Index futures and options will follow the movement up or down except that the magnitude may vary from the index as they are directly related. If I were the banker and there are $500 millions buying Bear CBBC, $100 millions buying Bull CBBC, then I will use the $500 millions to buy some index equities and jack up the price. At the end, I devour all the bear CBBC and earned 400 millions, in addition, the money invested in the index equities still growing which is a bonus to me. Hope you can understand the scenario.
