We expect some decency in people of high office. Here the AG Idrus Harun , like his predecessor Appandi have been tainted with clogged brains. Next he may say that he applies Appandi's letter that there is no case against Najib--Najib was politically victimised.

The legal mind knows that when a person in public office he cannot be seen accumulating millions of dollars in his personal or proxy account--it is corruption. Ideally the spouse and the family ought to be investigated.too. Now you find the whole gang of the coalition with unusual wealth--what to do and it becomes the norm. If it has come to that stage , the good fellows are deemed dissenters and will be punished. So you see where we are heading?

Musa's lawyer, Amer Hamzah Arshad, said the charges had been akin to "political persecution".

The prosecution gave no reason for withdrawing the charges, which involved a total of 403 million ringgit ($94.60 million), and the opposition Pakatan Harapan coalition described the decision as "confusing and disappointing".

"The attorney general's chambers must immediately provide a full explanation for the decision as it would reflect on the true face of today's administration," it said in a statement.

Opposition leaders and critics fear political influence could sway the outcome of the cases against Najib and other politicians as the country's new Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin is dependent on UMNO's support.

Najib faces multiple corruption charges in three separate trials linked to the siphoning off of billions of dollars from state fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and other cases.

He has pleaded not guilty and will know the verdict in the first case against him in July.

Najib, Musa and others described the cases brought against them as politically motivated.

Outrage over the 1MDB scandal was one of the main factors why UMNO lost the historic 2018 election, its first defeat since Malaysia emerged from British colonial rule more than 60 years ago.

The victors' multi-ethnic coalition, headed by veteran leader Mahathir Mohamed, splintered in February, paving the way for Muhyiddin to patch up with UMNO to form a new, Malay-dominated coalition.

After the change in government, Najib told Reuters news agency he expected an atmosphere more conducive to a fair hearing. Last month, prosecutors dropped 1MDB-related charges against Najib's stepson, Hollywood producer Riza Aziz.

Malaysian prosecutors drop corruption charges against Najib ally
High Court acquits Musa Aman, a senior figure in former PM Najib Razak's United Malays National Organisation.

Malaysian government prosecutors withdrew corruption charges on Tuesday against an ally of former prime minister Najib Razak, whose party returned to power in a new coalition three months ago after having lost the last election amid massive graft scandals.

The Kuala Lumpur High Court acquitted Musa Aman, a senior figure in Najib's United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) and former chief minister of Sabah state in Malaysian Borneo, after the prosecution dropped all 46 charges of alleged bribery in timber concession deals and money-laundering.

"he did not set a timeline, nor did he announce specific details as to which economic privileges would be removed, leaving uncertainty over what the US would actually do." I see Trump is leaving enough room to later backtrack or basically imposed trivial "slaps on the wrists" just to say he did something on the matter, lol.

An incredibly disingenuous CCP playbook 101 at this time, as people look to leave HK. (Nobody else really likes you or wants you narrative). Let’s be frank, Racism is disgusting and should not, indeed is not tolerated, in any modern society. Putting it into context, 297 incidents in a nation of over 60m people and billions of interactions between all races on a daily basis does not sound like a torrent of systemic racism. No context whatsoever.
HKers are welcome in the U.K., always have been and they integrate extremely well into the culture, not living in their own enclaves.
Another example of using the West liberal sensitivities to beat it with. As for QueenElizebeth IV, you’ve sold out lad, best you go north of the border and enjoy that Utopian society of freedom and diversity.

Plus the fact they are authoritarian, hence repressive in nature, have no respect for their fellow men and women and are pathologically selfish

And Malaysians deny that they are insecure, yet everything they do shouts insecurity

What I don't understand is what China gains from taking over HK 26 years early? China's actions won't gain any new business or money. It won't gain any respect. In fact, the opposite is true: China is damaging its own reputation abroad. I used to admire China's economic development greatly, but its HK policies build nothing, grow nothing, yield nothing for China.

The US needs to demonise China to ensure its hegemony over the world with endless wars and regime change. Hong Kong is just an excuse, and together with old imperialists like the UK, the US has chosen to inflame the situation.

Why countries like Australia want to join in this fray is hard to comprehend. It has a novice prime minister and a new foreign minister who feel the need to export their so-called superior brand of democracy and human rights.

Hong Kong is part of China and no sovereign nation will allow outside interference. More than 80 percent of Chinese citizens are satisfied with their government - a figure politicians in other countries would die for.

I don't see millions of Chinese tourists seeking asylum in US and western countries. In fact, they happily return to China after their holidays or business trips.

This new Cold War is just a US creation and so many naive Hong Kongers go along with them. In any other country, these protestors would be arrested for treason, subversion and the like.

SweetMemoryLane , Trump wasn't voted in by the popular vote, which he lost by 3 million votes. In the U.S. presidential election, the 18th century relic, the Electoral College, warps the poll results. A Constitutional amendment would be required to abolish it; that's unlikely to happen when half the politicians are Republicans.

This is what happens when you form a federal government without the people’s mandate - individual states will revolt as decisions at the federal level doesn’t appear to be in the best interest of state constituents, let alone states led by the current government parties that seem to be at odds with one another.

There is no confidence in federal leadership, hence why it’s imperative that Parliament resumes before industries and economies are forced to.

Plus, the only ministry that is seen as relevant and crucial at this point of time in our history is the Health Ministry, and their recommendations appear contradictory.

No employer wants to sue any state authorities for the closure as that will open floodgates of employees suing them if staff get Covid-19 from office contacts.

The employer has to spend millions of ringgit for everyday testing to ensure their staff is free from Covid-19. Does Azmin understand the basic of economics?

Trump's act is a wake up call to the world manipulated by interests of countries using the free press to harm the US . Time for the world to demand the rich and billionaires to contribute from their gains in a free world maintained by the US and the West .

PUTRAJAYA: Thirty-seven new COVID-19 cases were reported in Malaysia on Tuesday (May 19), bringing the country's total to 6,978 cases, including 1,218 which are active, said Health Ministry director-general Noor Hisham Abdullah.

"Two of the 37 new confirmed patients are imported cases while 35 are local transmissions, 22 of whom are foreigners,” he told a daily news conference.

Thirty-one patients had recovered and were discharged on Tuesday, said Dr Noor Hisham, bringing the cumulative figure for recoveries to 5,646, or 80.9 per cent of the total number of positive cases.

One more fatality was reported, bringing the death toll to 114, or 1.63 per cent of the total number of cases.

The latest fatality was Case 6,942, a 77-year-old Malaysian woman with a history of diabetes, high blood pressure and liver cancer who was admitted to a medical centre in Pahang. She was confirmed to have died at 3.09am on Monday.

Dr Noor Hisham said 11 people were still being treated in intensive care, including six who require ventilator support.

The official was also asked about standard operating procedures for shopping centres during the country's coming festivals.

Dr Noor Hisham expressed concern that some people were still taking the matter lightly and openly violating guidelines.

"We should be reminded that although the number of reported COVID-19 cases is dropping, the threat of infection still exists in the community," he said. "Therefore, we should protect ourselves, our family and the community from COVID-19 infection."

He also advised people to avoid shopping in crowded and cramped places where social distancing is difficult to practise.
