ahbah, if you want to know more about Tan Teng Boo's forecast and the performance of icapital.biz Bhd, I suggest you subscribe to his weekly publication "i Capital" or www.icapital.biz to get first hand information instead of relying on second hand or third hand information. I have been reading his publication for many years. Trust me, you won't regret subscribing it. A serious and smart investor always get first hand information.

I prefer the "perfect english" ahbah, so much easier to understand you. Since your english is so good, why do you have to pretend and say your english is no good in your earlier message and purposely use broken english to disguise yourself ?

ICAP board is doing the right thing by asking CLIM to observe the law.

Glittercat, ICap has been trading at a consistent premium since listing until the 2008 global financial crisis. Subsequently, the discount narrows to about 3% until City of London started buying in 2010. Since then, the discount started to widen and has maintained at around 20% for about 10 years. There are a number of things I don't understand. Firstly, why CLIM bought so much, the discount did not narrow ? You are talking more than 20% of the shares !!!!! Secondly, the discount is a straight line. It is like a person on tightrope walking, holding a balancing beam, making sure that it is maintaining at about 20% less he falls. How peculiar !!!

Again, there is nothing wrong to want to make money. But one must do so ethically. Human beings are a different class of creatures that God created. We have conscience, unlike other animals. If the love of money make a man/woman loses his/her basic characteristics of a human being, how sad!

A collective investment scheme is supposed to pool the money of small investors so that small investors can have the service of a professional fund manager. Otherwise, why set up a CIS ? If everyone can invest on his own, why invest in a CIS ?
If ICAP is wound up, TTB is not hurt. He can manage other funds or other clients and maybe is happier because he does not have to deal with city of london anymore or being attacked by hooligans in the forum like this. But small investors in Malaysia will lose. Malaysia's capital market will lose. Malaysians as a whole will lose.

Using vulgar language and obscene words to attack others just show that the person has no solid arguments to support his points. Therefore, out of desperation, choose to degrade himself.

To be a licensed fund manager, one has to pass SC's exams and report to SC frequently. This is how SC protect the man in the street on their investments. The fact that SC renews a fund manager's license every year itself is already a testimony to the integrity and professionalism of the fund manager.
Do you invest with a licensed fund manager or do you follow the advice of people who are not fit or qualified for SC to grant them a fund manager licence and can only come to forums like this to brag about themselves (without proof) and con naive investors ? If you are smart, I am sure you know how to choose.

There are so many comments here. Who is telling the truth, who is lying or saying things without thinking or research ? Actually, it is quite easy to find out. For example, it is stated clearly stated in ICAP's Annual Report that the year to consider whether to continue the Fund or to wind up the Fund is not 2020. But in this forum, people kept on saying next year is the time shareholders can vote to wind up the Fund. A responsible and honorable person will not simply say things that are not supported by facts. If they can't even get a simple fact right, how to believe their other comments ?

Freestyle, ICAP's investment approach is value investing. This approach involves a lot of research, looking for undervalue stocks. When a value investor thinks that the market is overvalue, the stocks are selling at high valuation, he will keep cash, waiting for the right opportunity. This is not timing the marketing. ICAP does not keep high cash level all the time, its cash level dropped to as low as 10.5% in 2009. Value investor like Warren Buffett also keeps high cash level when he thinks the market is overvalue. In fact, one has to do a lot of research to come to the conclusion that the market is overvalue and one should keep cash. In other words, keeping cash does not equal being lazy and not doing any work. On the contrary, it is a decision after a careful research. Freestyle, you are new, please be careful in who you can trust. There are many people out there who are lying and very irresponsible. Think for yourself, if you want to buy a house, you would study the house, the area, etc carefully, then make a decision. After considering, if you think that the house is selling above its true value because of a property bubble and you should keep cash now, are you being lazy because you did not buy the house and keep cash ? No, you are being wise. Those who say that you are lazy is very unfair and irresponsible. So Freestyle, think carefully and do your own research, then you will know who is telling the truth and who is trying to cheat you.

To make this world a better place, more people need to come out to stop fake news. Staying silent is sending a wrong message to those who would not think twice to tell lies. It will never be too late to do what is right.

COL is a fund manager based in London. Their focus is to invest in or attack CEFs. They were behind the winding up of Malaysia's first closed-end fund - Amanah Millenia Fund about 10 years ago. SC's guideline on CEF stated that a single shareholder cannot hold more than 20% of a CEF's shares. In this case, COL has breached the SC's guideline. Hopefully, SC will take the appropriate action to uphold Malaysia's law.
