hoolahoo's comment is a standard that everyone else should follow.
argue based on facts and figures, opinions are welcomed without personal attack.

jomaropol, for the rights issue... it is not recommended by me. why not you go and buy The Edge Weekly last week edition and read it yourself there? And you probably don't know basic corporate finance on the difference between rights issue and private placement so I don't want to waste my time to explain to you because it will take one hour

Speakup, this is not a DOOMS DAY article. I do agree that AirAsia is a good company. But at what price to pay is something everyone has a different view on it. And feel free to BUY as this is not an advise to buy or sell

Sheep, knowing just the facts and the ability to see a trend are different

7-March Ringgit is 4.10, now 3.90.
7-March Brent oil is usd38, now usd42 per barrel.
Rookiemy, the fundamentals are clear to sell export theme counters and BUY oil and gas
It is only a matter of time the earnings will reflect these change. After that the share price will reflect these changes

Blackspy, thanks for the comment. I admire you bcos after wasting 2 minutes reading, you wasted another 30 seconds to write that comment

Rookiemy, I still believe in skpetro. Yes admittedly the share price dip but it is bcos of bad result up to Jan 2016 quarter. Oil price has improved after that, so we shall see improved earnings and share price as well. Lastly, I have spell out downside risk if you want to play skpetro of about 20 to 30% and hold it for 3 years. It is a risk reward play in which I see more reward at current share price
2016-04-10 17:30 | Report Abuse
Rookiemy, I stick to my call as I believe the investors have yet to see the impact in the earnings. The first test will be end of May in which I believe most export theme companies should see lower earnings qoq

Lousy-result, I am ranked 15th out of 118 participants. Return is more than 5%. Admittedly that is lousy as I am still learning to be number one. Thanks for the link bcos all.other people can check the result there

Onlyone simole quesition .. Why not rights issue in which minority shareholder will be given opportunity to participate in the company growth.?
2016-04-02 21:28 | Report Abuse
Minority shareholders holdings will be diluted, I.am not positive on this. It is good for Tony but not minor ity shareholders

calvin, why u always left out KMLOONG... it is a good company comparable to what you listed here
2016-03-28 09:51 | Report Abuse
wow, this article rise to number 5 so fast... Calvin can provide the internet link? KMLOONG should also benefit from this
2016-03-28 04:36 | Report Abuse

It is a valid question. My wild guess is they overpaid interest expense last time so now claim back some. But this is very unusual in business. Icon should be able to answer u.

enning22, i agree that Ringgit increase is due to external factors (Fed change their stance on interest rate + oil price up)
and yes foreigners are not going to stay forever in Malaysia (just like in any countries)
we never know how long this uptrend will last, but I won't hold on to export oriented stocks and continue to see share price decline
2016-03-23 07:39 | Report Abuse
enning22,
from Ringgit 3.40 level
export counters share price has gone up 100%, now down 20% or 30%, still a hefty gain of 70% +...
this is consistent with ringgit movement "ringgit slid 70 sen , recover 40 sen , still s hefty drop"
but then historical figures are pretty much useless, as all these has been priced in. the most important question is whether you think that Ringgit will continue its upward trend or not...

Paperplane we have enough argument for today. Time to rest. I compare bcos I need to defend myself when.u ask me what do I have...
2016-03-22 12:27 | Report Abuse
Ok paperplane, on the weightage basis, I don't know about the 20% rule. So readers don't compare both portfolio as the rule are different
2016-03-22 12:07 | Report Abuse
papeplane...
as expected, you wont believe me even though i say i never change my stock selection and weightage. no point to argue since there is no trust
2016-03-22 12:00 | Report Abuse
yuefei01 there is rule to follow for the portfolio competition that says participants cannot change their portfolio along the way (that's why I cannot include my oil and gas stock inside)
2016-03-22 10:39 | Report Abuse
at first I dont want to do this comparison, but since you don't want to let go I need to defend myself
this is my portfolio
fayetan - positive 6% (http://klse.i3investor.com/servlets/pfs/54476.jsp)
paperplane - negative 1% (http://klse.i3investor.com/servlets/pfs/54177.jsp)
I never change my stock selection (but you won't believe me either).
Just print screen and keep it - by end of the year you can verify it
2016-03-22 10:34 | Report Abuse
speakup, your comment show how shallow minded are you. when you don't have facts to defend yourself, you simply say something irrelevant
2016-03-22 10:33 | Report Abuse
paperplane - negative 1.65% portfolio return and yet still shouting TOP 20 (who cares you are top 20 if your portfolio is NEGATIVE?)
A Fixed Deposit with 3% guaranteed interest rate portfolio already outperformed yours.
paperplane portfolio is here

paperplane, i don't want to shame you publicly
although i am not in the competition, go and check for urself my portfolio return in the self managed portfolio.

yes paperplane, i already wish u good luck. i have nothing and i am just a small blogger.

stocks with share price below the "intrinsic value" is not necessary a BUY call as the market may take long time to appreciate the stock.
thanks for sharing though...

By the way paperplane, foreigners buy in net RM400m of Malaysian shares yesterday, the trend is set. But I know u will keep ur export oriented stocks and won't cut loss, so I wish u good luck

Ok paperplane and moneysifu who wish that I become bancrupt, I will work hard to prove u guys wrong. By the way I wish u a good return for your stocks... Bcos I have a bigger heart than both of you

paperplane, let's see whether I will be around in the next one year... if I still around, means I am not bankrupt yet.
And please improve on your comment, give some numbers and opinion. any standard one people also can talk like you (simply condemn without numbers)

enning22, oil and gas is linked to Ringgit (Oil up, Ringgit up) it's a straight correlation.
plantation is export product.. strictly speaking, if u just focus on Ringgit alone, it should lose out due to stronger Ringgit.
but in the real world the El Nino impact is much stronger. everyone knows plantation stocks is a weather play. In short, EL NINO impact is BIGGER than Ringgit in the world of CPO price

007, The Edge will always be top ... I am just a small blogger and I am happy to continue like this.
On price forecast of oil, everyone is entitled to their view. Some use technical, some demand and supply. I prefer the "game theory" or political analysis instead..
So far I am lucky for few weeks...
007, what do you think about oil ? No right or wrong just for discussion purpose

2016-03-19 08:37 | Report Abuse
Soojinhu, I read the content. U missed the point. What I want to point out is the influence on new topic of discussion, it does not need to agree with my view. And most importantly, can update me ah how much is Brent crude oil And Ringgit now? Is it up or down since my article?

Moneysifu.. Which one would you prefer.. Something simple and brief but explain the current trend.. Or 10 pages report that only few accountants or specialists understand?
Feel free to publish ur own article, but prepared to face people like urself who is never satisfied until the day all bloggers stop blogging

My stock selection is not 100% accurate. I presented the risk and I out my disclaimer. And I publish the CUT LOSS article when the assumptions have changed. Moneysifu we are living in the world of full swing volatility and trend changed very fast. If you can't take this kind of volatility better avoid stock market

Blur investor, I am happy if oil touch 50... As it means 20% upside from current level. Everyone has their own figure on shale oil producer cost...and by the way since when oil price function based on demand and supply? It is a political commodity.... I believe u can forecast oil price e better by studying world politics rather than demand and supply
