Mac 2020, MalaccaSecurities rated SELL, tp RM0.86,
Sep 2020, MalaccaSecurities rated BUY, tp RM1.76.
What has drastically changed in a short period of 6 months? So much change that that requires a 100% increase?

On the topic of gloves stocks, my 2 cents view is that sales of gloves will sustain, in the short term at least.
However, it is unclear if the extraordinary demand for glove stock will sustain.
Judging Supermax, for example, an increase of 2000%+ in profit is great news for the stock and investors should feel hyper optimistic. Share price should appreciate more, but share price tanked instead.

@Philip,
I didn't know that as long as one holds <5%, he/she could refrain from being listed in the top 30. I always thought it was an automatic process. This also means there could be many others who wish to remain out of the public eye.

This result reflects fairly this year's volatility. More investors' lose rather than gain. Still, a month's performance is too short to judge an investor's capability. A year or more would be more accurate. Also, placing big bets on the right stock in the right sector plays a major role in determining huge gains or huge losses.

"If you have bought into NetX, don't for a second think you have bought based on the fundamentals of this business. You have bought into a speculation.
You have to time your buying and selling. You will have to buy cheaper than others and to sell quickly when the price spikes up, usually temporarily.
Do not be greedy. Holding for higher gains may lead to losses when the reversal in price occurs suddenly and quickly.
It is a game of buying from suckers and selling to suckers (BFS, STS); a game I play very rarely too.
Good luck."

Of course you must compare with the benchmark. TTB as a value investor must be compared with other value investors such as Buffett. TTB's icap underperformed the KLCI in past 5 years? Read the Annual Reports before commenting.

I don't agree with TTB 100%, but I agree that not losing big in stocks over the long term is already an achievement.
Investing directly in many other shares would have made irrecoverable losses, eg buying BAT years ago and holding til now, or using your example, buying Parkson or Bstead and holding until now.
Of course, one can always argue that investing in PENTA instead of ICAP 5 years ago would be a huge difference. But how many people are that lucky? What if one bought Hengyuan in 2015 and held until now?
If stock investment is a sport like badminton, iCapital would deploy a defence first strategy. It may not win much in the short term. But it is guaranteed not to lose much in the long run. And keeping some cash is part of that strategy.
Disclaimer: I'm not an employee of iCap. Just a small shareholder.

@fong7,
No wonder you seem so bitter about TTB and iCapital. My guess is that the subscription didn't make much money for you? Did you buy iCapital shares but didn't make much money?
I only can say, at least you didn't lose much money putting your money in iCap. I'm sure you'd gain something in that 1 year subscription, albeit a small part.

If Healthcare stocks are rotational play, ICAP did not miss out this time.
But ICAP does not time the market, as any shareowner of ICAP will tell you.
Long term capital appreciation through value investing is what ICAP intends to achieve.
