i dun think is fund manager dumping the stock becoz of shariah. They knew long time what is going to happen and the announcement was just to make it official.

according to source they have to press down the oil price to make the shale gas exploration become unattractive. On the other hand, new technique is also keep reducing the cost of exploration, so consumer is the winner end of the day.

If the market rate goes back to $100 per barrel level or higher, the gov can anytime introduce subsidy, probably not full, but at least something is there. It other wise, someone shall explain how is the budget of ~$200 billion is going to be spent if totally zero sub.

is market overreact...there is no point to subsidy now as the international market rate for fuel is lower than $2.30. In reverse the people is subsidzing the gov for now.
