Overall the QR result is good:
1) Increasing revenue;
2) PBT of RM110mil (more than my estimated RM90mil) before fair value changes in biological assets;
3) Fair value changes in biological assets relates to timber and not palm oil (expected as to get fair value for forestry, it depends on the yield, and since the company shifted focus to concentrate on palm oil in 2023, there will be a write down), however this is only paper loss;
4) There might be a reversal in write down as timber production starts to pick up again;
5) Huge operating cashflows;
6) Reducing finance costs;
7) Increasing dividend payout
Can keep for long term with a TP of RM1.40-1.50 at end of 2024 (with an expected larger increase in dividend for 2H)

The deferred tax asset is expensed to PL upon utilisation of reinvestment allowance to offset current year taxable profits. They should at least compute it each quarter instead of charging it all in one quarter.

Yes correct, that's y i flag the high stockpile issue, if u notice, management has increased lumber output to compensate for the reduction in CPO volume, whether intentionally or not I am not sure

Yes, this I agree, this coming quarter should be good result and might declare dividend (hopefully)

In fact upon the removal of subsidies, the smaller players in the market will die off, thus leaving more market share to the larger players

I do not understand what is the fuss all about
If the government removes subsidies, then the price ceiling for egg will be removed as well, thus selling price for eggs will increase by at least RM0.10 or more.
Demand for eggs is inelastic, consumers got no alternative, maybe short term wise will reduce a little bit but over a few months, demand will go back to normal or even higher as population increases.

And if the price is dirt cheap now, why has none of the other founding shareholders increase their shareholdings?
2024-01-19 05:44 | Report Abuse
The real question to ask now is why the investors who have been with Lau from the beginning....or has been supporting LHI to grow until now, decided to gradually decrease their shareholding
2024-01-19 05:40 | Report Abuse
I think we need to clarify some facts, the cornerstone investor already held shares prior to ipo...in fact they have already profited from the ipo exercise by letting go half of their shareholdings during the exercise..as to are they selling at a loss? nobody knows as their initial cost of investment could b very low, thus they could still b making profits selling at this price
2024-01-18 10:03 | Report Abuse
probably the cornerstone investor knows something that we all do not know, anyway Vietnam market is slowing down, would LHI be able to maintain the performance? The upside would be Vietnam authorities cracking down on illegal imports of chicken meat, but this is yet to be seen

2023-12-07 15:42 | Report Abuse
Maybank TP is RM0.70...if u ask me, the fair value is around RM0.65-RM0.75, anything above is not sustainable

Dear fellow investors,
I did raise earlier the issue as to why the cornerstone investor keeps selling even though market conditions seems favourable to LHI and that the cornerstone investor is still making capital gains even though selling at such low prices, the lower than expected QR seems to justify that.
Moving forward, with the lack of subsidies from Malaysia government moving forward, slowdown in Indonesia market, higher USD vs MYR rate, high transportation costs and also the fact that LHI has not taken in the penalty in the books yet, I see the share price reaching RM0.50 soon.
The only positive will be the recent reduction in corn and soybean prices.
