Danny sold 4.6 million shares to Mr X @ only 0.75. Mr X doesn't want dividend, he slowly sells below 90 sen.

Yes, BIMB earnings and dividends are impressive. But I don't know whether Islamic banks practise the same prudence like traditional banks in providing for loan provisions. If they do, then it's good.

I always think that a bigger banking group would acquire Affin, possibly Maybank. Affin has a strong investment bank in Affin-Hwang, so there is synergy for Maybank to acquire Affin. It is up to the government to induce a merger.

Insas already sold down Inari below 20% sometime around September 2017 if I am not mistaken, that's already over a year ago. Despite holding less than 20%, Insas continued equity accounting of its share of Inari's results. By continuing to do so Insas did not recognize any unrealised gains of the market price over its cost of investment in Inari.

Hello Leno, welcome back from your holidays.

I have never studied BIMB, so I don't know much about it. Affin caught my attention because it is trading at a huge discount to its net assets. The market doesn't think highly of Affin's management and neither do I. I take up a position in Affin because I think one day a merger between Affin and another banking group will take place and when it does, Affin's value will be unlocked. Limited downside risk as Affin is making consistently good profits and giving consistently reasonable dividends and potentially huge upside to share price if merger materializes.

Many, many other counters also undervalued during a bear phase of the stockmarket. Affin needs to be involved in a merger with another banking group to unlock its value.

Correction : in equity accounting, dividend received from Inari would reduce Insas cost of investment in Inari.

Dear Mr Sslee, the market price of a stock is determined mainly how tight the stock is held. A stock cornered by a few substantial shareholders will keep the price up ...... until one day these elephants try to exit via the only door.

Controlling shareholders who already own more than 50% can buy or sell any amount if shares freely without restrictions. Major shareholders who own between 33% to 50% can buy up to 2% of the company's total shares over a six months rolling period without triggering a MGO. Major shareholders who own below 33% will trigger a MGO when 33% is breached and must show proof to SC they have the financial means to buy out the remaining 67% at the highest done price. Controlling/Major shareholders include persons in concert ie holdings through companies controlled by them, through spouse, children, parents, siblings, in-laws etc.

From what I observe PUC is an ambitious fintech/multimedia company.

These past few days weak contra players have been slaughtered. That's why so much anger. At 10.5 sen the downside risk is limited (to 5% if price goes down to 10 sen) while the upside potential is huge in terms of percentage. Where can you find a stock that might go down 5% or go up 50%? The global stock/commodity markets are seeing the birth of a young calf which shall rise to slaughter the bear. Try to buy at 10.5 sen if you still can and then hold for the great day.

Let us have some faith in what PUC is doing. But that doesn't mean to hold the stock forever. There is a time to buy and a time to sell and each point of that time depends on the current and future situation. New business proposals change the direction and potential of a company. Most people say they are in the long haul, that is because they are stuck at high entry price. I re-entered at 10.5 sen today, I may exit at 15.5 sen again or I may think it might go beyond 20 sen. Que sera sera, nobody knows the future.

Btw I am not a TA guy. Most people join Government for job security and pension. PUC will only be providing loans to these people and the amount of loan will be within their ability to repay. Since repayment of the loans will be through monthly salary deductions, it will be timely and extremely low risk of default.

Sometimes MOUs are aborted because of failure of the other party. PUC has always wanted to be in the fintech business and I think it has hit the jackpot with this one. The potential business of providing loans to government employees is huge with high returns while the risk of loan defaults is low.
