In case you have not noticed... AirAsia price has plunged to 1.1x due mainly to the predicament that IAA is in now... and IAA is in where it is today because its cost structure is just simply not working..... due to its financing mix is just simply not working..


Now at this moment.... according to GMT.. AirAsia is in danger of not getting its billion back from IAA... yet here you are insisting AirAsia... by doing IAA the way it was doing it.... will get its ROI

In any case... if AirAsia had in fact gamed IAA PAA previously there is no need to game on them anymore..

Anyway.... if there is any truths in GMT report... IAA PAA can easily turn in a profit if AirAsia stopped gaming on them... and from now on charge them a "fair" airplane lease rental instead of over charging..

Airline business gestation period before turning in a profit is long... this can be seen from the tenures of the loans granted to AirAsia by banks for purchacing airplanes of upto 17 years..... as such.. the fact that IAA PAA are taking time is not exactly unexpected..


AirAsia had been... maybe too eager.. maybe too confident.. or maybe required the connectivity.... to have got into IAA PAA without a proper level of capitalisation... and commitment from the local JV partners..


If there were enough capital.... IAA PAA could have owned some airplanes of their own to take advantage of the long loan repayment period.... instead of getting a 90 day credit period from AirAsia..... which clearly has violated the no no in financing a long term project with a short term financing.... a clear mismatch

This arrangement... while very good for AirAsia as it will receive cash fast but only have to pay its banks in 17 years... is however just not sustainable for IAA PAA.. and the Indon accident has seen to it coming undone..

This lesson... by now... surely has been learned

But.... if AirAsia continues to do it.. it would mean it is taking the view that it is operating as a group... the AirAsia Group... and other considerations are taking priorities


In any case... when the IPO of IAA PAA take off.. they can start owning planes and never look back..

Say, fuel consumption remains more or less the same and say, the average jet fuel price has dropped a mere 25% (vs 50% for crude.. easier la like this no need to really know how many % is hedged at how much... a drop of 25% is reasonable)
So... 2,254,237,000 × 25% = 563,559,250 ie saving for 2015 roughly

The saving due to low fuel price for 2015 would be RM 563,559,250.... a bloody big figure no matter how you look at it

AirAsia's low jet fuel play is sound... and the reason for all the IBs' Buy call
