Umno bodohkan Melayu, kata Dr Siti Mariah
K Pragalath
| March 18, 2014
Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud turut mendakwa bahawa Umno kin mengaplikasi sentimen perkauman.
Hanya 541 undi rosak direkodkan.

PKR: BN youths assaulted our man
P Ramani
| March 24, 2014
PKR claims that one of its youth leaders was assaulted by BN youths during the Kajang by-election.
pkrPETALING JAYA: PKR Batu Caves state assemblyman Amiruddin Shari urged Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth leader Khairy Jamaluddin to respond on the indecent behaviour shown by his youth members during the Kajang state by-election yesterday.
In a press conference this afternoon at the party headquarters, Amiruddin related that Johor youth assistant chief Mohd Ramly Ahmad was assaulted by eight individuals believed to be from BN Youth campaigners.
The incident was alleged to have taken place around 3pm in front of Sekolah Kebangsaan Kajang polling station.
According to Amiruddin, the individuals surrounded Mohd Ramly when he was walking towards his car and assaulted him with flag sticks which resulted in him sustaining forehead and body injuries.
After the incident, the victim was brought to PKR’s medical aid room to receive treatment. Thereafter the victim with other PKR youth members lodged a report at the Kajang district police station, said Amiruddin.
Amiruddin added that this case was being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code by ASP Mohamad Sajidan Abdul Sukor.
Amiruddin said he had previously reminded Youth and Sports Minister Khairy, who is also the Umno Youth chief, to take care of his youth teams and avoid creating any provocation or ruckus during the campaign and election time.
Amiruddin added that the BN youth members were acting like gangsters by shouting vulgar words and showing indecent gestures during the campaign.
In yesterday’s poll, PKR candidate Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail defeated MCA vice-president Chew Mei Fun with a majority of 5,379 votes.
She polled 16,741 votes whereas Chew polled 11,362 votes. There were 176 spoilt votes.
The voter turnout was low this time, only at 72.1% (28,314 voters), compared to a turnout of 87.9 percent in the May 5 general election last year

Kajang by-election result – MCA crushed while UMNO losing ground in Malay electorate
PKR President Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is to be congratulated for a sterling result in the Kajang by-election yesterday.
Despite a massive 16.3% in reduction in the voter turn-out from 88.4 per cent in the 13th general elections last May to 72.1% yesterday, Azizah has established two results in the by-election: MCA remain crushed while UMNO is losing ground in the Malay electorate.
The new MCA national leadership deserves commendation that they can see winning at most 25% of the Chinese votes in Kajang as a “surge in support” among the Chinese voters.
If winning at most 25% of the Chinese votes is not a political phenomenon of the MCA remaining “crushed”, then there is a new definition of the word.
In fact, MCA leaders are demonstrating that they are the new “Ah Q” at the most superlative in the Malaysian political landscape!
There can be no doubt that if the turnout of the Chinese voters had not dropped by a massive 20%, exceeding 3,000 voters, the BN/MCA candidate would have lost by a bigger majority than the 6,824-vote majority last year.
This is especially the case when Azizah’s breakthrough among the Malay electorate is taken into account, raising the estimated Malay voter support from 35% last year to some 44% in the by-election yesterday.
The message in yesterday’s Kajang by-election is that Pakatan Rakyat stands for the future of Malaysian politics, while MCA and Barisan Nasional represent the past.

Wan Azizah: PRK Kajang bukti pengundi Melayu kembali sokong PR

Undi Melayu bertambah, Cina kekal objektif Pakatan
Mar 24, 2014
ANIS NAZRI

March 24, 2014

Even UMNO losing Malay support in Malay majority areas....so how?
Rafizi : 7% pengundi Melayu ‘swing’, PR berjaya tembus 2 kubu kuat BN

There was a sudden loss of interest in the polls because of the attention focused on the search for the missing MAS Boeing 777 with 239 passengers and crew.
Asked for comment on her victory, Wan Azizah said: “My focus now is mainly on Kajang. We must show good governance. We must be a role model so that the voters can see that it can be translated towards governing Malaysia.”
Wan Azizah also insisted that position was not important to her as “service for the Kajang constituents is what matters now”.
MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai was quoted as saying the party was not demoralised by the defeat as it had increased support from its core base support group – the Chinese community.
“We have lost by about 5,000 votes but we have performed well because the Chinese votes bounced back from 18 per cent to 25 per cent,” he said, echoing Chew’s claim.
“We hope to increase the support to 50 per cent in the future,” Liow added.
However, Pakatan made significant inroads by securing more votes than BN in two voting districts known for their high population of Malay Muslims – Sungai Sekamat and Taman Delima.
In Malay-majority Batu 10 Cheras and Sungai Kantan, PKR managed to reduce the number of BN votes by about 50 per cent.
Former MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat issued a statement urging BN to “stop the denial syndrome” and conduct a seious post-mortem into MCA performance.
“We need to ask why an MCA vice-president heavily favoured by the MCA president lost 14 out of 16 polling districts, including those won in GE13 and other previously ‘stronghold’ areas.
“It is pointless to harp on a negligible change in voter sentiment from a particular community. The two per cent increase in overall support for Pakatan shows that the voters are more interested in national issues, even in ADUN (state) seats,” he said.
Clearly, Chew’s lightning-quick “moral victory” claim is misplaced, typical of MCA and BN’s “living in denial” mode.
If Chew’s “moral victory” is any indication of MCA and BN’s continuous political arrogance, then it is superb news for Pakatan’s march to Putrajaya in GE14.
Just like the fate of dinosaurs, BN’s inability or stubborn refusal to change and adapt to a growing and more informed society means it is heading towards political extinction.

Can BN-MCA justify its claim of ‘moral victory’ in Kajang?
As expected, PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail won the Kajang by-election comfortably with a 5,379-vote majority (1,445 fewer votes than in GE13).
What is significant in this PKR victory is that it enhanced its popular vote in Kajang by two percentage points in a by-election that gave Barisan Nasional (BN) all the edge in terms of election machinery and resources.
BN-MCA’s vanquished candidate, Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, wasted no time in claiming “moral victory” in reducing PKR’s winning margin and enhancing Chinese votes from 18 per cent in GE13 to 25 per cent this time around.
Is Chew’s claim legitimate or a folly? Let’s analyse the figures.
Chew garnered 11,362 votes compared with her compatriot Lee Ban Seng’s 12,747 votes in GE13 or 1,385 ballots fewer.
Wan Azizah received 16,741 votes compared with her comrade Lee Chin Cheh’s 19,571 votes in GE13 or 2,830 ballots fewer.
In GE13, the turnout was 34,430 voters compared with 28,314 in the Kajang by-election, or a shortfall of 6,116 voters. In terms of voter percentage, GE13 registered 88.4 per cent compared with 72.1 per cent in the March 23 by-election or a 16.3 percentage-point drop.
The number of votes cast dropped by 16.3 percentage points and yet PKR increased its popular vote by two percentage points. And Wan Azizah also managed to increase Malay support for PKR and Pakatan Rakyat. Moral victory for MCA or BN?
Also, is Chew’s narrowing of the majority by 1,445 ballots an increase in absolute numbers or just percentage points due to a lower voter turnout?
This was despite a two-month-long campaign dominated by conflicting mantra of “Wan Azizah to Putrajaya” confusing Pakatan supporters - was the Kajang Move for consolidating the Selangor leadership or taking federal power?
The contradictions were equally telling in the BN, from highlighting Pakatan’s political infighting to racist promotion, calling for the Chinese community to vote along ethnic lines.
The BR1M 3.0, transportation allowances and food “gifts” dominated the BN election campaign, though comparatively less money was spent on this “buy”-election than others. Not forgetting the promised funds for upgrading Kajang Hospital.
The MH370 crisis also had a telling impact on the Kajang by-election campaign. For many Malaysians, this period of anguish for the families and commitment to finding the plane was far more important that the continued saga of BN-Pakatan political contestation.

What has become of the media and its role? Why is the local media completely muted on the many national and international issues that had been highlighted by the alternative media and social media?
Who is to blame for the government's culture of "ask no questions, just accept what we say or our explanations"?
Don't pander to propagation of 'no questions asked' culture

Truckloads of straight A's increases every year.
It's amazing to see how students score straight A's. Here's a comment from one of our readers:
Odin: You don't need to be very intelligent to tell that the passing marks are considered secret under the Official Secrets Act (OSA) because they are very low.
Obviously, the ‘A' pass in Malaysia is not an 'alpha' but an ‘ass', that is, ‘donkey'. Elsewhere, you have ‘A' for ‘Alpha', that is, ‘distinction'; ‘B' for ‘above-average pass'; ‘C' for ‘credit pass'; and ‘D' (donkey) for ‘fail'.
But the passing mark does not seem the only factor in the Malaysian education system that is hidden. If we recall, a recent report had it that Pemandu stated that it could not obtain pertinent details because they were protected under the OSA.
When you have been having asses as education ministers and all of whom have been wanting to look good, what else can you expect?

A country once known for its quietly strong economy is becoming better known as something else: a disorganized, unmeritocratic country completely unable to cope with a real emergency.

Can Malaysians be blamed for wondering where the priorities of the BN-led and Umno-dominated government are? Are they thinking of the hardships of the rakyat or the need to pay off ‘allies’ that help keep them in power?

myop101 I think the safest thing you can tell your friends and family would be to avoid MAS at all cost. Seems like their pilots are getting reckless and their planes are not properly maintained.

ZhangFei I think MAS need to buckup, 1st missing, 2nd flock of birds, 3rd generator failure. Common what the heck is happening? Just don't be like darul runtuh, if anymore bad news release, considering of shop closing. Please buck up, and don't waste tax payers money. Jauh hari should be sack as jauh diri better.

Bad Head It is high time to close down MAS. Let Airasia take over the whole operation. Before that, sack the MAS CEO first. He is good for nothing. You would agree with me if you follow the daily press conference. He seems to know nothing. Really sick.

Anonymous_5fb MAS, you might as well close shop, for you have caused phobias, not only to your customers, but to you crews and pilots.

Oriole MAS needs independent auditing and inspections from top to bottom. Do not endanger anymore lives. How many more close calls must there be before a thorough revamp of this carrier is carried out? Something is seriously wrong with the quality control, its management, its day to day ops and its general reliability. If this airlines cannot guarantee safety and competence, they have no business in the business of flying.
1Mockery You can manipulate local MSM to your advantage. You can't do that to international media.God act mysteriously. Its God's way to punish the inept regime. Its MH 370,then a flight heading India got to turn back, then Duck accident in Nepal and now Hong Kong......What else.Soon Mas,the "pride" of the nation will be a bankrupt.Mainly due to inept goverment

Press Statement by YB Zuraida on Kajang by-election victory 25 Mac 2014
Winning the Kajang by-election is the first step to Putrajaya. We thank all the voters for their throwing their support and putting their trust in us. We assure them that they have made the right decision.
The Kajang Move has always been about saving Selangor from the threats of BN. The injustice that has befallen DS Anwar Ibrahim is only expected of a regime that severely lacks independence in the judiciary.
Although DS Anwar Ibrahim was hurriedly disqualified from being the candidate for Kajang, DS Wan Azizah is just as capable to carry the torch of justice to the finishing line.
Reformasi 2.0 has just begun.
From Kajang to Putrajaya marks the beginning of a renewed movement to restore justice to the fore.
Malaysians are tired of the incompetency of Ministers who always say the wrong things at the wrong time; do the wrong things at the wrong time and make timely disappearances when they are needed most.
Suffice to say, Malaysians are tired of BN’s antics and the behaviour of the protected elite.
The bigger picture here is not only about DS Wan Azizah being the state assemblyperson for Kajang – it is about the Kajang voter’s believe in her to lead and to bring about a big change in our country. It is about eliminating cronyism – we are 3rd place in the world for cronyism just behind Hong Kong and Russia.
It is about bringing about transparency to our country and it is about nursing an ailing nation back to health.
The eerie similarity that cast DS Wan Azizah once again into a role she never asked for is an indication that the cause she was fighting for since 1999 still needs to go on.
In this regard, DS Wan Azizah has been given the mandate again to lead the people who voted for Pakatan Rakyat to secure a better future for our children.
Her famous words ‘Lapkan air mata, teruskan perjuangan’ is proof of the 15 years of political hardship and oppression Malaysians have to endure due to an unjust system. To fight a rooted and powerful system is never easy but with the increasing support of Malaysians who crave for justice, we are not far that from Putrajaya anymore.
Once again, I would like to wish all Malaysian supporters especially the voters of Kajang a very big thank you. You have made the Kajang Move possible.
YB Zuraida Kamaruddin
Ahli Parlimen Ampang
Ketua Wanita Keadilan
Timbalan Pengarah Pilihanraya DUN Kajang N25
