An idiotic function of Bursa whereby the regulator's objective is to kill all retailers because call warrants were not good enough

On the other hand, it is seen that EPF is selling every counter. There are less than a handful that EPF is actually buying these 2 months.
2018-11-23 19:02 | Report Abuse
You can see EPF selling very aggressively, Templeton buying a bit for EPF and then stayed away, and now Affin-Hwang buying for EPF.
Astro is traditionally low volume. With EPF so eager to pare down its stake near term pressure remains

It's always difficult to differentiate whether they are syndicates or running or more likely both. In this instance counting back from the time they started throwing it down from 50c+, they knew and they were running. Let's see if they keep running.

The question now isn't who are the sellers but who are the buyers lol

Which part shpok? On impairment you can see why they are doing it now together with their intention to monetise assets. They are taking the charge now since they already know it won't be sold at their carrying cost. And as they allow share price to adjust to the latest impairment charges right now, when they do sell the OSVs it is share price positive.

Today's announcement explains the rapid sell down that has been taking place. This round a lot of selling was done before results on insider news. Last round less so and it crashed only upon announcement.
2018-11-23 15:37 | Report Abuse
RJ87, there's a need to do it.
It is clear what they are trying to do. They are trying to sell the OSV fleet to pare down debt. OSV carried at previous value, they have charged a 522M to 70% of its fleet to bring it to market value.
If they are able to start selling and collecting cash back from the OSV fleet then from this point onwards it will be positive to share price.

H12345 yeah agree those are the problems they face otherwise we won't be getting it at this price. If the only issue is no growth it should be trading at at least double the current price. There would be more to it we would know very soon. The sharp decline suggests negative surprise in upcoming result. Holding at this level suggests heightened default and implosion risk. If times were different, it could be scarier suggesting high individual counter risk. I am only betting this round it is more the market than Armada itself, not unlike many other counters in this climate. That the speculation of bad news is a result of the share price than the other way round (only in this climate). Ultimately I do believe there'll be bad stuff coming up but I can't resist this price level already lol

Just for interest, MMC Corp. It controls the ports, an airport and 2 listed entities. It doesn’t need the infra contracts to be worth something closer to its intrinsic value. Top 30 makes up 94% of shareholders so limited free float. Yet it is trading at this price, not much better than Armada. Point is in this downturn it doesn’t take something like debt problems to bring a counter down to its knees. It’s just the market
2018-11-15 16:34 | Report Abuse
I don’t think we have to overthink Armada’s debt. It is not alone in this downturn. It is not really counter specific. Almost everything is down. And within the Bursa universe we try to find the worse bashed down stock that is big enough to be interesting for funds when they return and in a business that is worthy of big money and with strong controlling shareholder profile. So many names down in this downturn, not many as attractive as Armada right now in my view

Armada's crash is a low volume crash. From the day it last traded at 50c (11/10/18) to date, there were 24 trading days and only 277.87M shares changed hands for a turnover of RM113.63M. VWAP 40.89c. In Sapnrg or Hisbiscus, such turnover can be achieved in one day.
Also note EPF is selling across the board but it has been buying Armada albeit in small quantities.
Top 30 shareholders hold 80% of Armada as at 30/03/18. There can only be just so many sellers as is evident by the low volume at this price.
I like SuperPanda's balanced approach but in this instance I say all-in at this level. If this isn't a crash what is, if not now when
Another point, nowadays the market look AK no up. Same case seen in Astro. At this level I would ride with AK, go AK!

While it may be challenging for new players to survive in the long term given the capex-intensive nature of the industry, heavy investment required for content cost and the exclusivity of broadcasting rights, a foreign convergence player which has experience in telecommunication and media industries could still post an unprecedented threat to the local pay-TV incumbent.
Observers opine a merger with Maxis would be able to address this issue and enable Astro to compete effectively as a convergence player, offering disparate mobile, fixed broadband and pay TV services in a single package.
The potential impact of a merger deal is favourable to Astro as the shares will mostly likely be priced at a premium in the deal and the combined entity will benefit from earnings accretion being a convergence player.
To recap, despite recording flat revenue, Astro’s normalised net profit slumped by 80.8% YoY to RM46.6m in 2QFY19, mainly hit by i) the jump in content cost for 2018 FIFA World Cup broadcasting rights and worsen by the weaker ringgit, ii) the weaker-than-expected adex due to the reduced need to advertise during the tax holiday period (June-Aug 2018) and iii) the higher finance cost.
Post 2018 FIFA World Cup and tax holiday (only one month falls on 3QFY19) however, Streets expect both the exceptionally high content cost and weak adex to normalise and hence the group’s results to recover in the subsequent quarter.
2018-10-24 03:45 | Report Abuse
Since the announcement of a weak 2QFY19 result, Astro’s share price slumped 18.1% (Till 22 Oct 2018). For the coming quarter, Streets expect an earnings recovery due to normalisation of content cost and adex post-World Cup and tax holiday.
At current level (22 Oct 2018), Streets opine the market has already priced-in the negative factors concerning the group’s prospects while dividend yield remains attractive at c.7% pa. In addition, its valuation (22 Oct 2018) appears to be undemanding (currently trades at only 10.8x PE to FY20F EPS of 12.5 sen, more than 2SD below its 5-year historical average).
In addition, the single largest shareholder (T. Ananda Krishnan) has been accumulating Astro’s shares in the market of late (Total shares bought since June 2018: 14.2m).
Another potential catalyst would be the possible merger and/or privatisation by its major shareholder.
Convergence is the key to staying relevant in the long run. Astro is currently (22 Oct 2018) facing the risk of regulatory pressure with the new government planning to liberalise and promote competition in the pay-TV segment (as mentioned in the PH manifesto and mid-term review of 11th Malaysia Plan – to review and streamline the role of monopoly entities) through distribution of more broadcasting licenses to new players.

It’s actually quite clear that the sharp decline is Aberdeen and maybe others getting out in a very bearish market. As I said it doesn’t look like a rights issue. You don’t leak news of an exercise and let the share price free fall and incapacitate it. All the good analyst here has showed that Armada has low single counter risk at this level. Superpanda is right. There’s only so much one can make from trading profit whereas this presents an opportunity for massive accumulation for an eventual recovery

Don't worry la. Comments in i3 can't change the share price. Maybe Uncle Koon created that impression that i3 can. I think it's clear it is his money not his words that have been moving counters. Uncle isn't only rich but can be quite reckless in pushing share prices up. Bornoil welcomes Uncle
2018-09-18 01:30 | Report Abuse
It's also hard to explain the ESOS you mentioned. I did a quick tally ESOS cost was about 67M. This is hard cash that has been paid to the Company. It is a huge amount relative to Bornoil's size. The Company cannot loan money to employees to subscribe and the ESOS rights were in the hands of multiple employees it cannot be concentrated in the hands of the senior management. So the employees paid Bornoil 67M to buy shares at 9 cents and did it in a hurry, and this was followed by the flush out to current levels. Who made money? Puzzling

firewall9301...your guess is as good as mine. We probably will never know what is their game. But something is obviously going on. Heavy traders/ syndicates hands in this counter. One of the clearest evidence is the way large volume/ more than 500k shares changed hands within seconds. Bursa floor rules retail buyers can only take up 500k shares per order. Like you said, what if. This can be an ongoing flush out. Syndicates can be very patient. It hasn't been that long ago really, last peak was about 16 months ago.

wan bornoil shares Issued 5.34 billions shares .. this company not a blue chip company just penny company ,low earning cannot to growth ...too many shares issued makes this penny shares too liquidity floods block the movement.Company will selling shares reduces holding and later will do this (shares consolidation)
All penny stock shares issued over 2 billions shares will anytime one by one do shares consolidation ....
13/09/2018 12:22
It is not as superficial as you may suggest. At this level it is hardly liquid. One bid is 9%, no one wants to be on the wrong side of a trade. A share consolidation will make it more tradeable. You're probably right to highlight that more than a handful of companies have fared poorly post share consolidation. But you have not mentioned that they have not been profitable which led to the share price going down to penny status in the first place - and a share consolidation couldn't save them.
The same for Bornoil, it really started coming down when we all realised that they lost money on the gold spot contracts. And the long awaited improvement in their mining sector be it gold or limestone/ clinkers have not materialised.
If Bornoil could deliver, and perhaps get a piece of Pan Borneo Highway, then whether it's penny or consolidated, it's gonna move regardless of the absolute price.
Superficial wan...

It is already seen in their very odd "6Q"2017 report that they are doing better. 6Q is for 2 months May-Jun 4M profit. 5Q is 3 months Feb-Apr 4M loss. 6Q brings an end to the change of financial period.
