Hi Mr. Tan,
1-Jan-2016 - 3-Jan-2016 is a holiday seasons and I think a lot of peoples will be away.
May I suggest to extend the submission 06-Jan-2016 8:00 am and this can give us time to review on our stock selection if the price change.
And, we can use the latest closing price instead of the 31-Dec-2015 closing price if we submit after 04-Jan-2016 8:00 am.
Please consider my suggestion.
Thanks!

Hi 爱丽丝 梦幻世界,
Thanks for the compliment.
Your portfolio is doing very well too.
Compare to your pick, I know I am taking some risk in my portfolio in order to get some extra return.
If you look at my 2014 pick, the profit is sligthly lower than my target. And, I decide to take some risk and let my money to work harder on 2015.

Mr. Chong,
Yes. Let's move on.
I am looking forward for another good quality kcchongnz's article.
To me, your article is a "must read".

Hi. Mr Chong,
Thanks.
If this is the case, I think I can remain my current equation. Because I prefer to minus it out to checkout how much is the "real" Excess Cash and what is the % of Excess Cash on the Total Asset and Market Cap.
By doing so, I only take in the Long Term Debt on TEV. Where, TEV = Market Capitalization + Long Term Debt + Minority Interest - Excess Cash – other non-operating assets
2015-10-19 15:43 | Report Abuse
Hi Mr. Chong
I am getting the non cash CA with Current Assets-Cash.
And, what's non-cash current liabilities?
2015-10-19 15:02 | Report Abuse
E.g. PTARAS - I need to dissect the income items based on financial note (7) and compute the pure "Operating Profit"
#financial note (7) is available at page56 of PTARAS AR 2015 (http://www.klse.my/staticFile/371065.jsp)
2015-10-19 14:56 | Report Abuse
And, the definition of my Excess Cash is not the working capital, but Excess Cash = Total Cash – MAX(0,Current Liabilities-(Current Assets-Cash))
2015-10-19 14:49 | Report Abuse
Mr. Chong,
I have another question.
TEV = Market Capitalization + Debt + Minority Interest - Cash – other non-operating assets
Why take the total cash instead of excess cash only?
I am using this equation - TEV = Market Capitalization + Long Term Debt + Minority Interest - Excess Cash – other non-operating assets
2015-10-19 14:47 | Report Abuse
Hi Mr. Chong,
Some companies include the return from investment in the EBIT.
If TEV = Market Capitalization + Debt + Minority Interest - Cash – other non-operating assets
I think it might be a better idea to use the Operating Profit (we might need to dissect the income statement to get this figure) which exclude all profit from the non operating asset to get the Acquirer’s Multiple
I would suggest to make use this equation - Acquirer’s Multiple = TEV/Operating Profit

Good debate.
I tend to agree with NOBY and JT Yeo.
Excess Cash = Total Cash – MAX(0,Current Liabilities-(Current Assets-Cash))
And, to me it is intuitive.
Let's hear what's Mr. Chong opinion.

“…stocks selling below working capital and showing a fair record of earnings and dividends are likely to be ‘bargain’ issues and are likely to turn out to be unusually satisfactory purchases.” [Graham used the terms working capital and net current assets interchangeably.] To offset the potential of investing in individual stocks that turn out to be unprofitable, Graham suggested holding at least 30 stocks at a time.

Mr. Chong, the subtitles have some mistake ~ DuPont Analysis of Pintaras Vs Kimlun.
I think it is better to use the ROIC instead of ROE as pintaras invested capital is way below the equity.

An investment in knowledge pays the best interest. I strongly agree on this quote from Benjamin Franklin.
I did benefited a lot from Mr. Chong's course.
I would recommend this course to all who want to learn the Value Investing - the most essential skills in this bursa jungle.
Buffett think the very term 'value investing' is redundant. What is 'investing' if it is not the act of seeking value at least sufficient to justify the amount paid? Consciously paying more for a stock than its calculated value - in the hope that it can soon be sold for a still-higher price - should be labelled speculation (which is neither illegal, immoral nor - in our view - financially fattening).

The question for the debate is "Does fundamental value investing not work? " But, it is not about "FA or FA+TA+Trend+Margin work better?"
I would like to share the wisdom from few FA gurus to the i3investors. And, you should able to provide the answer for the question.
We think the very term 'value investing' is redundant. - Warren Buffett
All intelligent investing is value investing - acquiring more than you are paying for. You must value the business in order to value the stock. - Charlie Munger
The focus of most investors differs from that of value investors. Most investors are primarily oriented toward return, how much they can make and pay little attention to risk, how much they can lose. - Seth Klarman
To thrive as a value investor you have to risk being called a dummy from time to time. - Christopher H. Browne

I would say it is very difficult to achieve - "AT LEAST MAKE MONEY 9 OUT OF 10 COUNTERS YOU BUY" (at least for me). 6 or 7 should be a nice number.
How about you?

I have my own template of FA report. I also know what is margin of safety, target price base on Intrinsic value of the stock, Potential gain, EV/EBIT and others important ratio.
I copy the best from all the best sifu on FA. I believe I am equally good in FA.
I do not simply buy stock base on TA only. I use TA comes first and FA comes second strategy. All my recommended stocks are guarantee to have very good FA.
Icon8888, are I right ?
Thank you.
