Don’t waste too much time and money on DNex. Poor management.

I still believe in the potential of DNex. Still holding some share. As retail investors we are in the dark as to the latest in DNex arbitration with their China partners. We can only hope for the best

Understandably lots of loyal retail Dnexers suffered huge losses in DNex. Me included. I lessened my concentration on DNex, 2 weeks ago I sold a lot of DNex at a big loss and switched to Cypark. Fortunately Cypark moved up and helped me recover a huge portion of my losses in DNex. Cypark business is arguably less attractive than DNex ( debatable of course ) but its share price has risen and overtaken DNex. Don’t over focus on DNex. Look at other counters

Do not over exposed to DNex until their legal issues with their China counterparts are settled. The counter ‘goes up 1 sen and drops 1.5sen’ mode.

DNex share price is a big let down. We had so much hope for DNex and despite all the hype of wafer, oil, IT and govt contracts, several big MOUs etc its share price is below its NTA. What’s happening????

DNex is now trading 12 sen below its NTA of 62sen. Honestly a good buy at this price but may hv to hold till Feb 2023 unless the issues are settled amicably sooner

Agree with JamalHussein. Let’s comment maturedly and responsibly without having to laugh or curse at people who incur losses. We all make losses/gains. It’s an inherent risk in investing. What most Dnexers here is trying to say is that the drop in DNex share price was unexpected and could hv been avoided had the Chairman and BOD been more vigilant. And we urge the Executive Chairman to take quick actions to solve the impasse amicably and hv the interest of shareholders at heart

Pls Executive Chairman and BOD get these issues settled amicably within 3 days. 'When the elephants fight, the grass gets trampled. ' When powerful forces go to war, it's their people who are hurt. Those who never asked for the conflict in the first place are caught, and killed, in the crossfire.

Disappointing DNex with all the promises of wafer, strong cash balances, good profits, oil, IT biznes. There are companies worst off in their business performances yet their share prices are higher than DNex. DNex now trading at 10% below NTA. Annualised profits circa RM160mil. Can’t understand why the share price can’t go up

Market don’t like uncertainties. It’s to the best interest of DNex and its China partner in SilTerra to give clarity and assurances on SilTerra moving forward. Have to expedite a win-win solution ASAP

All sounds good. However I’m still sceptical. If DNex is that good as many people says including investment bankers then why are institutional investors not biting it? Huge cash balances, sustainable business, strong growth trajectory etc etc but still dropping 1 sen per day past days and trading below NTA of 62 sen. Something we don’t know?
2022-12-06 16:47 | Report Abuse
Watch your language and be kind to others who may have lost their hard earned money. We are here to share and to support fellow investors not run people down. Karma will bite you hard if you are unkind. We all should be kind and helpful. Please

Don’t think DNex can go back to even 80sen levels. For now it’s 55 - 57 sen range. Don’t place your hopes too high. DNex can only move if n when the impasse with their China partner in SilTerra is resolved amicably. Meanwhile, they are many other good counters to invest. For those who bought at above RM1 wait for another 6 months

The share price is now about 10% below its NTA of 0.62sen. So much hype on wafer, oil, govt contracts, Foxconn, strong China partners and LTA support, over a billion in cash holding but there must be something wrong. Investment bankers also got it wrong. Only the MD/CEO knows what’s happening. Foxconn bought at 90sen. They must be ‘confused’ too

So so sorry for those who believed in DNex. I was very positive on DNex but I guess I was wrong. DNex was at par with Hibiscus, MyEG, Top Glove at one point of time. Today is 50% of Hibiscus. Pathetic counter. Look elsewhere and move on

The 1st Headline that spooked investors - DNeX 1Q net profit slumps 86% due to absence of SilTerra bargain purchase effect - The Edge Markets
The 2nd Headline - Excluding SilTerra bargain purchase effect, DNeX starts FY2023 on stronger footing.
Dagang NeXchange Bhd (DNeX) posted a net profit of RM41.72 million for its first quarter ended Sept 30, 2022.
Excluding the one-off-gain from the bargain purchase, DNex's net profit grew 44% from the normalised 1QFY2022 net profit of RM29.05 million, as revenue grew 55% to RM419.58 million from RM270.87 million a year ago, driven by higher contribution from both its technology and energy segments, its bourse filing showed.

I don’t get it why some fellow investors make fun of or ridicule others. We should be helping fellow investors with facts and information so that we can make correct investment decisions.
That said, those who have bought DNex at higher prices and now suffering paper losses here are some facts that could give you hope. Just hold on and don’t despair.
1. DNex did well FY22 with a net profit of RM549.6 mil. How many companies on Bursa hv profits above RM500 mil? Not many.
2. DNex 3 core biznes - Technology (SilTerra), Energy (Ping Petroleum) & IT ( Govt contracts - NSW ). Let’s see how these 3 core biznes performed FY Jun 22
3. DNex technology biznes emerged as the biggest contributor with RM857mil ( 60% of total revenue). Next, their Energy biznes recorded revenue of RM379 mil ( 26% of total revenue ). IT contributed RM200mil or 14%
4. Are these 3 core biznes performances sustainable?
5. A ‘Yes’ for Technology - higher average selling price (ASP), continued worldwide demand for chips, SilTerra’s operational improvements/efficiency & outputs - plant expansion. Then there is this 3 long-term agreements secured with major clients which will fulfil capacity utilisation by more than 70 per cent.
6. A ‘Yes’ for Energy too - The Brent crude oil spot price forecast averages $98 per barrel (b) in the fourth quarter of 2022 (4Q22) and $97/b in 2023 ( Source US EIA ). According to a Research house, Ping Petroleum has a low operating expense per barrel (opex/bbl) of less USD20. They reckoned the estimated cash-breakeven crude oil price to be at about US$45 per barrel. A good margin of safety unless oil prices drop to the USD50s. Possible but unlikely.
7. Another ‘Yes’ for their IT govt contract biznes. DNex have secured the National Single Window (NSW) contract extension until August 31, 2024. Their new trade facilitation-related service offerings, especially in the business-to-business (B2B) segment locally are gaining traction. They are also moving NSW into international markets and are in the pilot implementation phase
8. Whilst revenue are important to any company, more important is net cash flow. You would hv heard of companies reporting bloated revenue and profits but with negative cash flow. What happens next? These companies goes ‘bust’.
9. For FY22, DNeX generated a strong net cash flow from operating activities amounting to RM643.8 million.
10. The company's balance sheet remains solid with total cash of RM1.02 billion, while total loans and borrowings stood at RM319.3 million as of June 30, 2022.
11. DNex is currently trading at PE of 4.7. Average PE for tech/semiconductor stocks on Bursa is around 20
12. DNex NTA is 59 sen meaning DNex is not an hollow company

I don’t think it is so much about the management. Looking at their financial performances last year they are doing ok. Prudent in their spending. A cash balance of about RM1bil in the war chest speaks volume of their financial discipline. I would think the share price is somewhat suppressed for now to allow certain parties to collect more shares at low price. Don’t forget Foxconn paid 90sen for their block of shares at a time when SilTerra was still operating at low volume and at a loss perhaps too. Now that SilTerra has turned around and secured long term purchase agreements and oil prices hv been well above USD90 then ‘logically’ the share price should be higher than 90sen. But it is not right now! Don’t know what’s their game plan. Be patient and hold till next Qtr results

If DNex Directors not mindful or pay close attention to the share price very soon they find foreigners owning huge chunks of DNex shares compared to Malaysian retail investors. To build n operate a Wafer plants involves billions and here we have SilTerra, Ping Petroleum, govt contracts etc etc. Share price is trading at PE4.7. Possibly some smart investors are picking up DNex at these prices 82 - 83 sen.

It’s interesting to see Prophets of Doom and Prophets of Boom in DNex chatroom or for the matter in any investors chatroom. The former tells investors of impending bad news and price drops but without data to substantiate such a call. Similarly, the Prophets of Boom will shout Up Up Up, Limit Up, RM3 target but also without robust data. Only time will tell …
There is another more rationale group who make comments based on data that are available. Some even take extra mile efforts to deep dive to explain their views.
For me and those hoping to make some income in share trades/investment, we make investment decisions swayed by company announcements especially looking out for clear biznes directions of the company and equally important the Captain of the company.
Past 3 months we see many key announcements and indications of where Dnex will be heading :
12 Mar The Star
(DNeX) has secured the National Single Window (NSW) for Trade Facilitation contract for another three years through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Dagang Net Technologies Sdn Bhd. The government has approved the contract extension commencing Sept 1,2021 until Aug 31,2024.
Syed Zainal Abidin said DNex is also expanding the offering of its trade facilitation eServices with the introduction of business-to-business (B2B) initiatives that can contribute to the country’s digital economy push.
18 May NST
DNeX consortium inks installation, maintenance deal for submarine cables in Indonesia. Syed Zainal Abidin said the new contract can help propel the company to become a leading regional player in submarine cable laying, maintenance and repair works.
14 June Bernama
Syed Zainal Abidin said potential areas for collaboration between DNeX and Foxconn are semiconductor and downstream products, electric vehicles (EVs) and businesses related to the EV value chain.
19 June The Star
DNeX looking into acquiring upstream oil and gas assets.
In a nutshell, DNex have their hands in growth areas ie IT & e-Services, Submarine Cables, wafer & semiconductors, O & G.
You may say they are heading towards conglomerate status. Will it happen n how soon? Only time will tell …
As always, this is never meant to be a call to buy or sell. More of sharing information for better decisions.
Early Happy Father’s Day wishes to all

There is truly no need to ridicule or laugh at fellow investors or made rude comments. What we are doing is merely sharing whatever info that we may come across for the BENEFIT OF ALL. At the end of the day we all want to make some gains especially in these difficult and challenging times.
It is NEVER a call to buy or sell. Merely information so that small investors like us can make better judgment calls. There are always inherent risks in any investments and hence it’s up to each individual person.
My wish is that we all make profits be them small or big. And feeling happy. Happiness is true wealth.
Cheers n Good Luck to all
