so wrong. renewable energy is about clean energy, cannot calculated based on oil pricing. If not supported by governments all over the world, this "industry" has long dead since it cannot make enough profit (or mostly at loss) to motivate any business opportunity to happen. It's all about environmental friendly, all about the future of human beings. So the point is just this: if government/citizens very poor and cannot afford to support it by paying extra to them, then it's at high risk. Otherwise, it's "almost" irrelevant to oil price. Well, just my looking at it. You can have your own perspectives. :)

Good for long term, but neutral for mid term. I guess we need a year or so to digest GST effect on consumers sentiment.

GST will hit on luxury products sales. Just count that in on its valuation. 69% of its revenue comes from Malaysia sales.

I thought TTB and ICAP are civilized, but it seems not. They are not. They are prejudice, angry, dictatorship, closed minded....very disappointed.

I am very disappointed with TTB and ICAP for this matter. Take a look how they response to shareholders' comments on their FB page. Gangster style, cheap.

US$25? I don't think I read anywhere indicating this number. The lowest I read was about close to US$50...please share your article. Thanks!

ya, definitely politics involved since the timing was just too coincidence. We'll have to wait to see what will happen next. No matter what, I still don't see a long term depressing oil price. Perhaps not as high as before like US$110 that high, but US$90-95 seems reasonable for next few years at least. btw, Shale oil production cost is low for big players, as low as US$50-60 etc. If oil long term at this low price, all oil companies will die for sure. So OPEC cannot let that happen, that will no longer be politics but just suicide.

Ya, agree. TTB is too proud of himself, this is not good. On the other hand, Buffet seldom gives the impression of such high self-esteem. Buffet does share buyback when he thinks the stock is undervalued. TTB's stubbornness is not a good thing.

i just don't think crude oil companies will simply let shale oil companies to take over their position just like that. They are just too huge and too powerful for decades if not centuries. They will find a way to balance the situation. Just taking time. Many expects oil price to rebound to above US$90, and I think so too.

Green Tea, thanks for the dual listing info. I was just about to ask if anyone can share the info as I didn't attend the meeting. However, about the fund's prospectus, as we all used to say, rules are dead and human are alive. We can always make changes to them when required. Look at Apple today. Business is great, and Cook is awarding shareholders by dividend and buyback, which Jobs said he'll not do that. The environment changes, so need adaptation. When ICAP has nothing to invest with huge cash for 4 years, the management should change a little to reward the long term shareholders. Just same case as Apple. With its huge cash, it hardly find any large investment opportunity, and share price valuation has been depressing. So Cook took the step.

to be fair, TTB did mention couples of times the O&G valuation is sky high, but nobody care at that time as those stocks are flying high along with IBs non-stop increasing valuation aka TP. But look at it today, they had dropped 30%-50%.

Waiting 4 years for market to crash is not a genius move. I never see Buffett do this, definitely not as long as 4 damn years!

If ICAP adds one more force on top of paying dividend, that is share buyback, then I am 100% sure the share price will shoot up to closely tracking its NAV. Since by buyback, the yield will definitely increase, and by the ability of TTB, I believe NAV will not decrease much even if market is bad.
2014-11-19 03:16 | Report Abuse
yes, i agree fully. We should take care of the share price too (aka taking care of shareholders), not just handling the fund. Just like any other companies. Not just handling their business well, but also it's important to have a good IR department to take care of shareholders. It is just not fair to shareholders if the share price depress for years (icap case, at least 4 years). What if a shareholder needs to cash out for unpredictable case?
Paying moderate dividend is one of the best way to handle share price issue. If ICAP pays 3% yield according to its NAV, I am very sure the share price will not as depressing as today. I'm looking at a discount of less than 5% from NAV actually. A 3% yield for NAV will be about 9 sens, then at today's price, the yield will be 3.75%, which is higher than FD.

FA vise, this profit jump is because of land sales, not properties sales and construction contracts. So on FA, there is nothing much to be cheer about.

The stock has been sideline since May this year. Today, still sideline. There is no up or down indicator seen yet. Just sharing my view on its TA graph. :)
2014-11-18 16:30 | Report Abuse
TA, it looks like big funds accumulating.
However, nothing can be confirm as FA is a more solid way to think but still, retailers are the last to know any "breaking news". So when we heard from newspapers, already too late to sell.
Conclusion, both TA and FA are just "counted risk" parameters. Risk is there all the time.

big volume past few days and big price drop....sounds like big sharks accumulation process. Otherwise who were buying to create that volume? retailers like you and me? Did many of us here buying large volume in past few days? I guess not. Anyway, sometimes big funds also can kena trap and becomes accident long term investors. :D

the dual-listing, it's a brand new product instead of current icap transformation, am i right? i am confused as TTB said before this dual listing may help squeeze the discount of NAV for icap.

btw, all IBs with low TP are based on FY15 earnings, where cimb with such high TP based on FY16 as it expects assets to be getting contracts by FY15. This is the "expectation risk" we had for perisai (and all OnG stocks actually) now.

cimb now TP 2.20, next week can simply cut to 1.10 saying oh profit drop bla bla bla.
large volume selling down....but who's buying? you? I mean retailers? if you had bought below 1.00 in recent fall, can you notified us here so that we had a brief idea who's buying? I didn't buy. If none of us retailers were buying, then the large volume comes from big funds, then it's a accumulation in process. If retailers were buyers, then bad news, funds are disposing aggressively.

tanchinming, 15% dividend means for PAR VALUE of 1.00, it's 15 sen. As for Mudajaya, PAR value is 20 sen, so 15% means 15/5 = 3 sen dividend.

The simplest way is to pay more money to cimb to writing a paper and upgrade their NR to Add with high conviction. By then you will see share price shoot up 100%. Their current NR rating TP is above 3.00 with 30-40% discount of RNAV, while other IBs rated it with TP of above 60% discount. If you look at the huge discount (current market price is at about 75% discount), it's pretty much priced in the negative perspective of management.

About 9% private placement priced set at 1.00. And the weird thing is, ICAP downgraded it to sell (from buy) right after the announcement of the placement. Very tricky....
