Thanks to some bearish articles about Mesiniaga as I can buy the stock at a lower price now

I don’t believe that Mesiniaga dare to file misleading and fake news with Bursa. The concern is whether they can deliver it in time as they have until 30 March 2020 to complete the job. Bravo if they can as on completion their image will be greatly enhanced. By then, I won’t be surprised if the stock price hit above RM5

At the AGM held on 30.8.17, the management said that the poor quarter was because they were focusing in building up Lumiqs at the expense of the other sectors. They didn't give any guidance for the next quarter. This, I think, is why the stock has such a drastic drop in its price. The fundamentals of the company is intact. Its balance sheet is very strong with lots of cash and zero borrowings. Smart LED lighting is for the future. And this is what the company is focusing on now. The stock price is down, but the company is definitely not out. TA-wise, the downtrend is not reversed yet. Support is likely to come in at 2.50. Now is the time to watch the stock closely. Until you see a bullish buy signal, keep your gun powder dry.

1MDB is the victim. It is being cheated by corrupt officials of the company. These corrupt officials are the ones who must be answerable to the cheating. Let no stones be unturned to identify these culprits and have them brought to face the music.

Agreed that IQ is cash-rich with no borrowings. But its 3rd Qtr earning is a poor show when compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. It has dropped 31.85%. It's a good stock to monitor. Watch the chart for a good entry point.

Effective from April 01, 2015, the company has a new CEO who is touted to a proven leader with competency in business. This is positive for the stock. At the present price of RM3.77, the stock is at a steep discount to its book value of over RM6. My bet is on.

David, RM27.29 million came from the sale of logs. GP has 129,134 ha of timber concession land under its jurisdiction. So how can revenue from sale of logs be considered a one-time-off gain?

Thanks, Jen. If management acts with integrity and competence, then its timber forest concession is definitely a gold mine. But if the management is unable to unlock the value of land, for whatever reason, then, no matter how valuable the land is, it will not be of much use to the company.

The above filings with Bursa did not say for how long the 6 compartments in the concession will last. Hence, we can only guess. Please note that GP is not going into mining. The mining rights are given to LTAWNT that is a shareholder of GP.

Hope what is appended below is useful:
Operating revenue
The segment's operating revenue increased by 222% to RM38.84 million in the current quarter as compared to RM12.05 million reported in the previous year's corresponding quarter. The increase in revenue was contributed by the logs sales proceeds amounting to RM27.29 million from the concession of the Group's timber management subsidiary, Kumpulan Pengurusan Kayu-Kayan Trengganu Sdn. Bhd. ("KPKKT") during the current quarter under review. The six (6) compartments in the concession were part of a land area in KPKKT's concession that was awarded to the Group's shareholder, Lembaga Tabung Amanah Warisan Negeri Terengganu ("LTAWNT") by the Terengganu State Land Office for mining purposes. In return, KPKKT was given the right to extract and sell the logs therein.

500plus, I agree the numbers are suspicious. I wish to highlight that JTiasa is a much bigger company. As at 31.03.14, its number of shares issued was 973.718 ml and Treasury shares was 13.679 ml. At GP, the number of issued shares was only 134.546 ml. Moreover, JTiasa had interest bearing loans and borrowings of RM845.885 ml., whereas PG had borrowings of only RM1.070 ml.

Jaack1, I share your thought. I think there was a change in the top management. That probably did the trick.

It appears that there is a change of fortune in GPharos. Its cash position as at 31.3.14 has improved to 29m, and its current ratio is 1.539 which is okay. It has little borrowings. It has 128,720 ha of forest timber concession to extract for logs. What is of concern is whether its earnings can be sustained. Insiders may have some idea about this. So it's best to follow its chart and go after strength. The company has not been doing well for many years. I wonder if there is a change of management. Please share if you know.

One other thing that I like about this company is that the executive chairman of the board of directors, Tan Sri Dato' Tan Kok Ping is not an ordinary person.
He is the President of Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of Penang Joint Chambers of Commerce, Deputy President of The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia and Director of Institut Intergriti Negeri Pulau Pinang.

NTA = RM2.78. Financially speaking, this is okay. The only concern is whether its earnings can be sustained after its latest two quarters of excellent showing. I am giving it the benefit of doubt. I think the stock is under-valued at the present price of around RM2.70 per share.

There were a lot of talks about KSeng having lots of tax credit with the Inland Revenue to be used for the payment as special dividend to its shareholders before the end of 2013.
We are well into 2014 and nothing happen in this respect. The management of KSeng is the most stingy when it comes to dividend payment. The company has a hugh amount of cash but do not know what to do with it except to put it in the form of fixed deposit with some banks.
Unless there is a change of guards at the top, KSeng is likely to continue to frustrate its minority shareholders. What a shame!

Less than mediocre earnings in the last five quarters; high debt; current ratio less than 1; Calibre of management: incompetent to doubtful because of poor showings in earnings; dividend yield: less than 1. There are just too many red flags in the stock. Wait until you are close to the tunnel and can see the light more clearly. Better to buy high and sell higher than to buy low and sell high for those who do not have the financial muscle to buy and hold.
