Listening to the BBC and the western press in general there is no mention that the Basic Law requires Hong Kong to enact national security legislation.. 23 years after the handover it still hasn’t been achieved.

Trump & Pompeo were barking their heads off. Morrison barked to please its boss but ended in a whimper. Boris, Raab
& Pattern tried to but ended up howling because of it's internal brexit & Cummings misery. HK should console them instead.

In 1945, US already form the grand military strategy to lock China from easy access to the Pacific Ocean, through island ringing China using Japan, Taiwan n Philippines with Guam as forward defence position, despite the fact, China always stand by the principle of not colonising any other countries in her 2000 years history.
By stirring trouble in HK, it helped the weak Taiwan pro-independence President win back the election, thus, keeping Taiwan under US influence. China is fully aware of US CIA agents on HK ground, but due to the lack of national security law, HK is not able to act against these agents. China hopes HKgers enact Article 23 by her own, unfortunately, they were undermined by foreign agents working on HK ground. So, China took a decisive action in enact the national security law in HK.
Nevertheless, HK govt never attend to the serious concern of young HKgers with a reasonable housing policy, leaving the young frustrated and angry. With this, foreign agents can heat up the frustration onto the HK streets. If reasonable housing policy is not put in place, it will still trigger outbursts, security law or no law.

The US and the West probably miscalculated the extend of China's reaction. Or these foreign intelligence agencies are pushing too hard to destroy HK too quickly. If they slowed down the destruction of HK, China may still adpot a wait and see attitude. Of coure, China will not care what the USA and the West will do after the law. In fact, to restore peace and safety, this law is a must. HK can recover from the chaotic mess and return to normal hopefully. Let this Oriental Pearl shine again and remove and arrest those evil foreign intelligence agencies trying to destroy HK and its young generation. We have to thank China for taking this decisive action quickly to protect HK.
China should also play a role in protecting all Asian countries from USA and Western interference. The Great Asia has over 4.6 billion population and its future economic growth potential is huge provided there is a peaceful and safe environment. N. America has 0.37 billion, a 12 times difference. So China can forget N. American and put its effort in helping and developing the Great Asia to be the best place in the world. China has the ability to do so. Even there are many disputes among the Asian countries, but those can become minor if all can work towards the bigger goal of Great Asian development as a whole. It's time for Asia to stay away from Western colonialization shadow and their looting os Asian wealth. Asia can become strong again if those evil foreign intelligence agencies are not there.

No matter what HK is still part of China. And China is responsible for national security. So their move makes sense to me. As for complaints about the gap between rich and poor - if HK wants autonomy aren't THEY responsible for that? Further, USA has a huge gap between rich and poor, esp amongst racial divides. And watching USA police and military take IMMEDIATE action against protestors/rioters at home, after HK police (not CCP) were comparatively restrained, just shows to me how this is all about American imperialism and sinophobia, not about human rights.

I was not even aware we had any export to America. To me Hong Kong's manufacturing prowess was left to die during the last century. In any case, Hong Kong's trading relationship with China, even without regard to its motherland connection, more than compensates for whatever its trade with the USA. In dollar terms, USA is nothing. What pompous nitwit would think it is such a big deal?

Just like Catalonia which calls for Independence from Spain was crushed and why nobody in the west especially US and UK made a peep out of it. Similarly if Hawaii have a movement calling for Independence it will also be overrun by the US military and mass arrest. So if those people like Joshua Wong wants to start calling for Hong Kong Independence and flying the US and UK flags will face the heat when this law is passed.
