end to back-end solutions. With vehicle manufacturers’ increasingly ambitious electrification plans coupled with supportive regulatory frameworks, the automotive industry will remain robust and contribute positively to the Group’s revenue in the short to medium term."
https://www.thestar.com.my/business/business-news/2022/07/11/pentamaster-order-book-full-till-first-quarter-of-2023
Group executive chairman C B Chuah told StarBiz that the group had secured about RM500mil worth of products to be delivered in the second half till the first quarter of 2023.
“The orders comprise about 300 semiconductor test equipment and 20 robotic production lines.
“The test equipment is priced between RM1mil and RM3mil and the robotic lines between RM5mil and RM10mil.
“The customers are from Europe, the United States and Japan,” he added.

Greatech or GreatScam?
As at 10th Dec 2021, Greatech's market cap was at a dizzying level of RM8,464M and PE ratio that is close to 100.
Greatech's website at greatech-group.com listed it's product and services as - Solar, Electronic Devices, Semiconductor, Life Science, Energy Storage and Glass Substrate.
It's FY2020 annual reported that Customer A, Customer B and Customer C accounted for 95% of the year's revenue. (Between 2019 and 2020, contribution by Customer B dropped by almost RM104M but a new Customer C contributed RM158M in 2020, a period of global pandemic).
Receivables increased sharply to RM125.559M for the quarter ended 30 September 2021.
Taxes paid for the first 9 months of 2021 is only 0.8% of PBT.
It appears that Greatech derived it's revenue primarily from EV customers.
However, the customers have not been specifically named, with the exception of Atlis Motor Vehicles. Altis Motor Vehicles is just a start-up and the amount of money that it has managed to raised through crowdfunding was only about USD5M.
--->>> Without paying taxes, a company can report high profits just by shipping empty boxes.
--->>> While revenue has increased by 174% for the first nine months of 2021, trade receivables and contract liabilities increased by 237% to reach RM237.344M
--->>> Greatech's customers are dubious
--->>> Greatech's only customer that was named is Altis Motor Vehicles
--->>> By doing fund raising through Instagram and crowdfunding, Altis Motor Vehicles also appears to be a dubious company
--->>> Aturmaju Resourses also has questionable customers and financials and currently has a PE ratio of 2
--->>> At a PE of 2, Greatech's share price is worth only RM0.14/share (2019 PAT RM87.847 x 2 / 1252)

Almost all industries in Malaysia are currently dependent on foreign workers. While the issues such as migration costs, living conditions and working hours are common in all industries, Andy Hall will target only industries such as glove, palm oil, EMS and others that are dependent on exports. And any companies that do not 'engage' (aka pay off) Andy Hall be attacked with negative publicity, manufactured evidence and petitions to the CBP.

It is inaccurate to state that ATA has 'already loss 80% revenue', because the contract will run until June 2022. ATA will lose 80% of revenue by June 2022 if they do not do anything with their factory capacity. Under such circumstances, companies will do invariably do something. For instance, VS has lost RM1B worth of revenue when Victory Innovations cancelled their contract.
The market is pricing in end-of-the-world situation for ATA due to negative publicity created by Andy Hall.
If potential revenue drop is the only proxy for share price, Air Asia will be worth only 0.16 because AA's actual revenue dropped by 90% compared to 2019.
And even if ATA's revenue were to drop to about RM850M per year, it is still double that of Greatech's annual revenue of RM400M+. If revenue is the only proxy, ATA's market cap ought to be double that of Greatech's market cap. However, ATA's market cap of RM789M is one-tenth that of Greatech's market cap of RM8,327M.

FDA NEWS RELEASE
Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update: FDA Authorizes First Oral Antiviral for Treatment of COVID-19
For Immediate Release: December 22, 2021
Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued an emergency use authorization (EUA) for Pfizer’s Paxlovid (nirmatrelvir tablets and ritonavir tablets, co-packaged for oral use) for the treatment of mild-to-moderate coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in adults and pediatric patients (12 years of age and older weighing at least 40 kilograms or about 88 pounds) with positive results of direct SARS-CoV-2 testing, and who are at high risk for progression to severe COVID-19, including hospitalization or death. Paxlovid is available by prescription only and should be initiated as soon as possible after diagnosis of COVID-19 and within five days of symptom onset.
“Today’s authorization introduces the first treatment for COVID-19 that is in the form of a pill that is taken orally — a major step forward in the fight against this global pandemic,” said Patrizia Cavazzoni, M.D., director of the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. “This authorization provides a new tool to combat COVID-19 at a crucial time in the pandemic as new variants emerge and promises to make antiviral treatment more accessible to patients who are at high risk for progression to severe COVID-19.”
...
Paxlovid significantly reduced the proportion of people with COVID-19 related hospitalization or death from any cause by 88% compared to placebo among patients treated within five days of symptom onset and who did not receive COVID-19 therapeutic monoclonal antibody treatment. In this analysis, 1,039 patients had received Paxlovid, and 1,046 patients had received placebo and among these patients, 0.8% who received Paxlovid were hospitalized or died during 28 days of follow-up compared to 6% of the patients who received placebo. The safety and effectiveness of Paxlovid for the treatment of COVID-19 continue to be evaluated.

Sham activist, Andy Hall, will be sued for billions.
Andy Hall has gone to the extent of pinning a manufactured video in his Twitter front page. In the video, Andy Hall has described the video as SHOCKING and that foreign workers were seemingly running from a factory.
(ATA IMS’s operations are housed in 28 factories and warehouses in Johor. Its total production floor space exceeds 1.48 million square feet.)
However, if you were to look at the video carefully, you will notice that:
- the video was not taken in a factory, but in a store or warehouse area
- a few workers were climbing down from a second storey platform that is full of finished products
- no workers were seen running from the warehouse ( described as factory by Andy)
- if indeed the workers are running away, won't they be at the gate or guard house. And if so, wouldn't the video be taken there as well?
- there is nothing to suggest forced labor. No chains or shackles like those used by the British during colonial times
- workers were strolling from the left to the right, and right to left
- lack of a context on who, why, where and when the video was taken
--->>> Andy Hall appeared to be using 'manufactured' evidence that is twisted out of context to extort consultancy fees
--->>>And it is trite that extortion is both a tort and a crime and whichever party that is complicit will also be liable
--->>> Whichever party that is getting the ATA's Dyson volume will also be a party to the 'secret profits' and can be liable together with the conspirators.

I was referring to the tin industry's price dropping by 50% in 1985. And today, China is the biggest producer of tin in the world.
Is there another industry whereby ASP is dropping sharply and China's market share has increased from 16% to 20+% and soon will be the biggest producer?

The main reason was due to the total collapse of the world tin industry in October 1985 when the price of tin fell by more than 50%.

- lack of a context on who, why, where and when the video was taken

(SHOCKING VIDEO allegedly of ATA workers revealed) A deeply disturbing video has been shared with me. In the video, foreign workers seemingly with identifiable blue ATA t-shirts heard shouting ‘Dyson’ ‘Dyson people’ whilst seemingly running from a factory. Andy Hall 26th Nov 2021

Seems a bit risky, hypothetical!

i3lurker,
Probably Sri Trang is running at full capacity; while Top Glove and Blue Sail are producing based on forecast.
Their strategies will be different because:
- cost structures are different (Thailand, where Sri Trang, is the biggest producer of latex. Korea, Japan and US are the biggest producers of acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber )
- tax structures are different (Blue Sail taxed at 9%, Sri Trang taxed at 8%, Top Glove taxed at 22%)
- Malaysia used to enjoy comparative advantage in the form of lower costs of labor. However, now that activists are insisting that the workers need to sleep on 1200 thread count Sheridan sheets, rooms that are decorated by Martha Stewart, and meals prepared by Michelin-starred chefs; the cost advantage has been eroded.
Like the Tulip mania, issues like capacity and cost do not matter when the bubble burst.

The Business School Question
This case study is purely administrative and does not reflect which company is in any way better or worse off.
Option A
This strategy runs factory at 100% and put excess production into warehouse
Option B
Run factory based on sales forecast.
1) Please link the abovementioned 3 financials with Options A and B, which is which?
2) Which Option has less or more risks? Please illustrate.
3) What are the long term consequences of Options A and B?
4) Did these companies select their Options A and B strategies appropriately based on their financial abilities?
5) Could and should these companies had restructured their financials in order to change their decision making in order to select a more favorable option?

THE PAST
At an output of 600k plus metric tonnes per year, Malaysia ranks 6 in terms of major producer of latex. The biggest producer of latex is Thailand with close to 5M metric tonnes per year.
Malaysian glove factories use only 8% of locally sourced rubber. 92% is imported from Thailand.
Rubber price has increased from USD1.33/kg in April 2020 to USD2.37/kg in March 2021 before moderating to USD1.93/kg in Nov 2021

--->>> Greatech's customers are dubious
--->>> Greatech's only customer that was named is Altis Motor Vehicles
--->>> By doing fund raising through Instagram and crowdfunding, Altis Motor Vehicles also appears to be a dubious company
--->>> Aturmaju Resourses also has questionable customers and financials and currently has a PE ratio of 2
--->>> At a PE of 2, Greatech's share price is worth only RM0.14/share (2019 PAT RM87.847 x 2 / 1252)

You mean likely prices for Top Glove and Supermax?
Possible, but will be at the best case scenario, because ASPs are dropping and all Malaysian glove manufacturers will report losses going forward.
Top Glove target pricing
Likely case: RM50M x 8 / 8207M = 0.05
Medium case: RM150M x 8 / 8207M = 0.14
Best case: RM300M x 8 / 8207M = 0.29
Supermax target pricing
Likely case: RM20M x 8 / 2721M = 0.06
Medium case: RM50M x 8 / 2721M = 0.15
Best case: RM100M x 8 / 2721M = 0.29

However, I think TG will not go bust. It's share price will just eventually drop to 0.50 .

Is there any proof that workers' living conditions are better in VS and SKP?
Don't think so.
The only difference is that VS and SKP 'reached out' to Andy Hall, whatever 'reach out' means; and whether it involved commercial arrangements is a question mark.
Whichever company that does not 'reach out' will be attacked by Andy Hall and A. Ananthalakshmi of Reuters.
Just have a look at A. Ananthalakshmi's articles in Reuters. Her articles are mostly on allegations of human rights issues:

successor26,
Thanks for the article.
The Human Resources Minister, MOHR, JTK Johor and HRDC have already stated that ATA’s employees’ accommodations are at a satisfactory level.
If there was a grey area, it will be with regard to excessive overtime hours.
But the decision to perform overtime lies with the workers, solely on voluntary basis.
Furthermore, 60A(1A) of the Employment Act allows for hours to be exceeded under special circumstances. The inability to bring in foreign workers during the MCO will be considered as special circumstances.
60A. Hours of work
(1A) The Director General may, on the written application of an employer, grant permission to the employer to enter into a contract of service with any one or more of his employees, or with any class, category or description of his employees, requiring the employee or employees, or the class, category or description of employees, as the case may be, to work in excess of the limit of hours prescribed under subsections (1) (a), (b), (c) and (d) but subject to such conditions, if any, as the Director General may deem proper to impose, if he is satisfied that there are special circumstances pertaining to the business or undertaking of the employer which renders it necessary or expedient to grant such permission:

ATA IMS Clarifies Reuters Report,
Company Firmly Committed to Wellbeing of Employees and Ethical Practices
JOHOR BARU, Tuesday, 7 December 2021: ATA IMS Berhad (“ATA”) views with great concern a recent report by Reuters titled ‘Dyson splits with Malaysia supplier, stoking concern over migrant worker treatment’, which was published on its website on Sunday, 5 December 2021.
ATA wishes to provide clarifications to the report, which it hopes will help readers to have a better perspective on ATA’s continuous and concerted efforts in addressing and improving its labour and social compliance standard and practices, and ensuring a positive business continuity.
1. Workers’ overtime:
• ATA’s company policy strictly adheres to Malaysian labour law, which permits up to 104 hours on normal working days in a month. If workers perform overtime, it is solely on voluntary basis.
• The Company pays workers double pay for working on Sundays and triple pay for working on public holidays.
• In certain months, which have four (4) Sundays and public holidays, a few managers had allowed their workers to work beyond the number of hours allowed.
• ATA views this seriously and has taken remedial measures effective immediately to ensure that this does not reoccur.
• The Company has started implementing a zero overtime on Sunday policy; that unfortunately resulted in the resignation of close to 300 local and foreign workers in the first week of December 2021.
2. Work permits:
• As of to date, all workers on the premises of ATA have valid work permits.
• Challenges with regards to work permits faced by the Company and others within the industry/sector occurred during the Movement Control Order (MCO), when the relevant government offices were running at limited capacity.
3. Coaching of factory employees:
• The Company employs 222 supervisors within the entire business unit, who diligently perform their duties to ensure the smooth running of their divisions and the wellbeing of the employees under their supervision.
• In reference to Reuters’ reporting, only one supervisor was engaged in a highly uncommon incident of coaching employees on what to say to auditors.
• The Company wishes to stress that this is not a company policy and views seriously such non-compliance.
• Towards this, remedial action has been taken against the aforesaid employee.
4. Whistleblowing policy and channels:
• There are external whistleblowing channels operated by independent third parties, supported by the Malaysian Government and the Company’s Human Resources department.
• These channels are in multiple languages; are well promoted and publicised on the Company’s premises; and any reports through these channels go directly to the Company’s customers’ legal teams and the Malaysian authorities.

calvintaneng,
If Ta Ann is such an honest company that is enjoying high CPO prices and EBITDA, why is the company hiring 'forced labour' and not paying the 12-13% statutory EPF employer contribution?

"Bad move, Dyson. When you identify a problem in your supply chain, disengaging w/ the supplier is the *opposite* of what you are supposed to do. Due diligence means engaging to improve the conditions, not cut & run which can cause thousands of job losses" - Anna Katrin Cavazzini (a German politician of the Alliance 90/The Greens who has been serving as a Member of the European Parliament since 2019)

Andy Hall has attacked Thai pineapple company Natural Fruit; petitioned to US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to investigate Hartalega and Supermax; and now made sweeping allegations towards Malaysian EMS companies.
The most important question is whether his initiatives have created more good than harm and do they address the fundamental problem.
There have been numerous documentaries on modern slaves in Britain. Shouldn't Andy Hall focus on his home country where tens of thousands of have been smuggled into the country, and forced to work as slaves against their will.

oskchoon,
I think so too.
As it is, ATA has the lowest margin (EBITDA/Revenue) compared to VS and SKP.
On the other hand, Dyson's margin continue to increase.
And with the additional costs to accommodate all workers' demands, it will not be profitable to be a supplier to Dyson.
+++ Dyson FY2020
Revenue: £5.7 billion (RM31.86 billion) (increased 6%)
EBITDA: £1.3 billion (RM7.267 billion) (increased 18%)
EBITDA/Revenue: 22.81%
+++ ATA IMS FY 2021
Revenue : RM4,221.815M
EBITDA : RM252.398M
EBITDA/Revenue: 5.98%
Salaries/Revenue: 8.71%
EPF/Salaries: 3.54%
+++ VS FY 2021
Revenue : RM4,002.281M
EBITDA : RM438.587M
EBITDA/Revenue: 10.96%
Salaries/Revenue: 11.6%
EPF/Salaries: 4.39%
+++ SKP FY2021
Revenue : 2,251.182M
EBITDA : RM206,898M
EBITDA/Revenue: 9.19%
Salaries/Revenue: 8.32%
EPF/Salaries: 5.24%
oskchoon VS or SKP are not interested to take over Ataims contract due to very low margin and they don't like dictatorship style of Dyson, so either Dyson have to pack up from Malaysia and go to Nepal or Bangladesh to get the supply as these two country have a better human rights establishment.. Hahaha.

"My areas of concern include the legality of the use of outsourced migrant workers through third party agents, the risks inherent in the government’s recalibration scheme as well as working hours, living wage and social dialogue issues, amongst others." - Andy Hall
Almost all EMS corporations in Malaysia have been audited by the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), a body widely engaged by electronics firms to conduct factory audits.
If the those corporations have passed the audits by RBA, who is Andy Hall to say otherwise and what gave him the authority to launch unilateral attacks on those companies?
The areas of concern regarding 'outsourced migrant workers through third party agents' and government’s recalibration scheme are structural and public policy issues that impact almost all industries in Malaysia, ranging from domestic helpers, manufacturing, security guards, construction, retail, restaurant, etc.
On the issue of long working hours, what is the percentage of foreign workers who is against overtime jobs? Has anyone been forced to work against their will? Are all the workers' passport being held by agents?
As to the living conditions, the following pictures will show the external environment of an ATA IMS hostel vs a PPR flat in Malaysia. Who has a better living environment?
ATA IMS' hostel for foreign workers

A PPR flat for Malaysians

Ultimately, it's puzzling on how can a 'flagged' corporation solve all the structural and public policy issues just by reaching out to an activist?
If by kow-towing in to a self-named and self-styled activist can be a solution to structural problems that cannot be solved, then more activist hedge funds, 'hushmail', greenmail and blackmail will appear. And they will be better funded and more aggressive.
