Well that's my general investment rule I set for myself. Others may disagree. No racial cards being played. I avoid them like a plague.

Yeah I'd rather trust Japanese management than many of the local chinese (not all) which I have seen alot. Terrible management and only enrich themselves. Lots of such people with listed business. Bumi ones even worse. Rather not touch.

Obviously shareholders, especially foreign ones are losing trust in LKT for his dishonest moves lately.

Personal listed business making deep red loss, then use Genting Malaysia to take over and cover the losses. Totally Chinaman.

Wendy, download KLSE Screener app on Android or iOS. Then search for AirAsia and then look at the financial quarters. Use the previous corresponding quarters result release as the reference. Agak2 around those dates.
But somehow this recent quarter was released much later than before. You can only use it as a reference lah but it won't run away far.

Any other updates from AGM? More details of the pay cut?

Salary and directors fee tak sama leh. Directors fee if cut even better since all of them are underperforming.

If Genting doesn't get Osaka, don't worry there are two more locations -- Yokohama and another somewhere in Hokkaido.

I believe AA will still be the mother holding company. AA will have controlling stakes in each of the spun off listed entities.
Look at Genting Berhad. It has Genting Malaysia, Genting Singapore, Genting Plantation under it's umbrella. All listed alongside the mother.
Wider net, less risk from the airlines side of things with some diversification of listed entities -- digital + payment processing + logistics.
2019-05-30 21:11 | Report Abuse
Another juicy part.
if AA manage to fast track its growth for Teleport, the recently renamed logistics arm, and get it up and running at 100%, that might be spun off in an IPO too. Which means more cash to grow.
2019-05-30 21:09 | Report Abuse
I said it before. There are 3 + 1 IPOs coming in the near future (maybe next 2-3 years) for the regional operations -- Philippines first, then Indonesia and Thailand -- to raise more cash from investors.
The mother of all should be Red Beat Ventures. If AA lists it in Nasdaq or NYSE, the valuation will be much much higher than the mother share, which carries only about PE of 6 to 8.
Check out the tech stocks or unicorns that are listed in the US. Many carry crazy high valuations even when those companies are crap.
Look at Tesla. Making hundreds of millions of losses ($702mil) in one quarter alone and not making money at all. But still trading so expensive. Look around for other so so tech stocks too. Many with ridiculous valuations.
So to list Red Beat Ventures in the US is a brilliant idea, only if the it has solid fundamentals and convincing products. Then it will justify the high valuations that it is seeking.

Digital currently under AA, as part of Red Beat Ventures. Might be spun off and put up for IPO in Nasdaq or NYSE (stated in AA's investment slides before, and Tony said that many times too).

Another example (poor example) --- let say oil price suddenly spikes like crazy. Tony with the data can straight make a decision to hedge more or something like that. All relevant data available in real time.

Almost every modern, non-Chinaman company has such access to real time data liao lah. Nothing new, nothing spectacular. It just helps so that decision making and strategic moves can be executed faster with data in hand.
Cuts down the layer of reporting for such simple data. No need to wait days or weeks just to get data to make decisions.
As I have said, it's no crystal ball.
It's like a newsroom full of large displays showing news flow around the world in real time and all the social media trending happenings.

He can say what he wants lah about AAX. Let's wait and see if he delivers or not. So far he has said it a few times for AAX. Until today still more or less the same. Been holding AAX since maybe 2015. Added and disposed some. But then it's been all the way down since then.

Managed to find a little bit here on what Tony said on running airports.
https://www.theborneopost.com/2019/01/27/resolving-malaysias-airport-conundrum/
The one I read previously was from other news outlets but it's almost the same:
#####
On this move, AirAsia Group has said it will not invest in the proposed airport REIT as the low-cost carrier does not want to lose focus on its airline business.
Fernandes said while the implementation mechanism of Airport REIT – proposed by the government in Budget 2019 – has not been finalised, AirAsia hopes it will attract more private sector players to participate in running the country’s airports.
“We don’t know the full mechanism, and AirAsia as an airline, we want to just focus on the airline business,” he told a press conference after the launch of Malaysia’s first digital airport control centre by Ground Team Red Sdn Bhd (GTR) at klia2.
“We would like to see full privatisation. So new players will come in, introduce different ways of running an airport.
“It is not our job to build airports. We don’t want to lose focus; our job is to move people from point A to point B, at the cheapest price and in comfort. That is our goal.”

Sorry I mean CASK, RASK, jet fuel price etc etc. The huge display with tons of data allows for quick decision making on lots of things instead of having to reply on people to inform him this and that.
Not the level of crystal ball yet lah boss. It's to assist in quick decision making.
